Dodd, Back In Connecticut, Says Colorado Shootings Show Need For More Restrictions On Weapons

WINDSOR ——

In his first extensive public comments on the deadly Colorado movie theater shootings, former U.S. Sen. Christopher J. Dodd on Monday called for gun restrictions and questioned why Americans should be able to buy assault weapons.

Dodd, a Democrat who now serves as CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America, said the deaths of 12 moviegoers and the wounding of 58 more in the Denver suburb of Aurora is "a national tragedy'' caused by "a deranged individual.'' The shootings have revived calls for gun control by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and others.

"It happened there, but it could have happened anywhere, regretfully,'' Dodd said while attending an event in Windsor, where he was campaigning on behalf of Democrat Leo Canty, a longtime union activist who is running for the state legislature.

"How does someone order 6,000 rounds of ammunition?'' Dodd asked a small group of reporters. "Why are they selling these assault weapons? ...Explain to me why it is you're selling assault weapons to the general public. There's not a decent hunter I know who would hunt anything with an assault weapon.''

For what it’s worth, NJ governor Christie has stated that we have enough gun laws (in regards to the Colorado shootings).

Interestingly, waitress sandwich restrictions are not necessary according to this washed-up old fraud.

Maybe they shouldn’t have stopped teaching this in school, “Thou shalt not murder” and “Love your neighbor as your self”

Now we have three generations that don’t have any moral compass.

Like father, like son. Being a scumbag is family tradition for Dodd. His dad was a statist asshole who despised freedom, just like the son does.

You would think that one of the people most responsible for the housing crisis would simply take his booty and go quietly into the night.

We should expect this when ever we have a mass murder—save when its black on black crime—then it gets a pass—as it does in Chicago.

Will these IDIOTS never shut up?
Any weapon you use to ASSAULT people is an assault weapon.
No amount of laws this moron could have written would have stopped Holmes from killing dozens of human beings.

“Agent Brian Terry Shot in Back with AK-47 During Gunfight, Family Says”

Strange we didn't hear a peep out of Dodd (and the rest of the gang) after this headline.

...”Interestingly, waitress sandwich restrictions are not necessary according to this washed-up old fraud”...

I agree that he is a fraud and I just cannot see how any American who understands what he has done to aggrandize himself while hurting this country can stand him. Ice-T, the Rapper, has said that gun control is a terrible idea because the right to bear arms is the “last defense against tyranny.”. With the government we have today, that is true in spades. Those who want to destroy this foundation of freedom should be voted out and should be shunned by their fellow Americans, especially at the voting booth.

What does hunting have to do with the 2nd Amendment? You were a Senator for goodness sakes and you believe the 2nd Amendment is about hunting???? GO AWAY................

Something tells me if there were a copycat attempt (and I hope there is not) the end result would prove the anti-gun crowd wrong.

U.S. Sen. Christopher J. Dodd is a national tragedy and more so, since he has spent so much time in DC, and not a federal prison.

Here in the northeast we know more gun control does nothing; the areas with the tightest restrictions are those that most resemble Mogadishu in spite of them.
