Former Democratic Vice President Walter Mondale and former Republican Gov. Arne Carlson became the public faces of a fight against a proposed Minnesota constitutional amendment requiring voters to present photo IDs at the polls.
The pair was introduced Tuesday, June 27, as two of four co-chairs of the Our Vote Our Future coalition's campaign against the ballot measure. Voters will decide in November whether to make government-issued photo identification essential to participating in an election.
The coalition's advisory committee is decidedly heavy with former Democratic officeholders.
This spring, the Republican-controlled Legislature advanced the measure to the ballot without the support of any Democratic lawmakers. Constitutional amendments don't go before the governor, so Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton had no chance to stop a proposal he opposed. A lawsuit aiming to keep the amendment off the ballot is pending.

Voter ID would have prevented Al “dufus” Franken from being “elected” a U.S. Senator.
Guess the dems are pulling out the big guns for this battle (lol)!
How many people in Minnesota still know who Carlson and Mondale are?
bwaahah big GUNS ? BIG GUNS my BOA.....these bumblers left out JESSIE ‘a mind is s...’ Ventura. He’s a genuine MIN, hero...if ANYBODY’S a big gun it’s jessie.....hell these 3 could have gone on an historic american city tour with wrasstlin’ matches and any number of oddities n side shows like the fat man the midget al franken’s comedy show....the hairy lady; too they could’ve peddled ‘WE LOVE FRAUD’ TEE SHIRTS n all sorts and manner of other gewgaws and gimcracks. I don’t get it.
Bottom line: goodbye, Senator Franken.
Just why do the DIMocRATs and the RINOs hate Free America? Why don’t they take their guilt and d self-loathing to its logical end? I will happily supply the rope.

Exactly!!! That is why there can NEVER be compromise with the left. One cannot compromise with communist evil.
These people are idiots. In Minnesota and most every place else you need a picture ID to do anything from buying beer and cigarettes, pay by check, board a plane, check into a hotel, get a fishing licenses and yes, even apply for welfare benefits. So exactly who would be disenfranchised from voting by requiring a picture ID other than illegal aliens and those engaging in voter fraud? After the razor thin margins in recent Minnesota elections where even a small percentage of illegal voters could and likely did sway the results, you would think that requiring voter ID would be critical to fair elections.
Is he still alive? wow
should have read all the posts before I replied...
(I don't have any evidence there was voter fraud in Minnesota in 1984...just speculating based on the usual Democratic behavior.)
only brain dead.
Alive?? My thots too.
And I know Arnie is a rino - but WTfrick Arnie??
Voter ID is a no-brainer...
Maybe I’m missing it - or maybe it’s the MSM - but why don’t Republicans put more pressure on the Do-Nothing Democrats? Whenever someone is lambasting proponents of voter integrity, no one is questioning opponents (a/k/a Democrats), “Do you have any proposal to control voter fraud? Do you deny that there is any voter fraud? Do you not care about the integrity of the vote?” It’s all pretty shocking.
I feel a particular loathing for Mondale because I worked for a union during his egregious campaign and had to stamp ‘Mondale/Ferraro’ on every piece of mail that went out.
I think of how ridiculous this is every time I’m asked for my driver’s license now.
Like yesterday at the rental car place.
Arne Carlson endorsed Obama in 2008. Apparently still a horse’s butt.
