General Mills opposes Minnesota amendment to ban same-sex marriage

General Mills is opposing a Minnesota amendment to ban same-sex marriage, taking a public stand on a contentious issue that most companies have tried to avoid. "We do not believe the proposed constitutional amendment is in the best interests of our employees or our state economy -- and as a Minnesota-based company we oppose it," the foodmaker said in a statement. Golden Valley-based General Mills has consistently ranked atop lists of the best corporate workplaces, including its welcoming policy toward gay and lesbian employees. But like most corporations, it has historically steered clear of controversial issues like the marriage amendment, which if passed by voters in November would place a ban on gay marriage into the state constitution.

“What I do not understand is if a liberal individual or individuals who work for a company wants to support a certain issue, they are free to do so as individuals. But why do they insist on dragging their company into it? It’s blatantly unfair to those who may disagree with them yet have to earn a living also and work at the same company.”

We need to make it a goal, that companies should only get involved in political issues when and only when each and every employee agrees with the political agenda of the company.

I agree. However, I wouldn’t put it past some libs to start threatening some employees with termination if they don’t “go along to get along”, i.e., “you will ‘volunteer’ to support homosexuality and abortions if you want to stay employed”-type garbage.

I worked for one company where there was pressure on all of us to be “happy and congratulatory” to a lesbian manager whose girlfriend had a “turkey baster” baby. I resented it since that was not in my job description when I signed up. I was only there for a paycheck, not to endorse the private personal life decisions of any of my co-workers.

Guess it’s time to avoid General Mills Cereal (and any other products that this company or any of its subsidiaries create).

General Abortion Mills has been on my boycott list since the early 90s when I found out they were big Planned Parenthood supporters and hired pro-aborts to push their cereals.

This news should surprise anyone.

So standing up for good morals against the perverts attacks on society is not in your best interest?
Then purchasing your products is not in societies best interest.

Here is the email I left on their web site, I signed it. I hope all freepers do the same.

Their contact info:

Dear Sirs,

I have been a customer for many years feeding all nine of my children. Until today I could be considered one of your good customers. Today you have ruined that relationship.

Your voiced opposition to an anti-gay amendment is too much. If you quietly supported gay activity or in your business were gay friendly then no harm done but your public opposition to the values of the majority of people not just in your state but across the US will sour many people. If those sour thoughts greatly diminish your business and thus your ability to affect public policy then I will be happy. Here are just a few thoughts from people you might want to know about:

Unless you correct this misguided policy you can believe that all those at my church and my wife’s church will carefully avoid any of your branded products.

Then of course I signed it with my name address and telephone number, then filled out all that information on their form again. I hope we can make a difference.

Here is the proof: Penney’s is continuing its same-sex marriage promotion in advertisements. JCP’s June catalog highlights “two dads” celebrating Father’s Day. The ad shows two men on the floor playing and hugging their two children at home. It reads, “First Pals - What makes Dad so cool? He’s the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer and hug giver - all rolled into one. Or two. Real-life dads Todd Koch and Cooper Smith with their children Claire and Mason.” Yep, it sounds like “Gay C. Penis” to me!

Yup.

MIL will no longer shop there. She put the catalogue in recycling but I made her take it out and look at the gay guys.

Nail, meet coffin.
