Jun 16, 2012 Romney’s Bus Tour Hits Speed Bump, Reroutes Due to Protesters

QUAKERTOWN, Pa. — The Romney bus tour hit a speed bump today when more than a hundred protesters showed up at a gas station where the presumptive GOP presidential candidate was scheduled to make a stop, and the candidate’s motorcade quickly rerouted to another location just three miles away.

Romney himself acknowledged the change in venue — his fourth scheduled stop on a five-day, six-state bus tour — while shaking hands with voters inside a WaWa gas station.

“I was asked, I think you asked me, why we’re at this Wawa, instead of the other WaWa? I understand I had a surrogate over there already, so we decided to pick a different place,” said Romney, who when initially asked about the change had joked that he had moved “just to get a good sandwich.”

“My surrogate is former Gov. Rendell, who said we could win Pennsylvania,” Romney said. “I’m happy to hear that, so we’re happy to be here and see some folks here.”

Despite Romney’s characterization of Ed Rendell, the former Democratic Pennsylvania governor is campaigning for President Obama in Pennsylvania. Romney was referring to an interview with Bloomberg News’ “Bloomberg View” that Rendell gave in which he the president would not win major sections of the battleground state.

According to local reports, Rendell, along with 150 to 200 anti-Romney protesters, had shown up at the original gas station to tout Obama’s message, speaking ahead of when Romney was scheduled to arrive.

We handled it just fine in Wisconsin. We just let the fools make asses of themselves then egged them on. It was close to the most fun we ever had. In past years the republican supporters hung back and ignored the rabble. This time we engaged them and crushed them. Their tens of millions of dollars wasted in the recall should make it just a little easier for the rest of you.

Molotov's, shots. All bad. I don't want to see it happen, natch but the Occupy crowd is still lurking out there and the union thugs are pissed over Wisconsin. Hell's Bells in my own family my youngest brother is a lowdown, no-good stinking liberal and he and I haven't said a word to each other since our mother died six years ago. One of my brothers-in-law, I mean I'd loved this guy, a rock-ribbed conservative until he got a job with the Pennsylvania Dept. of Highways and now he's spouting the government-as God bs and he's voting for Obama, brother that stunned the sh!t outta me! I'm not trying to be dramatic here, this is real sh!t going on in my own family. Christ Almighty if this were 1861 we'd be shooting at each other.

Which in reality probably means about 20 people.

I like it - he actually showed a bit of wit and humor to make fun of the enemy.

It may still come to that . If you do any reading into the history right before the Civil War you will find that a lot of “irregular warfare” took place in the border states.

Something similar could happen in swing states in the near future do to so many folks having poor impulse control & politicians playing the race card & class warfare rhetoric of kill the guy who is a little better off than you cause he obviously stole that money . Stay safe make your own plans & preparation accordingly.

Excitement on the campaign trail with the presumptive GOP nominee circa 2012. Avoiding some protesters and grabbing a meatball grinder. Four years ago this week.
