Not so amazing. Chicago has a population about *four times* that of Detroit, for example. Thus a lower crime *rate*. There are many nice neighborhoods in Chicago with very little crime.
I grew up in the city of Chicago--in the city itself--and in my neighborhood, there was no crime whatsoever, none, in all my growing-up and young-adult years. It was a wonderful place to live. Of course that was several decades ago. But still, even now, there are large sections of Chicago with very little crime. And there are large sections that are like a war zone. You gotta know your neighborhoods.
thats The Prezs hometown. . . .
Not really. As someone who was born and raised in the city of Chicago, and lived there into my thirties, I do NOT regard that interloper from Indonesia as a true Chicagoan.
Yes, by the mid 1960s PC had already taken over the Westerns on TV, even Bonanza. I watch the old episodes, too, and have noticed that. White people who stand up for justice and the law were beginning to be vilified. Minorities were already be turned into saints. Southerners were always redneck hicks.
This sale of Congressional Quarterly is a small move in the Right direction. NY Times (former owner) is hard left Socialist while the Econonomist is more Blue-Dog Democrat. Economist generally support the free-market and capitalism (much more so than NY Times) although the Economist incoherently endorsed Obama just like the Times.
I'm certain that that figure does NOT include government welfare benefits including disability, food stamps, etc (not to mention 'under-the-table' earnings). Otherwise, the income figure would triple.
Making people into dependents on government welfare increases crime. There are people who are desperately poor but are still honest.
I thought Mayor Daley didn’t want the citizens of Chicago to have guns, are all of these shooters coming in from Cicero????
They’re cookin’ the books. Chicago is more dangerous than Kabul Afghanistan.
