Exactly, and what’s he been doing the last 4?
He’s been doing everything he can to screw us over. What do young people care about?
1, gas prices. If it costs us more to get to and from work, then high gas prices are killing us.
2, rent/housing costs. If we’re paying to rent and Obama keeps spending, our rents get raised.
3, groceries. In case you’ve not noticed, inflation has been shooting up, and that means that again, the money that we do take home we get less of it.
4, taxes. It would be nice to keep more of what we make in a year, but with the withholding as high as it is, we have to wait a year to get some of that money back. Longer if we live in a state like California that issues us IOUs. Heh, I can’t pay my bills with an IOU, why the **** can they?!
5, jobs. Why do you think that workforce participation is so low. The jobs that are out there are being fought for fiercely and the pay is less than it used to be, and the pay goes less far than it used to do. Obama is making it economically advantageous to hunker down, and not drive or go anywhere so we can save what we do have.
That has a ripple effect on all of us.
6, housing. Gee, that bubble, didn’t really hurt us, but if we don’t have jobs, how are we going to get a house so we can have a place to live? How are we going to be able to raise a family and afford to pay for them?
Obama is making it so that the system rewards people for giving up, staying home, going on welfare going on whatever goodies you get so that someone else covers all your bills. I see it everyday. I get people wanting to sell me foodstamps to buy smokes. I don’t get foodstamps. This really pisses me off, because the foodstamps that I am paying for through my taxes are not going to the truly needed, but are being wasted.
I can’t pay my bills with godforsaken food stamps.

In order for young people to be hurt, they actually have to have a job, and actual opportunities out there. I’ve been a parttimer for years now, worked all sorts of jobs.

The sad part is a lot in progressive circles feel Choomer didn’t go far enough. What kills me is now these illegals will qualify for reduced tuition at some state schools. I’m thinking of having my daughter go down to mexico, change her name and sneak back into the country. Maybe then this so called president will start pandering to her and she’ll get reduced tuition.

You want to help us best, get the gd spending under control. Debt is slavery, what point is there in working all your life, doing the right thing, making the right decisions, if, at the end of the day, you still don’t make ends meet. Obama is borrowing today, to keep the train rolling, kicking the can down the road.
There are not enough of us to care for all of the older folks, and given the lack of opportunities for young people, this means a drastic lowering of the American standard of living. Even if you banned immigration altogether, and tossed out everyone who was here, you’d still have these structrual problems that need to be addressed.
We need real immigration reform to get people into the country who are productive, willing to work hard and support America. Obama’s ‘policies’ are doing everything he can to discourage these folks in favor of racial quotas designed to cripple America.

Yeah, when someone quotes up a nice round number (800k), it’s typically totally bogus. My guess is that he asked the question...which went to the number two at the table. This guy then calls his number seven guy, who finally tracks down some GS12 legal-midget in his department who just pulls a number out of thin air....thinking it’s a joke.
True, but we also need to control who's coming in. Allowing people to jump the line because they snuck in and lived here awhile is no way to run an immigration policy. Why not go after the best and brightest like we used to do? Why do we have to let masses of people in just because their countries SUCK? You bring third worlders in, you get third world values and you get people willing to work sub-minimum wage. Think that's good? How do they accomplish that? By cramming 20 in a house meant for four, that's how. If you're house happens to be next to one of these illegal boarding houses what then happens to your property values? If you now have 100 people competing for a job where before only 10 people wanted it, what happens to the wage scale? Lets not even talk about what happens to our property taxes as the kids of these illegals flood into the local schools.

America doesn't care, but progressives do since to them everyone is part of a voting block to be pandered to , or (in the case of caucasions and to a lesser extent asians) someone to foot the bill. BTW progressives want people to suck off the system, because a nation of self sufficient individuals has no need of progressives.

But it also means less employment for us. See, there is a limited number of opportunities out there - increasing the number of available applicants has the identical effect as decreasing the number of opportunities.
More applicants means fewer opportunities. When those additional applicants are here illegally, it makes it kind of incredibly maddening.
I’m all for that, go after the best and the brightest and encourage them to come. Immigrants don’t have to be a drag on the system. There are good people out there that should be coming to America.
If America were to specifically target these people, instead of Obama’s usual shuck and jive - they would come.
How do you think these people are going to see America - if they see bills being put forward to prevent people from leaving if they owe money to America? How is that going to convince the businessman in Greece who wants to get out of there before the system totally collapses?
There is a market to be a financial haven in a sea of uncertainty. Look at Switzerland. Switzerland is getting killed on their bonds right now because demand is so stoked up. You’re telling me that an America with good fiscal policy wouldn’t see droves of people trying to do the same thing?
