RIALTO -- Rodney King, the black motorist whose 1991 videotaped beating by Los Angeles police officers led to riots a year later in South Central L.A., was declared dead early Sunday after being pulled from the bottom of his home's backyard swimming pool.

I’m amazed he didn’t die of a cocaine overdose 10 years ago.
Old Rod’s pool might need cleaning now but with this scumbag kicking the bucket he helped do a little cleaning on the gene pool.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Prolly drowning in debt.
Can’t we all just get some Oxygen???
Over/under on how many days before the po-lice charge her with murder?
Last night on one of the local LA stations, they showed a cop taking a large marijuana plant (at least 36” tall) out of the residence.
So now, he and thugvon can commisserate in h311
good one..
I’m amazed that all American flags haven’t been lowered to half mast.
Clearly his death was racially motivated, when do the riots start and L.A. burns?
Did William Shatner make the 911 call?
Rodney King had a pool in his back yard?
He could swim?????? Yes? No?
Ya gotta love it - “the black motorist”. Like card-carrying Auto Club member in good standing Rodney was just tooling down the highway in his roadster when the police decided to pull him over and beat the hell out of him.
I’m thinking of founding the Rodney King Institute for Non-Violent Conflict Resolution and hit the suckers up for donations. Why should Rodney’s “fiancee” be the only one to get rich off his legacy?
Yeah it kills me too how he was projected as just some gentle giant “Can’t..can’t ... can’ we all just get along” victim beaten at random by racist cops.
This guy was a menace to society, as prior and post events proved. The world is a better place today.
When he was awarded the millions by the jury his attorney petitioned the court not to give it to him all at once saying he'd be dead in months if they did. I heard that resulted in creating an annuity that gave his a smaller lump sum and something like 12,500 a month to get by on.
Great news to start the week with!
The “Untouchable one”, who could not be arrested post-riots, even when found having sex with an underage boy, is finally out of here!
Unlike most folk I paid attention on one of the FEW occasions (post riot, of course) when the UNEDITED video was shown.
Yes, one cop clearly went too far, throwing in some kicks AFTER he was under control.
That ONE cop should have been fired, or at least demoted to the lowest rank and fined.
But the drunk felon is awarded 3.8 Million, despite the death of dozens, then lionized as some sort of civil rights hero?
Only in Bizzaro Land!
The media whore’s who edited that tape, and the moron who sent it to the media without providing it to the PD Internal Affairs first, should all have been charged with the deaths of 55 people and millions in property damage.
CNN spent the entire weekend memorializing this stupid criminal.
I've always thought that term "motorist" more than a little laughable. It's one of those dignified-sounding descriptions of a person for whom no other dignified title fits (right up there with "political consultant" and "community organizer").
I recall how during the financial crisis of 2008 Rodney King bravely went on national television (all 7 channels) and issued an appeal to banks and lenders: “Can’t we all get a loan?!”
The Professor Jacobson blog, which I linked to through instapundit, has the unedited tape up on his site, but youtube took it down, as usual.
Well, OJ’s in prison and Rodney drowns in his own swimming pool. Sticking up for criminals always turns out so well.
I bet King is pretty green right now too.
Plant him under the green and be done with it. He’s nothing but fertilizer now.
Actually, I think he was always fertilizer.
Can’t we all just swim alone?
dang...that pool area looks ‘trashy’ for a millionaire...what price home did he live in?? anyone know and what type of neighborhood?
was the guy broke already?
