WTO Wants to Replace “Made in the USA” with “Made in the World” Labels

The World Trade Organization is moving closer to eliminating country-of-origin labels and replacing them with “Made in the World” initiative labels because they say we need to “reduce public opposition to free trade” and “re-engineer global governance.”

An America that prides itself on independence and celebrates that independence every year on July 4 should want absolutely no part in allowing the advancement of global governance that aims to eliminate the one thing that allows American consumers to know from where the products they buy originate: The “Made in USA” label…

…The WTO wants to replace country-of-origin labels with a World Input-Output Database – an initiative that is being funded by the European Union’s “Seventh Framework” program. Americans should be concerned and seriously question the involvement of the European Union in watering down or wiping out the “Made in USA” label.

Mmmm. Why do I get the feeling global corporations are behind this like GM so that we can keep shoveling taxpayer money at them without the taxpayers actually knowing about it?

“re-engineer global governance.”

Somebody needs to tell them that globalism is just a crazy conspiracy theory.

There will be companies that WILL want to label their products with origin information. I for one will attempt to support ONLY those outfits labeling sources.

Will the New World Order OUTLAW ALL labeling?

Unless we’re looking at a meteorite, that label appears to be in the “blatently obvious to the less than casual observer” category.

And is thusly placed in the “stupid as the UN and Obama” category.

Made in the World? What’s the point of having the labels then? Save the cost and get rid of them altogether. Stupid. Maybe they should have “Made with child labor” and “Made with adult labor”. Sounds like someone has nothing better to do and no ideas.

I detect a bit of panic in this. As if we are on the cusp of a great global blowback against free trade.

I like the idea of going directly to the factory that made crap and telling them about it.

Where else coul d these things have been made. It is classic double speak. Are they envisioning a time when things will be made on the moon?

Yeah, because all those cheap shoddily made goods from Mars were causing consumers so many problems...

Don’t even get me started on all the sweatshop slavery issues that Sedna has when making iPads....

We outsource so much damned manufacturing that anything “supposedly made” in the USA might as well be labeled as being “made in the world” because it pretty much means jack and squat these days...

I amy being super cynical...

WTO Wants to Replace “Made in the USA” with “Made in the World” Labels

That would distinguish them from those hard to find items labelled:

"Not Made In The World"

Or

"Made On Other Worlds"

“Made in the World”?

Why not just “Made”? Since, no doubt, if it was “made”, it was made somewhere in the world, so the “world” part would be redundant. Now, when they start making things in other planets or on the moon, we can then say that is was of “interplanetary origin”, or just “made in space”. Only when they start making things “from outside the world”, might there be a need to label things as “Made on Earth”.

I have a Spyderco pocket knife that has printed “Golden Colorado, USA, Earth”.
Also I have worked with a circuit board manufacturer that has printed on their boards “Made on the third planet from the sun”
In both of these cases I thought it was cute, but this initiative is designed to get the consumer to buy anonymous crap from “somewhere”. No thanks.
