ScienceCasts: The Surprising Power of a Solar Storm
NASA Science ^ | March 22, 2012 | NASA Science

A flurry of solar activity in early March dumped enough heat in Earth's upper atmosphere to power every residence in New York City for two years. The heat has since dissipated, but there's more to come as the solar cycle intensifies.

At 2:16 minutes into the video it very clearly says that the CO2 is one of the most efficient coolants in the atmosphere and that it reflected 95% of the radiation back into outer space. This entire series of videos is excellent.

My question, is CO2 in the atmosphere preventing global warming based upon the statements by these scientists?

I guarantee you that 0.039% of the atmosphere is not going to be reflecting 95% of incoming solar storm energy back into space.

“Solar activity / instability at present is the highest it has been since the end of the last ice age,”* says geologist Robert Schoch, Ph.D., in this startling video from thunderbolts.info

“A major solar outburst could end an ice age, incinerate the surface of the Earth (leaving only large stone structures remaining). create deluges of Biblical proportions as plasma would evaporate water and ice which would later be re-precipitate, and the cataclysm would force survivors to seek shelter in thick stone buildings, caves, and underground,” says Schoch.

That is not correct. This solar cycle will be one of the weakest since we had our last mini-Ice age. Even NASA predicts that now. Just look at the last week. We are supposed to be getting close to maximum.

And you can see here how much it has dropped off in the last year.

Perhaps he is referring to the variable of activity verses instability.

Depends on the time frame. If you are looking solar activity over the past 20,000 years then he is correct.

Humans were not making solar cycle observations 20,000 years ago. Can only make crude approximations using proxy data for that time period. Here you can see that higher activity levels began around 1750 after the Maunder Minimum mini-Ice Age and again at around 1840 for the Dalton Minimum.

That is more or less the extent of our observations. So is he saying that we have entered a higher activity level starting around 1750-1840 ? Recent solar activity has been trending downward since the modern peak during the late 1950's and early 1960's.
