(GunReports.com) -- If you think it is hard to own and possess a semi-automatic firearm in California now, just wait until Senate Bill 249 gets enacted, NRA-ILA reports.
Senate Bill 249 was amended from an agriculture bill to a serious anti-gun bill to eliminate the ownership and possession of most semi-automatic firearms by law-abiding Californians. SB 249, introduced by state Senator Leland Yee (D-8), would restrict any person from importing, making, selling, loaning, transferring or possessing magazine release components in semi-auto firearms (bullet button, etc).
Senate Bill 249, if enacted, would ban the ownership and possession of AR-15s and other magazine-fed semi-automatic firearms that currently use "bullet buttons" or other tools to restrict the removal of the magazine. This anti-gun bill would also authorize civil and criminal penalties for possessing a "conversion kit."
Also, SB 249 would make the possession of a "conversion kit" a public nuisance, authorize civil and criminal penalties and require surrendering the conversion kit. According to this bill, a conversion kit is any combination of parts that, when affixed to a firearm with a fixed magazine, are designed and intended to convert that firearm into an assault weapon as defined in the bill.
The only alternative left to us will soon be to stop being “law abiding” citizens.
Sure is nice to have shown Kalifornia my ass years ago.
So, in California Soviet Socialist Republic.....white folks cannot have semi-automatic weapons?
You know the minority gang bangers are still going to have semi-autos
I submit that there are now so many interlocking and contradictory law that none of us can possibly be a “law abiding” citizen.
I’m pretty sure that’s the whole point.
Constitutionalist who live in Klownifornia should stage an armed march on Sacramento. A few hundred thousand angry, armed citizens might make an impression on a few dozen LGBT poofs in the statehouse.
As soon as the economy picks up, I’m out of this %#@&^ state.
“Did you really think we want those laws observed?” said Dr. Ferris. “We want them to be broken. You’d better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts you’re up against... We’re after power and we mean it... There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals.
Well, when there aren’t enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted and you create a nation of law-breakers and then you cash in on guilt. Now that’s the system, Mr. Reardon, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.” (Atlas Shrugged 1957)
And meanwhile in Texas we ENCOURAGE gun ownership and going to Church.
And meanwhile in Texas we ENCOURAGE gun ownership and going to Church.
Another example of Calif chicanery.
The original bill was totally an ‘agricultural’ bill.
It got passed & then GOT GUTTED & turned into an anti gun bill.
This should be unlawful.
When real criminals cannot be controlled - new criminals are created which can be controlled.
Same here, I’m applying for anything that looks vaguely like what I do (semiconductor processing/MEMS) anywhere but California.
CA is a lost cause anyway. They might as well go ahead and ban all firearms completely.
Would be more for the rest of us.
Someone will just build a fixed mag hi cap lower that takes stripper clips.
Pop the rear receiver pin, tilt the upper forward, install stripper clip and charge the weapon. Voila!
“minority gang bangers”
YOU are the minority in California!
The gang bangers come from the majority culture in California.
Don’t know why it posted twice, apparently the computer thought it was worth repeating!
(Have gun, will travel, reads the future of Californians heading out.)
That would be covered the “conversion kit” prohibition.
It doesn’t matter what you believe the words mean today.
There’s a “Tree” in Kalifornia, which sorely needs a deep “Refreshing”. And real damned soon.
Gun control is kinda like trying to solve drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to own cars.
No. It would still be a fixed mag Hi cap.
YOU ARE WRONG! They will not have semi-auto’s they will have fully automatic firearms.
So, tube magazines are still good?
They should be, as defined by the original fixed mag law.
What is a “bullet button?”
Obama and the dems will furnish them for free to the victim class.
I think of myself as relatively gun-savvy, but I don't know what they're getting at with the bullet button thing. Can someone explain?
One thing has rather amazed me about Texas, there is ono open carry allowed for Texans.
The mag release on Ca legal Hi caps has been removed so that you cant just drop a mag out with your finger and slap on another mag.
Smart manufacturers replaced it with a recessed release that could be actuated with the tip of a bullet so that you could still remove the mag for cleaning and be within the letter of the law.
It has been like that in Tx since the constitution was written.
When they outlawed “assault” (cf their definition) rifles, one of the criteria happened to be an external/quick mag release. So, californians devised a “button” that requires using something with a sharp tip to release the mag. Something like a pointed bullet. Hence, the “bullet” button.
The Communists in the Kalifornia Senate have been busy lately.

Don’t bring any of this Nanny State business to Tx!
The coalition that is busily conquering Western Civilization without resistance is terrified that Euro American Christians own guns. The coalition cannot fully commence the total wealth transfer, reaping of the little boys, rape the women, burn the churches(the sack!) until any chance of effective resistance is removed. After all there may be a few Euro Americans left who are spiritually able to fight.
That is for side arms.
Ha, not only in KA, but forgedabotit.
I doubt if there is anything left the government could do which would arouse Americans enough to take action of that sort.
In short, we may talk & talk, talk & talk, but get wet between the legs in fear of the governement.
Too late. Those left coast faggots have already destroyed Austin. And Tulsa. Denver. Nashville. How I hate the typical kalifornian.
I know fully automatic weapons cannot be possessed; What else?
I came to Tx from Kollyvornia, but left all that restrictive nonsense behind.
Heck, when I lived there the place(SD) was conservative, and you could buy an AK for cash with no forms anywhere.
When I lived there Class III was perfectly legal.
Everyone should go to the website and read the comments. It will give you hope.
Yep. I couldn't get that state in my rear view mirror fast enough last year. Damn shame too. San Diego is a beautiful place.
I have the same issue, as I still live in the People's Democratic Socialist Republic of Illinois.
