You missed my point.
The Court just gave Congress unlimited tax power.
They can force us to buy anything as long as they call it a “tax”.
Let me give you a parallel.
Our government sold guns to Mexican drug gangs. We haul in Eric Holder and confront him. He smiles and tells us “Don’t worry: not all of the guns have been used in gun crimes.”
But the gangs still have the guns!
Same thing here.
Yes - our Congress can repeal this.
And the next Congress can make us buy Chevy Volts, solar panels on our homes, bottles of wine from Pelosi’s vineyard.
As long as they call it a “tax” they have the court’s blessing.
There is NOTHING stopping them.
Our Republic is dead.
Yeah - you’d better be real careful who you vote for from now on. You vote wrong ONE TIME and we’re all screwed.
And maybe Roberts DID think he wanted to smack an unruly America across the butt for letting things get to the juncture that an Obamacare was even possible — but that is not what he was hired to do. He was hired to defend the constitution, period.
All Roberts did was to recognize the Congress has the power to tax. His comments are just dicta. There were NOT fives votes to expand the scope of the commerce clause.
They can force us to buy anything as long as they call it a tax.
They'll be voted out of office at the first chance, and such foolery will be repealed.
2010 was just a start. Only one third of the Senate is up every two years. There are 23 rat seats in the Senate that are at risk in 2012, of which 7 are open, and almost as many rat seats in the Senate that are at risk in 2014. There's no tolerance for new spending when we already have a mountain of debt as big as our annual GDP, if not greater! The Tea Party isn't going away.
