You are absolutely right. But my guess is that the McCain et al. will not go after it. My question about the opinion is how the penalty cannot be called a direct tax and therefore apportioned among the states according to lpopulation.

The idiot Bush strikes again.

He laid the groundwork for Obama. That is beyond debate now.

I’m no Kathleen Parker fan but she was right that critics were trying to get under Roberts’ skin and I quote,
“Publicly chastising the court — and now taunting Roberts specifically — seems to have two purposes. One is to get under Roberts’s skin in the hopes that he’ll rule the “correct,” if not necessarily “legally correct,” way. Two is to lay the groundwork for declaring the court illegitimate if all or part of Obamacare is overturned.
Either way, it’s politics at its filthiest and is beneath the dignity of the court — and of the White House. Unfortunately for Roberts, it’s up to the chief justice to hold the bar high.”

Unfortunately, it looks like they succeeded.

Slow down all, the Medicare decision may yet blow this all up yet.

Even Kennady was against this. My mind is totally blown by this ruling and who voted for it.

Romney better get his a$$ to the microphones pronto and give a statement on this. Where is he?

“If the GOP is smart, they can hang the “LARGEST TAX INCREASE IN HUMAN HISTORY” on B.Hussein and the Dems.”

Sorry, but that is almost as unlikely to happen as the SCOTUS actually upholding the CONSTITUTION. Ovomit has been given new life and will trumpet this to the nth degree as proof that he was “right” and all his mindless minions who suck the life out of those of us who actually work and pay taxes will keep their sorry asses in office just to make sure the teets are available for them to keep sucking on.

To think the GOP will do anything but roll over is wishful thinking. Romney and the rest will feign outrage, promise to “overturn” it IF they win in November and that will be it. IF they are lucky enough to win the WH and put both the Senate and House in the GOP control, they won’t do squat. The dems will filibuster, scream bloody murder and use their MSM lapdogs to paint the GOP as evil tyrants and the GOP will roll over.

Plain and simple. And you can bet that once this is in place, NO ONE will have the balls to ever try and touch it. Just like Social Security, it will be the “third rail” of every political debate that NO ONE will go anywhere near.

On the contrary, this has awakened a sleeping giant. Now, anyone who does not get out and vote against Obama is officially an enemy of the United States.

I’ll add that to me right now Roberts seems to have been swayed by a preoccupation with his own legacy, rather than doing the right thing for our country.

“The one silver lining in this, is that the mandate is now officially a TAX. The Dems can’t run from it anymore. If the GOP is smart, they can hang the “LARGEST TAX INCREASE IN HUMAN HISTORY” on B.Hussein and the Dems.”

The army of bureaucrats of the IRS is going to increase dramatically and become even more tyrannical.

Well now that it is a tax it can be “adjusted” for the needy by increasing the earned income tax credit. Just became another avenue for another massive redistribution of wealth.

It’s like suddenly getting nailed with another house payment

Wait until people selling their home 1-1-2013 find out they have to pay a 4% tax when they sell their home for this
healthcare mandate.

His legacy will be the "Roberts Tax." Some legacy.

"I don’t see how families, who are already barely making it month to month, can pay for a mandate. It’s like suddenly getting nailed with another house payment."

Time to file bankruptcy to get rid of our debts so we can pay to support other people.
