Ron Paul’s delegate insurgency has come to an end...
...fell short at the Nebraska GOP convention, where they had hoped to out-organize Mitt Romney’s delegates and push Paul over a critical threshold that would have ensured him an official presence and speaking slot at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., in August.
As the last state where Republicans will hold a convention in which delegates are up for grabs, Nebraska represented the last chance for Paul’s supporters.
Instead, Nebraska Republicans elected a slate of Mitt Romney delegates to represent the state in Tampa. Paul’s supporters won only two of Nebraska’s 35 national delegates, according to Laura Ebke, who leads the Nebraska chapter of the Republican Liberty Caucus and who has led Paul supporters’ effort to win delegates in the state.
Along with delegates from Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, and Minnesota, Nebraska could have given Paul the support of a plurality of delegates in five states; according to Republican National Committee rules, Paul would have been officially eligible as a candidate for the nomination at the Tampa convention. Organizers would be required to grant Paul’s faction up to 15 minutes for a nominating speech...
Now, Paul is guaranteed nothing in Tampa, and will depend on the graces of Romney and convention organizers to include him in the proceedings in late August...
saw his supporters out-organize mainstream Republicans and longtime local party participants at caucuses and conventions in a few states, sometimes leading to heated exchanges and physical confrontations with security or police.
Throughout the primary and caucus season, Paul supporters used technical knowledge of GOP procedures, posing parliamentary questions and attempting to wrest control of organized party meetings. On the whole, they were successful in some cases — but not enough to force their candidate into the GOP’s multi-day Tampa love-fest.

There is only one discernable difference between OWSers and libertarians.
Democrats claimed and embraced the OWSers.
Republicans repudiated the libertarians.
Now that is really stretching as well as being an oxymoron.

We conservatives have a lot of nerve throwing stones at the only primary organization left standing, with no debt, and with an actual ground game, and the math to challenge the convention and the delegates, both the known and the supposed stealth, to take it to the Establishment.
Paul is smart and has no use for the GOPE. I don’t either. What Ron was right on, he was severely RIGHT on. I admire his run very much.
We fine conservatives will blow bubbles for the RINOS right on que, cave when we’re suppose to, and deliver whoever they cram down our throats and then dare to squawk against the one guy in the race who won’t.

It’s so cute how you seem to think Republicans and Conservatism go hand in hand. What world are you living in? There is nothing even remotely conservative about Romney. I don’t support Paul, but I would have to admit he is the more conservative option. Come to think of it, I don’t particularly have anything against the libertarian ideology, I never particularly liked the government to be my nanny.
He needs to do everything he can to hold on the the actual conservatives in the GOP.

Republicans and Conservatism actually do go hand in hand.
as do Democrats and Liberalism.
The communists, socialists, anarchists and assorted opportunists decided to infiltrate and “proclaim themselves Democrats”,and successfully changed the Democrat political party to what it is today. “Proud Progressives”.
Just as Libertarians, former Democrats, and various opportunists infiltrated and proclaimed themselves to be Republicans.
The difference is,some conservative Republicans still call these groups of individuals RINOs, and are still fighting to retain what remains of the Republican Party.
We lost a major battle, and Romney was elevated to the position of presumptive nominee. I'm not enthusiastic about that. But that is the real world situation.
Since history has been repeating itself, perhaps Romney will be no better or no worse than Reagan.
All that said hannibaal, it's my turn to ask you, what world do you live in?
