The state with the highest racially charged search rate was West Virginia, where 41 percent of voters chose Keith Judd, a white man who is also a convicted felon currently in prison in Texas, over Obama just this May. Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Alabama, and New Jersey rounded out the top 10 most-racist areas, according to the search queries used.
Even if states that are considered fairly liberal, racism is prevalent enough in certain areas to put the entire state high up on the list. "Other areas with high percentages included western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, upstate New York and southern Mississippi," Stephens-Davidowitz points out in his New York Times article.
The 10 states with the fewest racially charged searches were Utah, Hawaii, Colorado, New Mexico, Idaho, Washington DC, Minnesota, Oregon, Montana, and Wyoming.
What does this mean for this year's contest? "Losing even two percentage points lowers the probability of a candidate's winning the popular vote by a third," Stephens-Davidowitz explains. "Prejudice could cost Mr. Obama crucial states like Ohio, Florida and even Pennsylvania."

When less-qualified ethnic minorities or women are given admission to colleges or jobs based on those criteria, then you have institutionalized racism and sexism - a government policy that recognizes that those minorities and women are inferior to white men. Excluding those white men from those spots is racist as well; I’m still dumbfounded that these policies pass legal muster, and view both of those groups with complete apathy as a result.
In 2008, the United States elected a black man President. Where was all this talk of racism then?
What all the talk of racism is about is trying for those few votes that might have gone the other way if they are not made to feel guilty.
I’ll grant you that there might be a remnant of racism remaining in the south, but it was overruled by the majority of white people here in this country.
What is a “racially charged” search? Assuming the premise of this article is based on internet searches, are they including any search that makes reference to race in it? That’s clearly not the same as racist, yet they base all their assumptions on it.

This nitwit ignores the fact that many white, racist Dems voted for Obama. I know because I know a number of racist Dems who would rather elect Castro than vote for a Republican. Politics trumps race in virtually every situation. Except in cases such as when Hillary Clinton received only about five percent of the Black vote in head to head contests with Obama in the 2008 primaries despite having virtually the same platform. (Now, who are the racists sir?) Not withstanding that last situation, in the final analysis, given a clear difference in political slant, race matters little or nothing.
You know a number of racist Democrats? Every Democrat is racist. Only the founding party of the KKK would assume minorities are too stupid to obtain a government ID in order to vote. Only a racist would vote for Obama simply because he is black. And only a racist would support raced based hiring programs as reparations for past transgressions.
