A myth that President Obama is giving people money to pay their bills has prompted thousands of people across the country to try to pay for utilities, phone service and loans using bogus bank routing numbers.
United Way of Cleveland's 2-1-1 changed its answering machine Monday to say rumors of the Obama program were false after fielding dozens of calls.
Later that day, a United Way employee was on an RTA bus when a rider stood up and announced to fellow passengers that Obama was paying people's bills. The rider told people they could use the red numbers on the backs of their Social Security cards to tap into the government money. Steve Wertheim of United Way said the woman claimed she had successfully paid her electric bill using the technique.
Such unprompted testimonials are spreading the hoax through entire communities, putting consumers, at minimum, at risk of late payment penalties and service disruptions.
In some iterations, the bogus "Obama program" appears to be an identity theft scam. According to news reports, uniformed con men with clipboards went door to door in a handful of states, signing people up by collecting Social Security numbers and then giving them phony bank routing numbers to use to pay their bills.
But here, it seems less scam than hoax.
People aren't asking for anyone's Social Security numbers. They're passing along bogus routing numbers, apparently in the belief they're real.

Instead, these parasites are calling aunt natshaiachkha, their fence for food stamps and their drug dealer...or maybe allowing them to offset a phone bill and get more Colt 45. I guess the idea of working hard for what you get is so passe’.

There already is such a law. It’s for people with disabilities, and can be used ONLY for 911. The problem is just try to find a store that knows about it, and whose clerks know how to set it up. I know! I’ve tried. It’s the law, but nobody admits it.

All “dead” cell phones must, by law, send 911 calls, and the carriers must complete the call.
I wonder if these folks will still vote for Obama after they discover that he did not pay for their utilities after all and that they are now deliquent on their payments because he failed to provide.

One of my favorite shows. I just wish they'd scale back the "Seth hates Ashley, Ashley hates Seth" rhetoric. No brother and sister could hate each other so much and continue to work in the same place day after day. One would eventually kill the other one.
Plus, I haven't seen a new episode in a long time, the reruns are monotonous.

I find it absolutely amazing how often people come in with some obvious piece of cr@p and expect the shop to be willing to loan $100.00 on it just because they "need" the money.
Personally, I could not run a shop like that because I would probably end up shooting 2-3 people a week.
I guess I’ll try a few episodes of Hardcore Pawn, but I get too depressed watching the repo shows. Idiots think that they own a car just because they picked it out and put down a few hundred on it. They don’t realize that without these brave repo guys looking out for the interests of loan companies, only rich people could afford cars without financing the purchase.
Two guesses as to the race of the suckers in this Obama-related hoax.
They have a good show without all that rudeness between siblings, there is no need in acting like their customers. People I know are already complaining about that as well.
People really need to watch this show to see the REAL OBAMA VOTERS in all their glory. This show is full of his organized supporters and we wonder what has happened to America? Wonder no longer, when you hear those women talking "TRASH" non stop when trying to make a deal with worthless "Bling".
I am surprised that the NAACP does not come down on this TRUE LIFE display of their people, not the shows fault, the blacks should be so ashamed, but they are not. They seem to think the American Normal is to behave like animals, finger signs, pants on the ground, bare butt wiggling, cursing non stop F words, "yo gonna gives me my Fing money I ain't Fing leaving till I gets some Fing money, don't you Fing tuch me"
Sure should make any Black proud, but it's their own creation. Oh well. Gives us a laugh of disgust, and a prayer of "There but for the Grace of God, go I".
