Reid:Taxes must be raised to avoid cuts
The Columbia Daily Tribune. ^ | July 13, 2012 | AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate's Democratic leader insisted yesterday that if House Republicans desperately want to avert automatic cuts to the military, they have to compromise and make tax increases part of any solution.

In a biting letter to the GOP members of the House Armed Services Committee, Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said he would like to come up with an alternative "sooner rather than later" to the $1.2 trillion across-the-board cuts in domestic and military programs that kick in Jan. 2. But Reid argued that it will only happen if the GOP relents on closing tax loopholes to raise revenue.

"Given your concern about sequestration, I would encourage you to focus your energy on convincing Republicans that forging a balanced compromise that protects the middle class is more important than adhering to the Tea Party's rigid, extreme ideology," Reid wrote.

Let the cuts go through. Let the democrats own it, see how many military vote for them this November. Reid just thinks he can play chicken and win no matter what.

No, cuts must be made to avoid raising taxes.

Do what I say or watch us destroy the Military.

What a PATRIOT this old turd is.

They should hang the old POS as a Traitor.

Blackmailing America is his game and the Republicans allowed him to get in a position to do it.

Thanks a lot Mitch and John Boehner.

I have just one question for these esteemed members of Congress; At what point will you be satisfied with percent of taxes collected from Taxpayers?

As far as I can tell they will never, ever be satisfied.

So the next question is when will the American Taxpayer be so dissatisfied with the percentage of taxes that they are required to pay out of the yearly income that they will revolt again? We didn’t like taxation without representation, and taxation with representation seems to be even worse. What next?

By now everyone affected by these tax increases on the ‘rich’ should have their ducks in a row.

Judge Learned Hand

“Anyone may arrange his affairs so that his taxes shall be as low as
possible; he is not bound to choose that pattern which best pays the
treasury. There is not even a patriotic duty to increase one’s taxes.
Over and over again the Courts have said that there is nothing sinister
in so arranging affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everyone
does it, rich and phioor alike and all do right, for nobody owes any
public duty to pay more than the law demands.”

It won’t take very long for the government to realize that history will repeat.
It should be known that at the beginning of a dynasty, taxation yields a large revenue from small assessments. At the end of the dynasty, taxation yields a small revenue from large assessments.

Go ahead with cuts. It will be good for the public sector to bring it down to ‘just fine’ like the private sector.

Yo, Hairy-butt Reid! Remember these words?

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

You said them out loud. Resign, you liar.

That is part of the equation, but we need to start re-framing the argument.

One of the essential functions of government is to protect and defend the people.

I take Reid's remarks a direct threat on my well-being as a citizen. Threats to cut military spending, before cutting all other non-essential services is treason.

HOME SALES TAX — Effective of 3.8% in January 1, 2013

Read this and weep about selling a home.

When does your home become part of your health care? After 2012!

Your vote counts big time in 2012. Make sure you and all your friends and family know about this! HOME SALES TAX!!

I thought you might find this interesting, — maybe even SICKENING!

The National Association of Realtors is all over this and working to get it repealed, — before it takes effect. But, I am very pleased we aren’t the only ones who know about this ploy to steal billions of dollars from unsuspecting homeowners. How many realtors do you think will vote Democratic in 2012?

Did you know that if you sell your house after 2012, you will pay a 3.8% sales tax on it? That’s $3,800 on a $100,000 home, etc. When did this happen?

It’s in the Health Care Bill — and it goes into effect in 2013. Why 2013? Could it be so that it doesn’t come to light until after the 2012 elections? So, this is ‘change you can believe in’?

Under the new Health Care Bill all real estate transactions will be subject to a 3.8% sales tax. If you sell a $400,000 home, there will be a $15,200 tax. This bill is set to screw the retiring generation — who often downsize their homes.

Does this make your November, 2012, vote more important? Oh, you weren’t aware that this was in the ObamaCare bill? Guess what; you aren’t alone! There are more than a few members of Congress who weren’t aware of it either.

You can check this out for yourself at: http://www.gop.gov/blog/10/04/08/obamacare-flatlines-obamacare-taxes-home

What is it about blue state pols and Dem libs? They apparently do not understand that Americans overall want not only tax cuts, but regs cut and spending cuts which means that some programs, yes, will be cut. Every blue state urban area is broke and none of those states have a balanced budget. Note that a poll showed 17 or more Red States with a solid budget. If voters cannot understand this, we deserve 4 more years of communism.
