Conservative Wonderboy Grows Up, Embraces Obamacare and Philosophy
Atlantic Wire via Yahoo News ^ | 3 July 2012 | Elspeth Reeve

Posted on 07/03/2012 7:44:46 AM PDT by edpc

Like so many teenagers, Jonathan Krohn says he cringes when he thinks of some of the deeply uncool things he said when he was 13. Unlike most teenagers, Krohn said those things on camera in a speech at the 2009 Conservative Political Action Conference, making him a YouTube sensation. Now? Krohn tells Politico's Patrick Gavin he's not a conservative anymore. He likes gay marriage and Obamacare. He's going to New York University in the fall. He name drops German philosophers. But his old fans can't accept that he's changed. "Come on, I was thirteen," he told Politico. "I was thirteen."

Sounds more like the kid's overly impressionable, prone to following what's "in" and will inevitably change his mind again. Give it a decade or less, when he's responsible for making his own way. I'll bet some of those conservative ideas resurface.

Then again.....maybe not. Some never get there and truly 'grow up' despite what this ridiculous title states.

Yahoo reaks of liberalism.

Do a search for "Rush Limbaugh" and Yahoo returns five Liberal hit blogs at the top of the page, even above Rush's own website. Despite the fact that rushlimbaugh.com blows them all away in the number of hits.

Here's a conservative writer's take:

How to Win a Glowing Profile In Politico: Betray Right, 'Swing Left'

Some of you might remember Jonathan Krohn, the adorable conservative whiz kid who gave speeches and wrote books and wowed every conservative adult he came across at the tender age of thirteen. Oh, wait, if you’re stupid enough to only get your news from the corrupt Politico, you probably don’t. Because up until today, Politico didn't give Mr. Krohn a whole lot of attention. In fact, according to Politico's own search engine, here's the sum total of the attention Krohn's received since stepping onto the national stage in 2009 at CPAC: two videos and an "Arena" plug after he apparently (the link is dead) became useful to Politico after accusing the GOP of "whining." For years this young conservative phenom was out there and unless its search engine is faulty, Politico couldn't bring itself to cobble together 300 words about him. That all changed today, though. Today Krohn earned himself a big, splashy, loving, affectionate, thousand-word Politico profile. Why? Because Krohn's a left-winger now.

###

Not just uncool, but “deeply uncool”. Puerile stupidity and propagandizing.

Conservativism is as cool as it gets.

I wouldn’t expect a vacuous 16 year old, or an ignorant “journalist” with the handle of “Elspeth”, to even remotely fathom that truism.

And now he is 15....

http://i.huffpost.com/gen/158073/thumbs/r-KROHN-large570.jpg

Jonathan Krohn, conservative prodigy and author of the book “Define Conservatism,” may not fit the typical Tea Party demographic — or some of their talking points.

“I don’t think Obama’s a socialist or evil, I just think he’s wrong and I disagree with him, he’s a leftist, that’s what they are in France and in Great Britain and in Canada,” Krohn told Neil Cavuto on the Fox Business Channel at a Tea Party rally in Atlanta Thursday.

“My dad thinks Obama is a socialist and all these extreme views,” Krohn added.

“There are crazies on both ends,” the teenager said when asked to respond about how liberals were painting conservatives as extremists. But, if people started to pursue fact based political arguments, Krohn said, people would “stop being obnoxious and stop spreading all this filth — some people are socialists or fascists and stuff.”

I think he was, at first, a major target for the left. He was dangerous for them, so they put in a lot of effort into distorting his reality in school.
THEN, while doing so, some liberal homo trapped him in a back room somewhere.

I'll bet his parents are horrified. I also think they know what's happened to their boy, but the money is just too good to pass up, so they won't say anything about it.

Wow. This dumb kid thinks that labels are just labels, that there is no reason to apply them for any reason other than simple ad hominem or to demonize someone as an extremist.

Now the kid is all starry eyed over crappy German philosophers. That alone will poison his life.

I feel bad for his father, his kid is obviously much, much smarter than his father, who he apparently despises as an extremist spreading “filth”. Huh. I wonder where THAT characterization came from...”filth”.

I had an exchange with him on twitter yesterday after I commented on a Page Six story with the headline something like: Conservative Kid now swings Left to which I replied, “Conservative kid swings toward where the camera is.” The kid Jonathan swoops in and tells me I am wrong. Then I speculated he must be an attention whore because what kid ends up at the CPAC convention. He denied this emphatically so I did a simple search that produced a 2009 NY Times article that described Jonathan as a “child actor” and his mother as a former actress who now teaches acting.” After confronting Jonathan with these facts he continued to deny that he was just a guy who loves the spotlight.

Yes, well here in the Pacific Northwest our temps are 10 degrees BELOW normal for this time of year. And, actually, since last winter we have had cooler than normal temps.

If it is "global" warming, then shouldn't it be, ya know, "global"? The AGW crowd always gloms onto anything that supports their "theory", and studiously ignore anything that might refute it, like facts.

Phases. At his age I thought Nietszche was pretty hot, too. Wittgenstein will act as an antidote once he figures out what the guy was actually talking about and starts applying it. It takes time.

I'm glad he's decided that parroting an idea isn't the same thing as actually thinking about it. That's a rule that can be very uncomfortable for those for whom life is all about feelings.

I'll bet some of those conservative ideas resurface.

I strongly suspect the number of people who change from liberal/progressive ideas to a Conservative belief system dwarfs the alternative. I know many that have made the switch over the years and very few (if any personally) that suddenly woke up one day with stupid lefty thoughts.

I hardly think a pre-teen/teen is really well grounded in political ideas and is subject to what is popular with his peers at the moment.

“He’s gay.”

Very possibly, but that overlooks how this generation looks at “gay rights.” To them it’s the equivalent of civil rights for blacks in the 60’s. I’ve seen 2 of my own kids switch from conservative to liberal over ‘gay rights,’ because some of their friends are gay. You see, in their estimation, public policy should be based on anecdotal evidence and how people feel about it.

Did your kids learn about what the blacks went through in the south during the civil rights? I have friends since collage and we part ways over gay marriage.

I talk politics with my kids all the time and take them to church too. I point out liberal hypocrisies and the vile acts they commit against conservatives who speak out on their beliefs. If your kids are liberal, they may be only getting one side of a situation.

My kids’ dad actually worked with the civil rights movement in the Mississippi Delta in the 60s, so they are fully aware of what that part was all about. They grew up as Rush Babies, were taken to conservative and Republican functions throughout their childhood. They have a very good grounding in the principles this country was founded on.

We can just hope that the foundation they were given will come into play as they mature. THO ... sometimes as I peruse threads here, I don’t want to identify with some who call themselves ‘conservatives,’ either. Vile people on both ends of the political spectrum.

Today's youth have replaced reason for emotionalism. "Symbolism over substance", as Rush would call it. It's lost on me how anyone can think gay marriage is a civil rights issue..... I also think it's offensive when gays compare it to how blacks have struggled in this country. They just don't compare.

I'm trying to teach me kids the history of liberalism and some of their banner causes they've supported. Once you get past their "we care" mantra, you'll see the evil for what it is.
