This is why the congressional races are the most important and they need to be real conservatives.

Years ago I worked with a Chinese woman who laughed at inappropriate times. I'm told that this is a Chinese habit when they are uncomfortable. She was young in China during Mao's "Great Leap Forward".

Anyway, we were talking about Halloween, and I mentioned carving pumpkins.
She said, "Pumpkins! Yes! We grew a lot of pumpkins in China!"
I said, "Really? I never knew that. I think of pumpkins as a very American, very New England kind of vegetable."
"Oh, no! We grew many pumpkins! My grandfather grew more pumpkins than anyone else in the village! That's why the government killed him."
And then she laughed in a very unnerving way.

Isn't Congress supposed to be the premier law-making body in this country, and isn't the EPA merely an agency of government?

You obviously can't name the four branches of gov't; Executive, Legislative, Judicial and ............. Regulatory.

In WA State, and many other states as well, they already use aerial photography to spy on rural areas to check for compliance with “farm plans” and zoning rules, as well as wetland compliance.

They hire an aerial photography company out of NY state to do the work in my county of WA State, so I know that other states are doing the same. They state dept of ecology and natural resources had their own plane that they used, but they were forced to give it up in budget cuts, so the wealthy environmentalists are donating their own time to do the photography.

Much of the environmental overreach is dependent on NGOs and appointed boards with private funding that insulates elected officials from the political blowback.

Well Yeah, but.
Congress is really too timid to reel in any agency and especially the EPA.
Just look at the Fast & Furious “investigation”.
The Seventeenth Amendment established direct election of United States Senators by popular vote. Now the Senate is not responsible to the state legislators, but to the voters, so they are just another pandering debating society. Each individual member amassing wealth and power for personal gain.
The House has always been a cauldron of individuals representing special interest groups. So expecting help from them is a real waste of time. I seriously doubt if 5% of the members of Congress has read the Constitution, much less tries to follow it.

Then all that should be needed is a phone call from someone in Congress to the EPA, telling them that this practice is to cease immediately.

Sorry, but legally incorrect.

Just as a Congress Menber cannot get you to stop something with a phone call, neither can a member simply call the EPA and tell them to stop.

Tht takes the passage of a bill, the the bill being signed into law by the prez. Likewise, what would happen if, as soon as a member call aid said "stop," another member called and said "Don't stop."

EPA is under the Executive Branch. With a more Conservative president, this would never have started.

Spy drones is just the next step.

A lot of the stories of “Black Helicopters” from the 90’s was the EPA.

We bought a backhoe in 1992 to clean out the ditches on our property.

They were flying over constantly while I was digging out the ditches.

Dropped down about 30-40 yards from me one time and started taking pictures.

I reached in the cooler and got a beer then waved at them.

Ruined their whole day.

A friend of mine had them drop down on him while he was mowing his fence line.

“Isn’t Congress supposed to be the premier law-making body in this country, and isn’t the EPA merely an agency of government?”

Glad you asked.

The EPA was not created by legislation, it was created by a Presidential Reorganization Plan (Nixon) which was “ratified” by two committees in Congress. It operates without proper legislative enactment and oversight, and it has done so for more than forty years.

Of course, if you elect a Marxist as President and he appoints environmental fantasists and communists to RUN the EPA, the results will be worse than if you elect Ronald Reagan, HOWEVER...

The whole premise of the EPA’s existence is rotten to the core (in constitutional terms). I’ve looked into how it could be dissolved, but since it was improperly created (in constitutional terms) it’s not clear how, exactly, Congress could do away with it.

This bastard process has now spawned things like the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), which, although it was created by (unconstitutional Obamacare) legislation, is immune from repeal or dissolution, by the terms of the legislation that created it. That’s right, Congress passed and the President signed a law which forbids Congress from repealing, defunding, or otherwise interfering with the operations of the IPAB, unless they do it by a 60% supermajority in each House during a six month window in 2017.

The time for restoration is drawing near.
