Yes those are good methods, and new to me. I appreciate the link.

At certain times you may run into someone where the third technique might be advisable, since it can immobilize them and you remain in control until they calm down.

I put my kids in Aikido and my husband and I wound up taking it too. Husband REALLY got into it.

But I love it for kids especially, because you can't do anything until somebody comes at you. The whole point is to deflect, rotate, transfer their energy into dumping them on the ground or into a joint lock. And there's a lot of tradition including respect for the teacher & other students.

(When my husband would say, "Here! Grab my arm!" all our friends would back away slowly, shaking their heads.)
