Rove, Romney and the GOP-e set out to destroy the tea party, and they are succeeding

Rove, Romney and the GOP-e loathe pro-life Reagan conservatism, loathe the small government tea party and set out to destroy them both. I hate to admit it, but they are succeeding.

As I see staunch pro-life conservatives and tea party patriots folding their small government tents in favor of Romney's GOP-e progressive, big government big tent, I can't help but see not only the end of the tea party, but the end of pro-life, pro-liberty conservatism within the Republican party. And if we cannot quickly recover, the end of liberty in America. America's great experiment in self-government by believers in life and liberty destroyed, not by the liberal progressive statists of the Democrat party, but by the liberal progressive statists of the Republican party. Where the statist Democrats have failed, the statist GOP-e will have succeeded.

There is absolutely no doubt that Romney's pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-socialist healthcare, statist big government record is identical to Obama's. Once upon a time in the not so distant past, conservatives automatically shunned big government statists. The GOP-e and the malignant genius, Karl Rove, figured out how to outflank us and turn the GOP totally against Reagan conservatism and against pro-Life, pro-family, pro-small government conservatives. It's an engineered coup d'etat against traditional small government conservatism and it is deadly.

THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated. Britain, with an army to enforce her tyranny, has declared that she has a right (not only to TAX) but "to BIND us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER" and if being bound in that manner, is not slavery, then is there not such a thing as slavery upon earth. Even the expression is impious; for so unlimited a power can belong only to God.

The fear of Obama has turned many among us into squishes who will set the pro-life conservative movement back forty years or more by surrendering to the abortionist/homosexualist, statist progressive, big government, corrupt crony capitalist agenda within the GOP.

We should not fear Obama to the point we elect an overstepping statist just like him, we should be determined to impeach his usurping treasonous ass! We should shun the Gop-e, shun Karl Rove, shun Romney, shun all of the big government, big tent, RINOS who have taken over the GOP. Rather than surrendering to the big government forces, we should be working full-time to elect pro-life, pro-small government conservatives into the majority of elective offices throughout this great land. If ever there was a time for pro-life conservatives and tea party patriots to stand their ground, it is NOW!! SURRENDER TO STATISM? NUTS!!

With conservative majorities in the legislative branches of the federal government and in the majority of all state and local governments, we can impeach and remove or expel the traitors amongst us from their executive posts, their high benches or their legislative seats and reclaim our Liberty!!

I am shocked by the number of supposedly pro-life conservatives who would promote these abortionist/homosexualist statists and dismayed that so many tea party patriots would fold their tents. Romney is the natural biological father of the big government unconstitutional statist RomneyCare/ObamaCare program that was the spark that ignited the tea party. And now the tea party sadly seems to be on the brink of surrendering to him before the fight has even begun.

Not me. I stand firm for Life and Liberty!! No Obama!! No Romney!! NOT ON MY WATCH!!

There’s only one alternative: Vote straight conservative. Now and forever. You can bet if the brave hearts among us are too afraid to vote conservative, then not a one will pick up a musket when the time comes.

The tea party was about defending economic freedom, aka, the pursuit of happiness. Without life, there can be no liberty, no pursuit of happiness. Our unalienable rights come from God. You know, our unalienable rights endowed upon us by our Creator, including the rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. The God who gave us life gave us liberty and economic freedom. They are inseparable. If you don’t defend the entire package, you’re destined to failure. Mitt Romney fails to defend on all accounts.

You have served our beloved country with honor and distinction in the United States Navy. Then you were a pioneer in the realm of computing, blazing a trail that ultimately led to the America's exclusive forum for genuine Conservative activism and moral absolutes. Your past record is unblemished and praiseworthy, to say the least.

With those impressive and considerable accomplishments, many would rest on their laurels. You're different and better than those lesser men. I have long learned from your essays over the years (since a friend at church first made me aware of Free Republic on the first Sunday after 9/11).

But this essay may well be your finest hour. Your clear, concise and unapologetic stance on true Constitutional Conservatism is a clarion call for American patriots. Beside being great writing, it's an inspirational wake-up call for those of us who cherish liberty and freedom. Thank the Lord for a steadfast, Christian man like Jim Robinson and for this pro-God, pro-gun, pro-life meeting place: FREE REPUBLIC. May God continue to richly bless you, John and the rest of your family.

It's only "whoring," technically, if they're actually receiving something of genuine value for the wholesale abandonment of their conservative principles (such as they are).

It's far, far worse than simple whoring. They're actually GIVING it away -- voluntarily, and with absolutely nothing to show for it.

Can’t digest the rampant conservative pacifism that kicked in when we got kicked out of the DC run (R) primaries. What a charade it all was.

I am livid that so called conservatives are going to reward all this socialist mischief in our own party.

Better to know now who sits and who stands. One old hand where I was raised said, speaking about round up, that having one “fool” on the ride with no instincts is like losing three good men. LOL!

That book title I mentioned, btw, is THE NEW LEVIATHAN, by David Horowitz. Shocking research on the money behind communist front organizations in the US. We should heed the warning. If we don’t soon stand up and roar, I think some things can not be stopped, sooner than we dare to believe.

Any where is the newbie rule, I've looked for it, but can't find it anywhere (typical newbie - can't find stuff). I thought we were all equal here - we all had a right to voice an opinion.

Many of your points are well taken but do not consider the fact of a two party system. In America, unlike Israel and many other nations, we govern with a coalition of many disparate groups with enough in common to elect a President. The big tent you reference is a coalition of coalitions.

One of the lessons to be learned from the recent primary attempt to find the candidate preferable to the most of those disparate groups is that the conservatism you describe doesn’t exist. There is no actual monolithic conservative force. Apparently it is the nature of conservatives to be unable to agree on enough of the basic issues you describe to be able to exert the influence required to prevail. That fact is nowhere better illustrated than right here. It is not an exaggeration to say that blood was spilled here on Free Republic in the primary battles of words and slogans.

Regarding the Tea Party, that too seems not to be monolithic in that several groups took the name and acted but not in total concert. I’m sure you recall the awesome gathering of Tea Partiers in DC. That may have been the high water mark. It was a very impressive display of the conservative desire to stop the progressive scourge. That it even happened is evidence of a conservative force that had not previously been so publicly displayed. The effects can not be measured precisely but we know the next congress benefited.

Then there is the fact that politics is the art of what is possible. While the desire is to promote and develop conservatism in it’s purist form, the reality is that for many, probably most, identity is neither with the conservatives or the GOP-e. The strong desire is to identify with the winner.

That results in sort of a middle course, moderation. To be moderate is easy. To be at either of the extremes requires thought and consideration. From my attendance of Tea Party events, I suspect that many were swayed from their comfortable position by the very admirable actions and words of the the purer conservatives.

Lastly, the ongoing process is a war, a war with liberalism. The loss of one battle is not the loss of the war. It is certainly not the end of the war. The cycle for the dying North East Republicans is now up, but the trend is against them. Their population is dwindling and their real power is ebbing.

I would urge that building a larger and stronger coalition within the Tea Party movement is still the best course. The war will never be won by fighting battles outside the tent

yes, Romney is a mild “leftist BUT Obama is an outright COMMUNIST. You need to “retreat” in this battle in order to be able to eventually win the war. If the communists take over the Constitution is dead.
