(AP) -- The White House says Commerce Secretary John Bryson will take a medical leave as he undergoes tests and evaluations after suffering a seizure in connection with two traffic accidents in the Los Angeles.
White House press secretary Jay Carney said in a statement Monday that President Barack Obama's thoughts were with Bryson and his family.

I always cringe at that “our thoughts are with so-and-so”. How utterly meaningless. “Thoughts” never helped anybody—how about “our PRAYERS are with so-and-so”?

Alcohol lowers the threshold for seizures.
My 15 year old daughter has a seizure disorder (hasn’t had one in 5 years), and the doctor said that lots of kids stop having seizures then when they go to college they start up again due to stress, drinking, not getting enough sleep.
Even if he is in the Obama administration, my prayers are still with them. Seizures are horrible, and I don’t wish them on anyone.

“Thoughts” may mean get well wishes or be a euphemism for prayers used when addressing a mixed group some of whom are not religious. It’s probably not something that merits getting overly picky about.
yes, alcohol, stress, and many medicines lower the seizure threshhold.
The question is why did he have a seizure? It could be a brain tumor.

I think the term of art is, “I have no specific recollection of that to which you refer.”
With this formulation, the politician can beat a perjury rap. He/she can always argue that his/her interpretation of “that to which you refer” was different from the “specific” recollection that he/she had.

I think this guy was a drunk driver, period.
When they found out who he was, they had to come up with something that would keep the issue from impacting on Obama.
