Recalled Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker won the special election against Tom Barrett on Tuesday, his 7 point win an improvement over the 6 point, 2010 margin of victory. And as for the $21 million FOX News reported organized labor to have poured into the recall sweepstakes? Call it a crap shoot designed in the hope of recouping some portion of the stunning losses unions have suffered over the past 24 months.
Two Walker-sponsored laws have decimated both the power and bank accounts of government sector unions, the first making Wisconsin a right-to-work state and the next doing away with the dues check-off so prized by organized labor. The check-off privilege means
government seizes union dues straight from workers paychecks. The union hierarchy spends that cash on politicking to elect favored candidates. And then the politicians do the union bosses bidding. (1)
Adding insult to injury, along with the check-off generated, automatic payroll deduction, a service fee is charged equal to the amount of an employees union dues! All of this money which used to go directly into union coffers is now lost. (2)
And thanks to the right to opt out of union membership, AFSCME, the 2nd largest union in Wisconsin has seen its membership rolls dwindle from 62,818 in March of 2011 to 28,745 in February of 2012, nearly a 60% decline. (3)
Wisconsins public unions have paid...

As long as the money was spent in the USA, that creates jobs and sustains the economy. Better plan than anything this administration has contrived, if they have in fact done anything but smokescreen.

Walker didn’t cost them a dime, THEY initiated the recall, not Walker.

Walker just broke their basic business model.

Walker just broke their basic business model. Except that there's no real "business" involved. Money is confiscated from all workers in a particular industry by force and handed over to the union bosses. I'd have called it a gravy train.

Walker proposed the law that eliminated the unions ability to automatically deduct dues (and an equal amount for service charge) from workers checks. He also proposed the law that allows workers to opt out of unions and still keep their job. So yes, Walker did cost them bigtime

I’d call it a closed loop. The ordinary citizens and tax payers never had any sort of a voice in the process at all until they elected Scott Walker.

If Murder, Inc. had a business model, I wonder if it was similar to what the unions do.

The author isn’t talking about the costs of the election...he’s talking about the fact the unions are losing a *ton* of money in union dues because they’re losing a *ton* of members.

Good, unions have become micro-entitlement cults anyway.

The 60% decline in union membership is a huge blow to AFSCME. I wonder what Trumpka’s blood pressure is this morning? The union leaders know they are doomed if other states follow Wisconsin's lead. There are thousands of union members across the country who would love to break the chains that bind them to the union. The corruption, greed and left-wing politics might finally come back to bite union leaders in the ass.

Wait a min, I thought walker outsepnt Barrett 7-1 no wait, 10-1 no wait.
According to totals spent walker was outsepnt by Ten-million.
No matter, as long as the MSM gets the message out the truth means bunk.

In one example of switching from WEA Trust to another carrier with comparable coverages, the Heartland-Lakeside School District expects to save $690,000 in the [next] fiscal year. (7) Multiply this by the number of school districts (list here, looks like a couple hundred), and you have the unions (and the Dems) losing a HUGE amount of money

As a right-to-work state, WI should try to get Caterpillar to move north from Illinois, where they’re already pretty fed up.
Then you’d REALLY see some union heads exploding!
