Severin: Either Romney pulls out the knife or he loses
WTTK-FM | 7/10/12

Posted on 07/10/2012 3:06:35 PM PDT by pabianice

Jay Severin -- one of Romney's biggest supporters and a professional campaign manager -- spoke about the state of the presidential campaign. After first acknowledging that Independents do not like negative ads, he stated that unless Romney starts fighting as hard against Obama as Obama is against him, Romney loses. It's that clear to so many people on the right. Why Romney is being Mr. Rogers is open to debate. Romney is of the 50s and 60s generation, when the idea of an Obama in public office would have been regarded as either a stupid joke or alternate universe science fiction. Romney diesmbowled his Republican opponents but now apparently is being told by his team that he has to stay Mr. Nice "so as not to alienate voters."

I think Severin is correct. This election will mean either the death of the United States or its comeback.

Romney needs to hit back using humor. Needle Obama about his incompetence, his secrecy, etc. Romney’s surrogates need to get out there & fill-in the blanks for the Media. Take no prisoners. Put Obama’s people on the defensive.

I didn't like the "debates" after the 35th one (sarcasm), I didn't like Santorum or Newt dropping out, I didn't like getting Romney, and I don't like this waiting game .... but the VEEP has not been announced, it is still early, and this question is just more push from whomever that wants everything already settled so we can get down into revolution or socialism.

It's hot, it's summer, people are impatient and America is in trouble.

I get it.

I'm doing MY best to have a cool head and trying to be politically mature.

Both Romney and ozero are saying the same things they've been saying for a year.

He needs to pull out a gun and send ten of Obama’s guys to the morgue.

I get requests for money from Romney every week. I won’t send a time unless, and until, he pulls out the knife. He needs to slam Obama into oblivion before I will cough up financial support. And it needs to make me feel good and shake my fist and say YES!

Demanding Obama release all of his records will be a start Mr. Romney. DO IT, MEAN IT, and VIGOROUSLY PURSUE IT!

I am not holding my breath.

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!

They are all terrified of being labeled "racist." Romney is acting almost exactly as McCain did when faced by the Obama attack machine.

You can't win solely taking the High Road. I hate that. I wish it were not so, but that's the truth. Attack ads are hated by all, but are effective--people instinctively and subconsciously react to the message contained. It is an extension of "The Big Lie." Hammer it long enough and loud enough and the lie becomes "truth."

Severin is right; Romney needs to bring out those long knives he was so willing to use to destroy his primary opponents.

Romney needs to hit back using humor.

There are people in this world who cannot do "humor". They have no sense of timing and no actual sense of humor whatsoever.

Romney fits that category. It is my observation that Romney cannot relate to the average Joe. First of all, he doesn't drink beer. He doesn't drink coffee. He doesn't drink Tea. He doesn't even drink Cokes. He dutifully wears Magic underwear 24 hours a day and thinks someday he will "high to Kolob" and become a God.

He is in every sense of the word an alien in the midst of the human race.

He is awkward around regular human beings and clearly cannot relate to anyone who is not in his peculiar social class or a member in good standing of his peculiar religion.

You expect him to be able to communicate his message (whatever the hell that is) with any semblance of human emotion and humor?

Romney the Candidate from the Planet Kolob.

It is racism to patronize a black candidate. You want to get out of the racist mode you have to attack him like he was a white Conservative!

I don't think Romney can do that.

All of which is in contrast - to the Dem nominee.

:)

Just saying.

The real question is if and when he is going to rip off the veil of secrecy that has protected Obama since before the 2008 election. I believe the Democrats may have made a major strategic error in assuming he won’t.

All the questions regarding eligibility are still there. We haven’t seen Obama’s transcripts, his college writings, or even an actual birth certificate.

The thing is, the E-bomb can only be dropped once, and if it doesn’t knock Obama out totally in the first strike, it will destroy Mitt.

However, using it could also precipitate a civil war.

This psychobabble about Romney being Mr. Nice is idiotic to say the least. We are watching a replay of the same strategy used in the primaries when he bid his time while his opponents wasted their ammunition and then unleashed lethal targeted attacks that destroyed one flavor of the month after the other.

The bottom line is that it’s too early. Obama is burning through his cash while nobody is paying attention. There’s a recent Ras poll that says that half of the electorate doesn’t even know about the SCOTUS decision on Obamacare. Romney is better off going to Israel as planned to beef up his foreign policy credentials.

All of which is in contrast - to the Dem nominee.

At this point neither Obama or Romney has obtained the official nomination of their parites.

That being said, it would appear from your perspective that your choice is a baby murdering, homosexualist, gun-grabbing, liberal judge appointing, commie health care pushing, big government leftist from Kenya or a a baby murdering, homosexualist, gun-grabbing, liberal judge appointing, commie health care pushing, big government leftist from the Planet Kolob.

Which will it be?

First, it's outright comical hearing these Romney supporters suddenly now want him to be Sarah Palin. It won't happen. That's not how Romney works.

my assessment of Romney---and perhaps the ONLY redeeming factor he has---is that I think he is both ruthless and sneaky. And that's good. He will let surrogates attack Obama, while (wisely, I think) Romney avoids Newt-like specific "plans" and "programs" and sticks to broader themes of "new beginnings" and the like.

More important, Romney has to only stay even for 2 months, then when there is really not enough time for the media to mount a defense. Just keep up a steady pace, like Secretariat, until the final turn. Then pour it on!

At least that would my advice if I were advising him.

Mitt doesn’t need to draw blood. Zero is doing the blood letting himself.

Stick to the facts, obummer care, worst economy of our lifetime. Worst unemployment since the great depressiweon

Just hammer the dialog day after day, week after week. Facts, facts, and more facts!

We need focused simple and calm dialog explaining the facts and failures, pound the facts and leave dirty deeds to the left that invented those tactics.

Kill the independents with kindness.

I am still not convinced that Romney wants to become POTUS.

He reminds me too much of McClown who handed Obama the presidency.

When I think of Romney and McCain I see a big wooden horse filled with democrap troops.
