Women in the infantry? Forget about it, says female Marine officer
MSNBC ^ | July 12, 2012 | Jeff Black

Come September, a small group of young female Marines will break through one of the last bastions of macho in the U.S. military. They’ll be the first class of female officers to take part in the grueling Infantry Officer Course in Quantico, Va., a test of both physical fitness and mental will that prepares the corps’ future platoon leaders.

All of these women will be volunteers, and their training will be closely watched. The new coed class has sparked suggestions that such training could lead to integrating women in the Marine infantry, with some saying they “would make excellent grunts.”

Women are the new men.

Females are the new males.

Real women, and real men, haven't changed a bit, and are ignored.

When I was younger I followed along beside my husband on hunts. We hunted, deer, elk, moose and bear. We climbed hills, mountains and walked across deserts. If he could make it across, I could too.

Do I think that women should be in combat? No, I don't.

Done deal, here’s why: No matter how far short these women fall of the standard that standard will be changed until the women are “up to specification”. This lie will then be voiced, supported and saluted by every single Marine who in any way encounters it, or that marine will be booted.

Remember Jessica Lynch?

Here is something I hung on to and don't remember the source:

The U.S. Army awarded her the Bronze Star for distinguishing herself by heroic or meritorious achievement or service conisting of this:

That's heroic or meritorious achievement or service?

To me this smacks of what is going wrong in our country. Dumbing down everything: Heroes, education, etc.. When the Lynch issue came out, I felt this was nothing but trying to make Lynch a Joan (John) Wayne-type. Sure enough!

The truth came out. A Marine combat veteran in Iraq put it this way:

If Lynch deserves a Bronze Star (which she doesn't), then they (those engaged in daily combat) deserve a Medal of Honor. Lynch got a Bronze Star as a publicity stunt for the Army. She got it because she is a woman. It's just that simple. If she had been a man, no one would've cared. It is sad to see that in today's world of equality, in the 21st Century, such a thing would happen. Lynch is nothing but a publicity doll for the Army and an embarrassment to the United States military and the true heroes of our nation.

Other input:

She will now become the icon, the symbol of everything the radical feminists desire in completely 'feminizing' the U.S. military. They have their woman-in-combat heroine who will pave the way for some woman, sometime, to become the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff - or maybe even the Commander in Chief. All for personal gain. All for the exercise of matriarchal political power in America. And all contributing to the reality of the deterioration of combat effectiveness, the loss of the 'warrior ethos' in our armed forces and, most importantly, a degradation of America's ability to defend itself when faced with an opponent other than a Third-World country.

First and foremost, they should let them go through basic training together, no accommodations. Or at least let the females go through “The Crucible” together with the men on an equal basis.

You sir are correct.

I used to tell my newbies that anyone can shoot a rifle or a machinegun, even drop a mortar. But can they hump that same M-2 or mortar, the ammo and the tripod or base up the 10 or 12 mile mountain trail at a quick march, use a pickax and e-tool to dig in a fortified position when the stop, and pull guard duty that night without falling asleep from exhaustion. All while humping their 60 lb turn out load, their body armor, water, beans and bullets. The average full ruck out was 120 lbs when I was in but we were mech infantry and had to carry more crap that most light units.

I had a Ranger come to my unit and complained that we carried more junk than anything he has ever seen. That was until we went to a gunnery exercise. After he saw a platoon sustain fire exercise he kept saying that he had never seen so much lead going down range at once.

Many newbies out of Infantry basic would struggle but make it past the fist day. And they had been training for 16 weeks. Some would even make it through day two and three of doing the exact same thing. Very rare was the soldier that can do that all week.

Few who have never done the work have even the slightest understanding of the whole body endurance and mental toughness that is required for the Infantry.

If you lower the standards enough those women will fit right in!

But once the men start dying because of that lowered standard it’ll be will be interesting to see if the men will take the blame or if they’ll quietly return to the previous standards.

Libtards actually believe the hollywood propaganda movies where the waif woman takes out multiple several hundred-pound guys with one kick or hand punch and project this falsehood into real life. Without any of them hardly landing a punch or blow on her at all.

Of course THEY aren’t the ones that are in the service that would find out how blatantly incorrect they are in direct physical combat.

Not in combat, period. I agree.

And to be fair I am a guy who always says “Never underestimate a woman as a threat.” Also the “not in combat” comment does not mean I don’t think they can’t deend themselves from criminals, or bad boyfriends, or whatever. Many are capable of learning to shoot well enough for defense, some very well, but military combat is not the same as civilian self-defense of self, or family.

It’s also fair to point out many men are not up to the standards necessary to do all that is needed to do in combat situations. But we’ve not watered down the standards of what’s been required because a certain percentage of guys can’t qualify. They only start bitching and moaning when people OTHER than guys, usually white guys, have large percentages of whatever their pet group is, who can’t pass the qualifications that exist based on what’s needed to get the jobs done.

The Corps has long-since passed the tipping point...A decade or so of co-ed basic training and, this past year, a woman commandant of PI...

In addition, the gays proudly fit in just fine these days. The fox hole has become an entirely new experience...
