The End Justifies the Means (DREAM Act through executive fiat)
National Review Online ^ | June 15, 2012 | Mark Krikorian

Posted on 06/15/2012 5:00:30 PM PDT by neverdem

The White House decision to enact the DREAM Act through executive fiat is a lawless act. This isn’t even about immigration; it’s about the Constitution. I have repeatedly written that something like DREAM has much to recommend it, though it would need to be very different from the current iteration, which has been voted down in Congress several times. I understand that Senator Marco Rubio has finally put together a final version of his alternative bill and that Senators Kyl and Hutchison have signed on — from my discussions with his staff, I probably won’t like what he’s come up with, but unless there are typos in my version of Article I of the Constitution, that’s the way lawmaking is supposed work. For all the administration’s pious denials that this measure “confers no substantive right” and “only the Congress, acting through its legislative authority, can confer these rights”, they’re lying. The illegal immigrants in question will receive two-year renewable permits to live legally in the United States and an Employment Authorization Document — that, in plain terms, is what we call “amnesty”.

Any DREAM Act supporter who applauds this measure has forfeited any right to complain about future usurpation of the Constitution. Even backers of DREAM in Congress have a responsibility to deny funding to DHS to carry out this policy.

Isn’t that just like a commie ‘RAT? Using our tax dollars and now our jobs to get his goatsmellin’ ass “reelected”. Life isn’t fair. Especially if you’re an American.

This is a way for him to get tough on illegals, when they come forward he deports their whole family.

They have to come forward and admit that they are illegal and ICE will be waiting for them.

That’s what I ‘heard’ spread the word, the illegals will fall for it and be deported. hahahahaha

Very disappointed in O’Reilly on Fox. He just said Hussein's move was clever and moral.

He did not express having any issue with it.

What a putz.

I think that the real purpose is for a campaign issue.

.. though it is extremely doubtful that Republicans will have the courage to stand up for "separation of powers," "a nation of laws not men," and controversial ideas that are just too damn risky for a professional politician . . . .

He also condemned the -uh- "heckler", and totally supported obamao's hissy fit.

Absolutely disgusting!

I can’t wait to get rid of this man.

But there’s only one way to do it.

We can’t impeach him with a Dem senate. We have to vote him out and Romney in.

O’Reilly has always been smarmy but he’s been more so lately.

Wonder what’s up with that?

I’ve never understood the popularity of Baxter. He really seems to be quite dumb and quite impressed with himself. I can’t take him for more than 5 minutes.

I gave up on Cavuto about 2 years ago...I didn’t understand his views on the housing crash, etc.

Just started watching him again...and he’s kind of getting me hooked. We’ll see.

O.K., Rubio, Kyl, and Hutchinson—the Tyrant beat you to the amnesty punch.

Unconstitutionally.

So, since you guys can work together so well on legislation to kick unemployed Americans in the gut, how about now showing your moxie by bringing a bill of impeachment against the Fraudster?

Or is that not as high on your to-do list as amnesty?

Didn’t Oblamo complain about (legal) student loan debt burdens of $1 Trillion, just last week?

Does the US LOOK like it has Millions in education subsidies to throw around?

What’s the matter with this guy?

How can you deny funding to DHS, because they are ordered not to enforce this one policy? Do you defund the whole DHS?

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) announced Friday that he plans to sue the president for issuing an executive order blocking deportations of illegal aliens.

In 1999 he successfully sued then-Gov. Tom Vilsack over an executive order.

Rep King won.

Back then all the “experts” said he would lose as well.

Too bad for the “experts.”

O'Reilly sometimes has some interesting guests on. That's the main reason to watch him. O'Reilly himself--a small dose goes a long way.

O'Reilly has always been very friendly to Trayvon's parents' lawyer and very unsympathetic to Zimmerman. Sean Hannity initially was wiling to be fair and even had some pro-Zimmerman guests on, but then he shut up. I wonder if the Fox head honchos laid down the law--no coverage that might cause people to think Zimmerman is innocent.

O’Reilly has at least one daughter. And a wife.

He lives on Long Island and hangs with ‘Liberals.’

Ain’t no conservative bone sitting there in handmade suits.

Isn't this like having a temporary work/education visa (not a green card)? I wouldn't think they could get government goodies.

It’s rather scary to see an American(?)president bypass the legislature and make his own rules.

Would the scu*bags who voted for him now have us call him
“your excellency”, “your highness” or maybe “your brilliance”?

Or maybe they will demand that we say “heil” as a greeting in the new, enlightened dictatorship which is now pushing its nose under the tent flap.

IMHO
