It means you are not being forced to buy anything. Only that you have an option not to, but must pay a tax if you don’t.

So in other words.. if I don't want to purchase something I have to pay a tax in order not to purchase that something?

What the heck kind of ruling is that?

“Roberts decided with the Left on Arizona and Stolen Valor as well as Obamacare. Thank you, George W. Bush.”

The common thread: Lying. Roberts is OK with the President lying about whether or not he will uphold the law of the land, and OK with people lying about military service, and OK with Congress lying to the American people about whether a proposed law is a tax. No need to move the Fast and Furious scandal into the courts.... if it gets to the Supremes, Roberts’ decision is a foregone conclusion.

But it says per SCOTUSblog: In opening his statement in dissent, Kennedy says: “In our view, the entire Act before us is invalid in its entirety.”

What we find today is that a bill that does not contain the word tax and was passed by Congress and signed by the President on that basis, has now been ruled by edict by the SCOTUS to include a tax.

Therefore, the SCOTUS has just created a tax on the U. S. Citizens, this in and of itself a violation of the U. S. Constitution.

“Our only hope is to defeat this guy in November. I don’t care how little enthusiasm everyone has for Romney, please get over it and vote for him. To save our country.”

AMEN! Anyone who doesn’t do ALL they can to get this radical, Marxist, Muslim, America-hating demon OUT of our WH either wants more of him to completely take this country down or doesn’t realize how completely, actively dangerous he is.

This SCOTUS decision is flabbergasting. Sickening. I never dreamed that the mandate, much less the rest of this travesty, would stand in any way.

Meant NOT full of fluff. I guess this validates the originally laughable position that was voiced early on that the administration was going to play to Roberts’ previous views on taxation. We laughed at the time, but they were spot on.

You make a good point on de funding. I haven’t seen this opinion online, but I am thinking that what the SC said is that it could be held valid as a tax, but would need to be re-written and passed by Congress. I’m not sure I’m right, but, if this is so good luck passing a new tax in Congress in an election year.

This is a magnificent, and accurate, post. Downticket is absolutely vital in November even if we have a thoroughly horrible Presidential candidate

Romney has ONE chance to get this right. He needs to say, today, that he will repeal this monstrosity immediately -- in full and without exception. Give the Congressional candidates something to run on.

The Tea Party has just been thrown into hyperdrive. If Romney wants conservatives on board, the Chief Weasel of the United States Supreme Court has just given him the opportunity.

In other words, as everyone feared, it really only came down to what side of the bed Kennedy woke up on. Right? Kennedy.

Kennedy was in favor of complete repeal, apparently. Roberts, and Roberts alone, bears the blame for this decision, because the reliably statist/liberal 4 were foregone conclusions anyway.

Megan Kelly on Fox News dramatically pronounces that Supreme Court has decisively refused Congress’s attempt to gain unprecedented power via the Commerce Clause, while failing to add that they simultaneously gave Congress that exact same unprecedented (and virtually unlimited) power via taxation.

It’s now official. America is not a free country.

And what will we do tomorrow, yeah post a few posts of disappointment.Same thing we did when the Obama monster passed the Dream Act Amnesty by itself without the approval of congress.

And of course, the most important thing, is to remember to vote republican this November, because that will make such a big difference in how this country is run.

Do I really need a sarcasm tag?

This was a political decision by the court, just like the Arizona decision was. The Obama administration dared the court to go against it, and the court blinked, big time. I welcome many of you to the realization that the Republic ceased to exist long ago.

6-3 overall, but he saved the mandate. Kennedy is actually reading the dissent.

Actually, it was 5-4. Kennedy voted with Alito, Scalia, & Thomas. OK, I thought I was going to throw up when I heard; HOWEVER, perhaps there is a silver lining.

1. Obama has passed the LARGEST tax increase in the history of our Republic. Get the commercials ready using his own words. 2. Obama can't fire up his "folk" with the meme that 4 white guys and an Uncle Tom took away your health care. 3. Congress can't penalize the States for not expanding their Medicaid funding.

We need to get fired up, get mobilized and hammer this. Removing Obama and 2010 Redux is our only hope. IMHO
