MOSCOW — Russia’s chief arms exporter said Friday that his company was shipping advanced defensive missile systems to Syria that could be used to shoot down airplanes or sink ships if the United States or other nations try to intervene to halt the country’s spiral of violence.
“I would like to say these mechanisms are really a good means of defense, a reliable defense against attacks from the air or sea,” Anatoly P. Isaykin, the general director of the company, Rosoboronexport, said Friday in an interview. “This is not a threat, but whoever is planning an attack should think about this.”

A couple of years ago, Russian made Syrian air defenses "went blind" just in time for an Israeli attack on some nuclear installation. Not sure if it was the Israelis or us that caused it. Either way, my money's on one of us having the "fix" for this new system.

Obama is openly supporting Al-Qaeda in Syria and openly supported AQ in Libya and the muslim brotherhood in Egypt.
As bizarre as it looks, Russia has chosen the lesser of two evil in Assad who is Alawite , not Sunni or Shia.
He'll wait until Russia's missile defense is in place, then he'll send in 180 F-22's to destroy it.
Of course he'll require the Raptors to fly with gear down and weapons bays open.
Oh, and no missiles.
And with all the leaks in our military and intelligence, I'm sure the Russians will know 3 weeks ahead of time when they're coming.
