Foreign nationals have always been able to be naturalized after completing their first term of service, in my limited understanding.

Served three years active duty, as a Canadian, in the USMC during the Vietnam era. Was eligible for US citizenship upon discharge from active duty. Deferred at the time, later after receiving my Honorable Discharge, I applied for US citizenship. Went thru the requisite background check and completed the citizenship test ... which most Americans would flunk ... I was sworn in as a US citizen. Had I chosen to become a US citizen at the time of my discharge from the Marine Corps it would have been a done deal ... without all of the later stuff that I went thru.

None dare call it treason.

No wait — I will.

Treason!

Just because a couple hundred opportunities were missed in the past is no reason not to impeach him now!

We should probably impeach those who missed "a couple hundred opportunities" first before impeaching Obama. After all, a couple hundred opportunities came and passed why would we think they would suddenly notice this one?

I say go have another beer with the Usurper.

Disband congress and SCOTUS. We don’t need them anymore. Why pay for their salaries and platinum medical insurance?

Give the illegals their salaries and benefits.

It’s for the children.

Thanks to our president, this nation's immigration policy just became more fair and more just.

Ask anyone here on an H1-b visa or other legal means if this is fair. Those people have to obey every letter of the law and jump through arbitrary hoops for years before they can become citizens.

I don’t have the exact quote that I posted the other day from Mark Steyn’s book, `America, Armageddon’ but he cites Pat Caddell, Democratic pollster, who states in a National Review article that when the American people reach the point that they feel their leaders are not responsive to basic things that they want done—or not done—then that is a “pre-revolutionary” situation.

Obama having the brazen effrontery to say that his action was “the best thing for the American people” ... that’s nothing but arrogance on stilts. Of course after three years of his nonsense we’ve become inured to it. It’s something like this, when he gooses the dial from 5 to 9 that we frogs start to stir in the pot.

I’m not sure which will come first if electoral politics doesn’t serve, or if the people are too impatient, to remove this joke of a chief executive off “boil”: Impeachment or revolution. Hopefully the former.

A country with nothing but enmity for the USA could not have done a better job of placing a fraud with identical goals in our White House. I’m not even going to qualify the above with: `Rant Over.’

You must be here legally to join the military. Green Card holders can join and receive expedited citizenship if they serve. Illegal aliens are prohibited from joining the military.

For months now we have known that Barack & Michelle Obama were evil, American hating Islamo-Facist/Communists. Many of us here on FR knew that before November, 2008. Along the way since then, we have seen one thing after another to support what we already knew...but each event made even us incredulous at the brazzen audacity of these two evil American hating Islamo-Facist/Communists. It continues and they are boldened as they move forward in their no-longer disguised mission to totally destroy America.

Now, I have a question, and I will also answer a portion of it...Why do they continue to get away with all this? What is occuring that they are so emboldened?

It is because they have absolutely no opposition from our elected leaders in the Congress, in either the House or the Senate, on either side of the aisle.

How do we hold our Congressional representatives, both Senators and Representatives, accountable? How do we hold their feet to the fire? Are they all Nero’s?

I do not believe for a minute that this latest spit in our face ‘amnesty’ move on their part sits well with most of the American people. That includes those who call themselves Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or Independent.

So where is the backbone...the SPINE...where are the gonads...the BALLS? November 6 is too late. By then there will be some damage done that is irreversible.

In 1776 and the few years that followed, a handful of those in the American Colonies saw fit to demonstrate SPINE & BALLS. Do we have a handful today? It is time, or it will be to late.

Knew a guy that had a visa to visit for a week or so, and he hit a recruiter's office and enlisted. I helped teach him english. Maybe the laws have changed.

Yes, generally illegal aliens aren't going to get the time of day. If you REALLY want to enlist, you can get some paperwork.

Exactly. Not surprising the Democrats, to include their fearless leader, don't even know that.

A non-citizen that is eligible to join the military must meet certain requirements: (1) Have an Alien Registration Receipt Card (stamped I-94 or I-551 Green card/INS Form 1-551), (2) Have a bona fide residence established, and (3) Have established a record of the U.S. as their home.

Some non-citizens from countries with a reputation of hostility towards the U.S. may also require a waiver. The federal government cannot petition on behalf of an illegal immigrant so that they can obtain legal status and be able to enlist in the military. In order for an immigrant to join the United States military, they must first go through the immigration process of the USCIS (previously known as the INS) and then and then begin the enlisting process. Another requirement is that the Green Card and/or visa if the immigrant desiring to join the military must be valid for the entire period of their enlistment.

Being a U.S. citizen or legal immigrant of the United States is only one of the basic requirements to join the U.S. military.
