Mary Cheney, the openly gay daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, has married her long-time partner Heather Poe, The Daily Caller has learned.

Cheney spokeswoman Kara Ahern confirmed to TheDC that the couple married Friday morning in Washington, D.C.

In a statement provided to TheDC, both the former vice president and his wife, Lynne, said they are “delighted” the couple could have their “relationship recognized.”

“Our daughter Mary and her long time partner, Heather Poe, were married today in Washington, DC,” the Cheneys said.

Poe and Mary Cheney have two children: Cheney gave birth to a son in 2007, and a daughter in 2009. They live together in Virginia.

“Mary and Heather have been in a committed relationship for many years, and we are delighted that they were able to take advantage of the opportunity to have that relationship recognized,” the Cheneys said. “Mary and Heather and their children are very important and much loved members of our family and we wish them every happiness.”

“We are all so happy for Heather and Mary and their beautiful kids,” friend and former Cheney adviser Mary Matalin told TheDC. “Happy and moved by the blessing of their commitment and strength.”

“His cross to beer”
It’s more like something he has yet to recognize the problem. Dick Cheney’s a long time homo agenda promoter. I remember reading about it from when he was on the board of Procter and Gamble.

Well, this should really make your head explode... I’ll be playing my GUITAR tonight at a coffee shop with that gay friend, along with my husband. We’re the halftime show for ANOTHER gay artist that just put out an awesome new cd. But, sadly, we don’t use a tamborine.

They already have two kids.

No, they do not.

Cheney conceived a child with the help of a sperm donor.

This "Heather Poe" creature was not involved in the process.

And they aren't married, either, regardless of whatever perverse activities they engage in, or whatever farcical ceremonies they may have performed, or whatever risible government paperwork they may have filed.

They are twisted, deluded, unfortunate souls who are seeking affirmation in their mental illness rather than getting the help they desperately need.

May God be merciful to them ... may He grant them the grace of repentance and conversion.

Of course that would explain the DUI’s and the hunting accidents! Damn fat fingers + spell check = silliness!

Pardon me! I had to step away from the computer to take my elderly mother to a dr appointment. Now trying to respond to all you haters on her phone while I wait. Yes I think God is compassionate, unlike many here who WANT people to burn at the stake. That’s compassion? Is that how you show it? And people wonder why so many are turned off by ‘religion’. One of the biggest reasons I don’t click on the religion threads...too many know it all’s.

I wish them happiness.
As do I. I know a LOT of gay people. One of whom is one of my best friends. I would never deny her happiness. Most of my gay friends show more caring and compassion then a LOT of people on this board. Flame away, I don't give a rats ass. I also admire the Cheneys quite a bit.

Perhaps all your gay friends are the exceptions to the rule but I have never met a truly "happy" homosexual. They are consistently never able to maintain a real romantic relationship which is coupled by at least moderate mental issues. Professionally I run into two types of homosexuals, one is the constant domestic abuser, the second is the suicidal, on many occasions I've even ran into the older/younger stalker relationship paradigm. None of them have been had ever been "happy".
Neither personally nor professionally have I yet to run into a homosexual couple that was "normal" (in any way) with the normal man-woman- hetero couple problems.

I am confused by your posts.

Are you saying you support redefining marriage to include same-sex couples?

Do you think persons who do not support redefining marriage to include same-sex couples must then hate or even just dislike gay people?

Is this a legal marriage or is this just a non-legally recognized private ceremony?

Two carpet munchers living together in a clam shack is not a marriage.

Correction, Mary Cheney has two children the other woman has none.

I have ran into aproximately ONE couple who could be considered gay, and one of them was intersexed from birth and they both didn’t drink the whole “Gay is a Lifestyle not a preference” Kool-aid. And were very much conservative and socially far less liberal than the other gay folks, they both never went to the “gay pride” events because they were disgusted by the public displays of affection and outright nudity/hedonism.

Finding a truly happy “gay” couple is like finding a minority of a minority of a minority. Like finding a Black Jewish Conservative.

I'm in the minority here but good for them. It's not my business and it is not my place to judge. I do not care if the state or in this case, District of Columbia certifies their marriage.

If they choose to get married in a Church, then okay that's a different story.

Agreed.......although I'm not sure what "intersexed from birth" really means.

Go push your homosexual agenda somewhere else.

I am pleased to see that you used one of the correct words ("homosexual") to describe this relationship. I would have chosen "queer" myself.

"Gay" is the word they have chosen for themselves and in the process have forever ruined a perfectly good English word by its association with these sexual distortions in our society.
