Rep. Jackson's condition 'more serious' than thought, getting in-patient treatment By Daniel Strauss - 07/05/12 11:56 AM ET

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.), who took a leave of absence from Congress, is suffering from a medical condition more serious than "initially believed," according to a statement from his office.

The nine-term lawmaker is receiving "in-patient" treatment for "certain physical and emotional ailments," the statement noted. It did not provide additional details about his illness or how long he would be absent from Capital Hill.

"Congressman Jackson's medical condition is more serious than we thought and initially believed," Jackson spokesman Frank Watkins said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. "Recently, we have been made aware that he has grappled with certain physical and emotional ailments privately for a long period of time."

The Illinois congressman had been on medical leave since June 10 because of exhaustion. He is receiving treatment at a medical facility, according to Watkins.

"At present, he is undergoing further evaluation and treatment at an in-patient medical facility," the statement continues. "According to the preliminary diagnosis from his doctors, Congressman Jackson will need to receive extended in-patient treatment as well as continuing medical treatment thereafter. We ask that you keep Congressman Jackson and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult period."

Jackson is favored for reelection after fending off a tough primary challenge from former Rep. Debbie Halvorson (D-Ill.) earlier this year.

Since his medical leave, Jackson's office had remained fairly quiet about his location and health.

If this public SERVANT cannot tell everyone what he has, he should resign.

>”certain physical and emotional ailments,”

Common code words for bipolar & schizophrenic disorders, possibly bought on by drug or alcohol stressors

Hope it’s contagious to Democrats.

Few things are more contagious among the Left than treason.

Exhaustion usually means “I got arrested and I need an alibi”.

“Yes I was carrying 2 kilos of cocaine in my trunk with 4 automatic weapons but there is a good explanation. I was exhausted. It also explains the video with the stripper that turned out to be a Chinese agent. I’m really tired. “

He is hiding to avoid any public pronouncements or other embarrassments. The day after his “re-election” he will emerge from hiding.

Lord Obama, ... should lay his healing hands on JJ jr to heal whatever his affliction.

I'm pretty sure Gaylord would love to lay his hands on JJ.

>> He’s suffering from an acute case of corruption. <<

Nobody buys the official "exhaustion" explanation, but I'm not gonna complain. Every day without Jesse Jackson Jr. in Congress is a beautiful day.

>> Jackson is favored for reelection after fending off a tough primary challenge from former Rep. Debbie Halvorson (D-Ill.) earlier this year. <<

"Favored"?! "Tough"?! Only in the eyes of the mainstream media. Jackson lost 2 out of 3 counties in his newly redrawn district (Will and Kankakee) but STILL managed to win that primary with over 70% of the vote, thanks to overwhelming support in Crook County. Jackson could have sat home with Andrew Jackson as his RAT primary opponent and he would have won easily. His constituents are completely brain dead. Ditto with the general election. Other RATs like Dan Rostencowski will lose if they get indicted. Jr. could be caught slaughtering small children in satanic ceremonies and he'd STILL win the general election over a Republican. Adolf Hitler would win that district running as a RAT.
