Is this the end of Eric Holder’s games?
NY Post ^ | 6-20-2012 | Michael A. Walsh

Which is why — unless he produces the documents before 10 a.m. this morning — Holder is looking at a House committee vote on contempt of Congress charges; once the full House goes along, he’ll be only the 11th official to be so cited since 1975.

Then what? Technically, the citation goes to the US attorney for DC to present to a grand jury. Usually, lawyers for the White House and Congress huddle and work out some accommodation — but relations may be too poisonous for that now.

Holder also has the option to simply not prosecute himself — which would surely set off a firestorm, as would any attempt by him or the president to assert executive privilege at this late date.

The last thing President Obama needs heading into the election is even more controversy over his hyper-politicized chief law-enforcement officer — especially with some in Congress already calling for a special prosecutor to investigate intelligence leaks emanating from the administration.

Obama will “make” a Republican Congress impeach Holder..he needs some more racist ammunition in his belt for the fall campaign.

RE :”Obama/Holder’s plan might work
According to Drudge, Holder is asking Obama to declare Executive Privilege.
I don’t think that will fly very well.

I recall that 2007 or 2008 there was similar standoff between Pelosi House judiciary (Conyers) and Bush administration and a few refused to testify under the same Privilege and so the Dems voted they were in contempt of congress and referred it to justice department who ignored it.

Then the whole thing went away till Holder took over, then Rove negotiated something so he wouldnt have to testify on TV.

My guess is that after a House vote Republicans will be out of options as long as obama is POTUS.

No I don't think Boehner is worried, he knows this 'contempt vote" will just roll off the back of Holder etc. like water. In 2008, the Democratic-led House Oversight Committee found former White House counsel Harriet Miers and Chief of Staff John Bolton in contempt for failing to cooperate with an inquiry into whether a purge of federal prosecutors by the Bush administration was politically motivated. The left doesn't care about facts...their aim is to kill...worried or not the GOP should take a page from their book. Bill Clinton fired all in the justice department when he took office...Bush should have done the same...the oft used "fairness" word means get Republicans to roll over...it doesn't apply to Progressives. (there is no democrat party anymore)

The votes are not “public”. But, let you Representative know that you will expect a public pronouncement on the issue of leadership.

“...get him!!...”

They’re trying. Gotta give Issa a lot of credit. He’s fighting Boehner and others in his own party, as well as the entire DemRat political machine.

Guy’s got balls. Say a prayer for him and the success of his endeavor here. Right now, he and Grassly are the only ones pushing hard on this.

What amazes me are the continued comparisons to Nixon...Nixon was an American, at least. And nobody died during Watergate.

This is just disgusting.

“...“If this was started by Bush, and ended by you, then you have nothing to hide. Turn over the documents...”

Bingo. Spot-on.

Like they say to us: If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to worry about.

RE ::”Holder committed a heinous criminal act.....get him!!

This one is easy,

The House will have their vote, Holder (and obama) will ignore it, the MSM will either ignore it or cite it as more political noise by Republicans. Republicans will use it in fund-raising letters. Democrats will use it in fund-raising letters. Holder will still be attorney general in December. If Romney wins his AG will do nothing about it.

Republicans have no follow-up plan.

For my edification - what IS the next step after a contempt vote?

Is there no law enforcement avenue available other than impeachment?

Good question.

In 2007 or 2008 the Pelosi/Conyers judiciary held similar votes on contempt of GWB WH officials for refusing to testify to them under oath.
The next step is to refer the case to AG Holder for prosecution, in this case they will send him his own House indictment. Then he ignores it. Then Republicans do nothing,

This Boehner House session scores huge points in ‘talk’, but low grades in ‘results’.

Lets see what opinion polls do two weeks after the vote. We got an election coming up and Romney has not moved up in the polls after two bad weeks for Obama and then his late week amnesty announcement.

I would like to see Romney grab a microphone and a camera and make a very public statement -

“If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about. What is this administration hiding, and why?”

Throw the onus on them to “come clean”. Over and over and over again.

Clarification :technically they were Bush ‘advisors’ not ‘officials’ I believe. The AG still had to testify under oath, but my point is the AG will just ignore the referral/indictment.

We all know the Left’s take on guns.

Here you have a Leftist president covering for a guy who was involved in (evil) gun running.

Yep, that’s right, he was (EVIL) gun running. As THE PRESS would describe them if some guy on the street had committed a crime with them, “FULLY AUTOMATIC LARGE MAGAZINE MILITARY MACHINE GUNS!”

Here’s what the entire Left had to say about that, “ “.

Lefties, “BEST PRESIDENT EVER!” Oh that’s right, he wasn’t vile enough for them. He didn’t follow through with what he promised.

One can only imagine what the Left would really like to back for president.

Don't hold your breath. He will do that when he explains what he would do with Obama’s amnesty order as/if POTUS, and what programs he would cut funding from, etc.

You have faith in him?

As for Nixon...

At least there was no gun running involved.

At least there were no dead law enforcement officers.

At least there was a citizen in the Oval Office.

At least Nixon had personal documents...

At least we know where Nixon was born.

“...You have faith in him? ...”

I Didn’t say that.

I said, I’d like to see it happen.

If I was a politician, I’d waste no time in throwing the searchlight back on the other side, and hammer that talking point until it made their noses bleed.

But yeah, you’re right...I’m not going to hold my breath on it. If the next step is to go the AG, and Holder IS the AG, then this is a circle jerk at the end of the day.

But the good thing is, it shines a light and points a finger, and some people who aren’t paying attention might wake up a little.

Yeah, ultimately it’s TO take all guns.

Good luck with that...
