Obama and Romney: Character Shows
The American Thinker ^ | 7-9-12 | Karin McQuillan

Posted on 07/09/2012 6:19:23 AM PDT by afraidfortherepublic

Character is consistent. Voters say moral character is one of the most important things they look for in choosing the president. The character of a public figure can be hard to discern amidst a fog of self-advertising, hype, and the distorting effects of TV.

~snip~

An unusual personal story gives us insight into Mitt Romney. It is 1996. Mitt Romney is the head of Bain Capital in Boston. One of his employees comes to him, utterly distraught. His 14-year-old daughter snuck out of the house to go to a rave in New York and has been missing for three days. One of her teen friends said he gave her ecstasy and that he last saw her partying under a bridge.

Did Romney offer sympathy and hope? Write a check for a private detective? Wait for the government to solve it? No -- he took responsibility. He took action. He shut down the firm and brought all the employees to New York. For 48 hours, they scoured the streets, going everywhere, asking teenagers if they'd seen the missing girl. Romney called on business associates to send more people to help until they numbered 200. He printed 300,000 fliers and got Duane Reade, one of Bain's success stories, to put fliers in every shopper's bag in their 52 stores. Romney set up a hotline. A broken-off phone call was traced; the girl was discovered in the basement of a house in New Jersey and reunited with her family.

~snip~

Romney shows the missing girl's photo to a teenage girl on the street. She says to him, "No, I haven't seen her, but you're not the first person who came up and asked if I'd seen her. I wish my parents cared enough about me, to do something like this for me."

Please do not associate Tennessee Nana's bizarre fixation on mormonism with Catholics.

I have no idea what faith (if any) she professes, but I'm fairly certain she's not Catholic.

Romney is an entirely different sort of man.
_________________________________________

Yes TOO different for me to desire him as my president...

Hes a liberal, as different from a Conservative as night is from day..

This is suppose to have happened in 1996

In 1994 Willard was promising in his US Senate campaign to not overturn Roe V Wade the abortion law which led to the slaughter of millions of little girls, Mormon and Catholic...

Yes “his impulse is to help and to rescue”

He wanted to “help and to rescue” women to murder their unborn daughters (and sons)

Wheres your thread on that “nice story”

For “our country’s bright future” Willie mitty wanted women to have to right to abort their babies...

Even underage girls...

In 2002 when he was running for MASS Gov, Willie said that if parents refused to give permission for under age girls to murder their unborn then those girls were to get a judge to over rule the parental rights...

So much for your “stable, loving family”...”circles upon circles of warm, committed relationships — family, church, community, work, public” ...

Willie was anxious for the STATE to be the parents...

But drag out any old trumped up story in desparation...

Maybe you’ll find one about the soup kitchen Willie sponsors in downtown anywhere...

Gosh there has to be a hospital he built somewheres..

and of course theres that ongoing missing childrens agency that he founded and frequently gives his time and money to...

Gosh all the hours he spent in New Hampshire combing the lake and beating the bushes for some lost frightened child...

Why he even had all his boys and their children out “to help and to rescue”

Trust Willie with my country ???

Ask Seamus if hes even trustworthy with a dog...

That means that it sounded extremely mean-spirited of you to suggest that he only looked for the lost child because she was from a Mormon family -- that if she had been from another religion that he wouldn't have bothered. Isn't that what you meant?

Although Romney was not my first choice among the potential candidates, he's the only one we have left at this time. FOUR of my forebears, from both sides of my family, (count them) carried the name Benjamin Franklin, so I have always had a soft spot for ol' Ben's wisdom:

We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately

Romney was and still is a corporate raider. He got rich on other’s misery.

Obama is evil, but he didn’t personally profit from other’s misery.

If you continue to believe Romney is the only one with a chance to beat Bams, YOU are the one who will be responsible for seeing Baraak getting sworn in for his second term.

As bad as Obama is and has been, you can not find one American whose job he eliminated AND personally profited from the firing

Personally profited? How about personally profiting from the millions who've lost their jobs because of Obama's intentionally nefarious taxing and regulatory policies? Where the "personal profit" factor comes in is the culture of dependency he's grown since coming to power in '09. Creating a mass addiction for government freebies and entitlements pays off handsomely for a liberal politician seeking reelection.

This story is repeated so often because it’s about the only one that show Mitt as a caring person.

We have yet to see that pic of Willard from 2008

With his Mom jeans neated pressed, wrong shoes, shirt buttoned down no wrinkles, no sweat, hair carefully combed...

Staged to the max...

the one where hes holding a chain saw against a log ...

the saw is not on nor is it in the position to be tuned on...the safety is on or something someone noticed..

He is supposed to be “helping” some poor person in the p0rojects but it turned out it was the front yard of some Mormon bishop or other in a nice neighborhood...

That one got exposed as phony in 2008 along with this story of the missing girl who wasnt...

Well, I didn’t mean to suggest that she’s Catholic. I picked “Catholic” because it is the first thing that came to mind, probably because I’m Catholic. I just thought her comment was breathtakingly crass. I mistakenly thought that I could shock her into recognizing how mean and narrow-minded her remark seemed. It didn’t work.

I could have said Presbyterian, Lutheran, Baptist, or Pentacostal, or Jewish, or atheist, or Muslim. The girl was the daughter of an employee. I don’t think her religion played a part in his thinking. And what if it did? This whole conversation reminds me of the Elizabeth Smart threads where (supposedly intelligent) FReepers accused her father of all kinds of unspeakable sins and crimes when she was missing.

I think I’ll start keeping a list because I’ll know whom to blame when this country is lost to the Socialists and Marxists after Obumbum is re-elected because all of the Mitt-haters stayed home.

No need to make a new list. Altura already posted one over at the TrueBlueLosers website.

That doesn't count toward "killing FR", Altura?

Holy cow. Did some Freepers drink the Obama Koolaid over the 4th Holiday?

Romney wasn’t my first, second, or even third choice, but comparing obama favorably to Mitt? Really?

ANYONE is head and shoulders better then Obama.

ANYONE.

WTH is wrong with some of you?

Thanks, altura. I’m making a list and checking it twice, just like Santa, of the screen names of all the people whose hatred of Romney is clouding their vision. Obviously, YOU are not on that list. For that I am ever grateful.

And for that matter, how many lost children have YOU whiners searched for?

Don’t people usually help an acquaintance over a stranger?

Disagreeing with his policies is one thing, but this is uncalled for. As a parent, I cannot image the panic that family felt and if it were me, would want everyone I know plus everyone they know out looking.

Stick with your hero then…doesn’t he think children are a punishment? No need to worry about looking for a lost morman or any other child in his world.

"I wish my parents cared enough about me, to do something like this for me."

How sad is this?

This is incredibly sad if true.

However, I think there are plenty of street urchins who say this, and even think this, while their families have done everything they knew to try to help them.

What do you intend to DO with this list? No need for you to make a list. Altura has already posted a hit list at TrueBlueLosers.com.

Romney-hatred has caused some FReepers to embrace every single tenet, every single talking point, every single catch phrase of leftism.

That is a nice story. Very few people on this forum need to be convinced that Romney is clearly superior to Obama. However these stories of Romney having off shore bank accounts in Switzerland and the Cayman Islands are very troublesome. Already the Democrats are producing and airing attack ads. Unless Romney has a credible and prompt explanation his candidacy will be severely damaged. Many voters ,especially in critical swing states, will not vote for a millionaire who hid his assets to avoid taxes. The story has “legs”. Romney may be forced to withdraw and allow the Republican convention to select a candidate. The country may not survive four more years of the Obama clown parade.

You come across as a very insincere and dishonest person.

They are ardent Mormon haters. I’m no fan of Romney’s record, but if Romney were Reagan they would still hate him for his Mormonism above all else. Just watch how easy it is to set them off:

When Philip testified to his friend Nathanael about Jesus Christ, Nathanael replied, “Can any good thing come from Nazareth?” Similarly, no matter what Mitt or any other Mormon might do, these haters would reply, “Can any good thing come from a Mormon?”

Go ahead a zot me. Please, I deserve it.
