Rep. Waxman: Republicans can repeal Obamacare with 51 votes
The Washington Examiner ^ | July 2, 2012 | Joel Gehrke

Republicans can repeal Obamacare with a 51-vote majority in the U.S. Senate through budget reconciliation, according to an architect of the health care law, Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., who also made a death panel-style indictment of the Republican budget.

“I think they could do it,” Waxman told Newsmakers when asked about reconciliation. “I think the American people have to understand that if they vote for Romney and they vote for Republicans to have control of the house and the senate, there’s a good chance that the health care bill will be wiped out and all these benefits will be wiped out.”

After denouncing Republicans for saying that Obamacare would lead to death panels — people who ration health care and thus end up denying care to some people — Waxman deployed the same kind of argument against Republicans.

through budget reconciliation

If anyone needed any more information on exactly WHY the US Senate has failed to produce a budget for around 1100 days this should answer all of your questions.

NO BUDGET, no budget reconciliation. The end.

Yep, the Democrats will be rallying their troops with this information, so we need to be doing the same!

1776? I hope you are right. We drove away the Tories, confiscated their property . . . it wasn’t pretty, revolutions never are. Imagine the sight of Pelosi/Reid running for their lives, seeking refuge en La Casa Blanca.

Waxhead is right that the Republicans need a simple majority in the Senate but, in reality, it always takes about 54 Republicans to do the work of 51 once RINOs like Olympia Snow and That Traitor Bastard McCain gum up the works.

He looked round the canteen again. Nearly everyone was ugly, and would still have been ugly even if dressed otherwise than in the uniform blue overalls. On the far side of the room, sitting at a table alone, a small, curiously beetle-like man was drinking a cup of coffee, his little eyes darting suspicious glances from side to side. How easy it was, thought Winston, if you did not look about you, to believe that the physical type set up by the Party as an ideal--tall muscular youths and deep-bosomed maidens, blond-haired, vital, sunburnt, carefree--existed and even predominated. Actually, so far as he could judge, the majority of people in Airstrip One were small, dark, and ill-favoured. It was curious how that beetle-like type proliferated in the Ministries: little dumpy men, growing stout very early in life, with short legs, swift scuttling movements, and fat inscrutable faces with very small eyes. It was the type that seemed to flourish best under the dominion of the Party.

Too bad the Russian people couldn't have stopped the Bolsheviks with 1 vote 100 years ago.
Too bad the Germans couldn't have stopped Hitler with 1 vote.

Yeah I'll take one vote if that works.

The nagging fear that I have is that our “learned” Republican Senators and Reps will come up with a replacement plan rather than accept the fact that they are really no smarter than the Democrats and should just turn it over to the states to handle as they see fit.

I have the same fear, Grams. There's something in the air around D.C. that infects legislators with the "I know how to do it better" virus.
