General Mills is opposing a Minnesota amendment to ban same-sex marriage, taking a public stand on a contentious issue that most companies have tried to avoid. "We do not believe the proposed constitutional amendment is in the best interests of our employees or our state economy -- and as a Minnesota-based company we oppose it," the foodmaker said in a statement. Golden Valley-based General Mills has consistently ranked atop lists of the best corporate workplaces, including its welcoming policy toward gay and lesbian employees. But like most corporations, it has historically steered clear of controversial issues like the marriage amendment, which if passed by voters in November would place a ban on gay marriage into the state constitution.

You pour on milk and they dont go snap crackle pop...they go pouff and eat each other
They say they are very gay friendly. They are not so friendly towards employees who return from serving overseas. SCREWUM!!!!

YOU OWE ME A NEW MONITOR AND KEYBOARD! :-)!
I wish these companies would just sell their products and shut up about these issues. I’m sure General Mills probably has some good Lutherans and other folks who strongly agree with Jesus’ definition of marriage(Matthew 19:4-6) who work for them. Why aren’t their rights respected as well?
what if they were a “don’t ask to tell” soldier?
will the Jolly Green Giant now be the Gay Green Giant?
Doesn’t General Mills sell their products to Americans? I don’t do “boycotts” but I’ve spent my last penny on anything they sell. These fags need to learn to STFU and sing. If they want fag dollars more than my dollars, fine. I can work with them on that.
A Luthern in Minnesota? Get out of town ... next thing you’ll be saying is that Utah is full of Mormons ;-D
Time for a massive Boycott
I don't think Sprout is of age and should be involved in such a relationship with the Jolly Green Giant.
Nope; I don’t any of their products, anymore. Not for a while, now.
It would be interesting to obtain and post the biographies and pictures of the principal stockholders and the officers and directors of the corporation.
“General Mills” They just lost me! And you won’t find me a Tarjay (Target)or Homo Depo either.
Who promoted him to General, anyway?
Thanks for the list. Most of those brandnames I don’t buy anyway but will be adding them to my ban list.
What I do not understand is if a liberal individual or individuals who work for a company wants to support a certain issue, they are free to do so as individuals. But why do they insist on dragging their company into it? It’s blatantly unfair to those who may disagree with them yet have to earn a living also and work at the same company.
LOL. that’s what I call the orange box store ,too.
I’m surprised they don’t fly a rainbow flag at all their stores. Especially here in MN. I go out of my way to go to Lowes and Menards.

We need to make it a goal, that companies should only get involved in political issues when and only when each and every employee agrees with the political agenda of the company.
Well then, I will impose my personal ban on their cereals.
Which products do we purchase?
Nope: Big G cereals
Nope: Cascadian Farm
Nope: Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Nope: Fiber One
Nope: Lucky Charms
Nope: Mountrain High
Nope: Glenn Muir
Nope: Haagen Dazs
Yes: Betty Crock
Yes: Old El Paso
Nope: Good Earth
Yes: Green Giant
Nope: Macaroni Grill
Nope: Wanchai Ferry
Nope: Hamburger Helper
Wouldn’t take much for us to drop them.
I agree. However, I wouldn’t put it past some libs to start threatening some employees with termination if they don’t “go along to get along”, i.e., “you will ‘volunteer’ to support homosexuality and abortions if you want to stay employed”-type garbage.
I worked for one company where there was pressure on all of us to be “happy and congratulatory” to a lesbian manager whose girlfriend had a “turkey baster” baby. I resented it since that was not in my job description when I signed up. I was only there for a paycheck, not to endorse the private personal life decisions of any of my co-workers.
Guess it’s time to avoid General Mills Cereal (and any other products that this company or any of its subsidiaries create).
General Abortion Mills has been on my boycott list since the early 90s when I found out they were big Planned Parenthood supporters and hired pro-aborts to push their cereals.
This news should surprise anyone.
Big G, little O? Big N, big O!
I suggest we bust General Mills down to Buck Private.

So standing up for good morals against the perverts attacks on society is not in your best interest?
Then purchasing your products is not in societies best interest.
Fascinating stuff. You know just this morning I was wondering what Wham-O thinks about BOzo’s foreign policy.
Guess I’ll be eatin’ GENERIC cereal brands now.
Good God, why would General Mills release a pro-sodomy press announcement. Morons.
General Mills They just lost me! And you wont find me a Tarjay (Target)or Homo Depo either.
And don’t forget Gay C. Penis.
Thanks for the post.
Here is the email I left on their web site, I signed it. I hope all freepers do the same.
Their contact info:
I have been a customer for many years feeding all nine of my children. Until today I could be considered one of your good customers. Today you have ruined that relationship.
Your voiced opposition to an anti-gay amendment is too much. If you quietly supported gay activity or in your business were gay friendly then no harm done but your public opposition to the values of the majority of people not just in your state but across the US will sour many people. If those sour thoughts greatly diminish your business and thus your ability to affect public policy then I will be happy. Here are just a few thoughts from people you might want to know about:
Unless you correct this misguided policy you can believe that all those at my church and my wife’s church will carefully avoid any of your branded products.
Then of course I signed it with my name address and telephone number, then filled out all that information on their form again. I hope we can make a difference.
I want to thank these different stores and companies for supporting perversion I have never saved so much money.
No more cheerios for me!
No more cheerios for me!
Here is the proof: Penney’s is continuing its same-sex marriage promotion in advertisements. JCP’s June catalog highlights “two dads” celebrating Father’s Day. The ad shows two men on the floor playing and hugging their two children at home. It reads, “First Pals - What makes Dad so cool? He’s the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer and hug giver - all rolled into one. Or two. Real-life dads Todd Koch and Cooper Smith with their children Claire and Mason.” Yep, it sounds like Gay C. Penis to me!
MIL will no longer shop there. She put the catalogue in recycling but I made her take it out and look at the gay guys.
Nail, meet coffin.

Excellent. I’m gonna do the same thing.
Companies who do this are breaking their fiduciary responsibility to their share holders. Why go out of your way to grossly offend more then half your customers?
‘Minnesota for Marriage’ Plans Protest Against General Mills for Supporting Gay Marriage
Guess Ill be eatin GENERIC cereal brands now.
We’ve been buying the Malt-o-Meal brands for years.. Not sure if it’s the fact that we’ve been buying them for years or not, but I like theirs over the real brands better :)
Now. please don’t burst my bubble and tell me Malt-o-meal has signed on to this as well.
