You're sorry.
That's all I want to hear from Penn State today. It's all I want to hear from Joe Paterno's family. It's all I want to hear from Graham Spanier, Tim Curley, Gary Schultz. From the Board of Trustees. From Penn State fans.
You're sorry.
Why can't you say that? Why haven't any of you said that?
The Freeh Report was released Thursday morning, released to much fanfare, though I haven't the foggiest idea why. There was nothing special in the Freeh Report. Nothing we didn't already know. Jerry Sandusky raped kids for years? We knew that -- he has been convicted.
Penn State officials chose not to stop it? We knew that -- Jerry Sandusky raped kids for years.
But what we don't know, what we're about to find out, is how Penn State responds.
[Snip]
Penn State officials, those now still in charge? Apologize for what was allowed to happen, at your great school. Jerry Sandusky is your legacy, and so is the coverup that kept him free for years, and we're tired of fighting you about it. It happened. You can't just change the subject like you're changing the channel on the TV at the student center when CNN broke the Freeh Report on Thursday morning. Don't tell us what's wrong with the Freeh Report. Tell us you're sorry.
[Snip]
Apologize to the world -- for God's sake, apologize to the victims -- for not stopping it when you could. And then apologize again for defending yourself so vigorously since November. That's just another layer that none of us can understand, your need to put your own welfare above everything else once this scandal went public.
[Snip]
What does the world want to hear? We want to hear that you're sorry.
You are sorry, aren't you?

Related and also worth of discussion:
In this litigious society, one would be ill advised to say "I'm sorry".
We also want to hear them say “I resign” and “I plead guilty, your honor”
exactly what i was thinking and exactly what should have been told to the writer before going to press with that.
Their whole football program should be completely shut down for what was allowed to go on there for years and years.
Costos on sun show said most likely they will shut it down for at least a year..if Penn State doesn’t, the NFL will.
Instead of trying to continue the equivocation and cover up they should be concentrating on how they are going to fairly disperse their endowment fund to compensate the victims.
As far as I’m concerned the school should be totally banned from college football for the foreseeable future and the football program at the college should be shut down in its entirety. The court should order them to salt the football field.
And as long as they still have employees or board members who were in a position of authority or responsibility and had the slightest connection with this heinous crime they should not even be allowed to apply for reinstatement of a football program.
PA Ping!
If you want on/off the PA Ping List, please freepmail me. Thanks!
The NFL?
Forget it, he's rolling.
Forget “I'm sorry”. Just ostracize this school and anyone who had anything to do with it, to the point that the school CLOSES.
How many people turned a blind eye? Probably everyone that worked there (rumors etc.).
“We here at Penn State apologize to anyone we have offended, now let's play ball!”
We here at Penn State apologize to anyone we have offended, now let’s play ball! (sarc)
Sorry, forgot the “sarc” tag.
It will be. The school is deader than a doornail. Once all the lawsuits come in, the school will be completely flattened financially, the state of Pennsylvania will struggle for years because of this.
Now, that being said, I will add, homosexuality is wrong and depraved and puts little boys at risk of being destroyed by perverts. Football millions do not trump the life of one single child. The coach and his agenda are chaff compared to the life of one single child. Any apologists, you are each and every one of you, jointly and severally worth less than one single child. It is written, I shall search for the wicked and they shall be gone. God will have his will done and the wicked shall not prosper. Just watch.

Pedd State football should be shutdown for good.
I thought the school wasn't a state run school.
This is the same school that hides Micheal Mann's fraud so it won't be a bad thing if Penn. state goes under
I guess it would be entirely within the perview of the NFL to declare Penn State program players ineligible to play in the for three or four years after graduation.
As a matter of fact, it might be a damned good PR move, in the mold of Micheal Vick’s suspension.

“exactly what i was thinking and exactly what should have been told to the writer before going to press with that.”
Please pardon my “French”, especially on a Sunday, but I say to H*!! with lawyers! The writer is most likely well aware that lawyers think they rule the roost. He is calling on Penn State to do the right thing, regardless.
Do the Right Thing for once!
(either one of you lawyers?)
We are a country that is in the process of accepting homosexual marriage and homosexual adoption. We know these children will be abused but we are too frightened to speak of it. This country is becoming Penn State.
One homosexual pedo and a handful of enablers did an incredible amount of damage. Why not stick to bringing the homo-pedo and enablers to justice instead of shutting down the football program when the players had no idea what was going on?
