Jeb Bush: Willingness to compromise in DC is gone
Boston Globe/AP ^ | June 12, 2012 | Brendan Farrington

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush says he believes that the willingness to compromise that allowed Presidents George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan to succeed no longer exists in Washington. He faults both parties for the problem.

"My father and President Reagan were successful because they were willing to put policy solutions above political wins. They recognized the president has a significant influence and ability to drive the agenda and used that to find common ground," Bush said in an email to The Associated Press on Tuesday.

"Washington today is hyper-partisan with people speaking off political talking points rather than working together to find common ground to address the issues our country faces," Bush said.

Bush's comments came a day after several news organizations reported that his father and Reagan would have a hard time winning the presidential nomination in today's Republican Party. Earlier Tuesday, Bush used Twitter to say his remarks were taken out of context. He told the AP that he was talking about partisanship in Congress as a whole.

"Both parties are at fault. Rep. Paul Ryan is one of the few who has shown courage. He proposed a well thought-out budget as a starting place for real discussions," Bush told the AP.

"What was he met with -- incredible criticism from both parties. But, I hold Democrats more accountable because they control two of the three offices -- president & Senate. Over the last four years, they have had multiple opportunities and have opted to take the politically expedient route over working together to find a policy solution."

Bush reiterated his view that the tone of the Republican Party often concerns him.

"I don't believe it's a party that doesn't allow for disagreement among members -- but that is often what it sounds like,"

It would seem Jeb is a bit slow in the uptake here. Compromise has been dead in D.C. since before G.W.B. was sworn in as President. 9/11/01 placed a temporary halt to the democRATS partisanship, but that didn’t last very long.

I sometimes wish there was a Constitutional amendment that would bar any and all descendents of Bush 41 and Bush 43 from ever being President.

I am sick of the RINOs interjecting themselves into the political scene.

I want to see the left politically destroyed. Every time these elites speak I want to puke. They truly think they are better than the rest of us.

The last President our Founders would respect would be Reagan. They would not be too kind to the "compassionate conservatives."

I want NOTHING to “get done” in Washington.

NOTHING.

If another law never gets passed forever it will be the greatest thing that happened to the country since 1776,

Compromise this, Jeb. Stay out da Bushes - where have I heard that before...... let me think..... let me think...

Well, us Cheeseheads did NOT compromise, did NOT reach across the isle, did NOT give in - we went for the eyes and look what we did! Victory is sweet and it’s called stand on principle, NOT compromise.

The Gov. Walker beer summit went well today, except for some unionistas that protested in front of the governor’s mansion - site of the beer summit, picket signs and all. Well, well - THAT is compromise from the left, folks.

Who cares what Jeb Bush thinks? He’s a wimp and not reliable as a conservative.

I prefer his older brother “Burning Bush”, a much more reliable entity. You’ll never find any reference to a “Jeb Bush” in the Old Testament but if you look at an Animal Guide book, you’ll find Jeb under RINO.

Yes! This dialectic process of compromising and resulting in the Third Way is the plan and will be our destruction.

We need to QUIT compromising with Fascism/socialism/Marxism. YOU CAN”T and remain “free”. One thing-—Bush Sr. was a One Worlder—Franklin Cover-up type of guy-—Evil-—he led us into this diabolical Marxist plan with his buddy, Clinton.

When dead soul Jeb compromises, people like Terri Schiavo die in inhumane ways. Jeb sold his soul and now wants us to believe he’s a worthy ‘compromiser’ ... what an arrogant bad man he is!

now, after my rant I must say I will take jeb’s daddy over obama all day long every day of the week. I cannot put up with anyone comparing daddy bush with reagan. that is not cool. Daddy bush was a lying putz and reagan was the real deal. Daddy bush tried to emulate reagan and did a so-so job of it much of the time. but he was no reagan. He was a clown who liked to wear reagan’s clothes.

Evan if Mitt wins we need to to start a conservative party in the mean time to compete in 2016 nationally, 2014 locally.
We can not rely on the repub elite to come around to our way of thinking with out a fight

The Democratic party is always willing to compromise, and then take what you agree to give them, and not do what they agreed to do. Examples:
(1) Reagan raised taxes in return for budget cuts,
(2) GHW Bush raised taxes in return for budget cuts,
(3) Boehner agreed to military budget sequestration in return for entitlement cuts,
(4) and the next time anyone cuts a deal with them.

See, you compromise and get your throat cut and after a while some of us learn.

Jeb Bush: “My father and President Reagan were successful because they were willing to put policy solutions above political wins.”

He accuses the right of putting politics over solutions! In other words, we conservatives have impure motives. Only moderates care! When conservatives propose policy solutions, we couldn’t care less about fixing things. We only fight to gain some sort of political advantage.

What a stinking crock!

Reagan overall was great but some of his biggest failures were compromises. Amnesty was one.

And RINO's don't compromise, they cave.
