But, his vote totals anywhere but VA will be very minimal. Being a former Democrat and now aligned with the Green Party, he will get a lot of Obama supporters from 2008.

Your tired act is so old. I can see you, taking a deep bow to your Hope & Change posters taped to your walls, delusions of grandeur - thinking you are the liberal behind enemy lines, in deep cover, disrupting conservatives, hoping to pick off a few slow witted ones who you can convince to abandon the Republicans to get you man Barack Hussein Obama elected. Let me clue you in; nobody is buying the crap you are peddling. Your man in going down and going down hard and we will take down all your socialist progressive slime in the Senate with him. Your deep cover is blown. We will never surrender to the likes of Obama. Try your crap on a less sophisticated crowd.

Judging by today's purity tests the founding fathers wouldn't have made it through a primary. Some of them owned people and made them work without pay, even separated families when they needed to sell. That's 100% taxation, something even Obama can only dream about imposing, not to mention their property didn't have free speech or rights but what men chose to give them, though slaves had free health care because their masters paid local doctors monthly for their services, and took care of their property cradle to grave, but this is hardly worthwhile compensation for the labor and loss of liberty. How could anyone vote for that?

And yet, somehow, with all their faults and differences with one another, they evolved and managed to do something very right and create a pretty decent country with a pretty decent if wrinkled Constitution.

I'm glad they weren't disqualified as unsuitable or we would not have a country at all in which to iron out our differences.

You are voting for a liberal because you are afraid of 4 more years of Obama right? Yes or no.

It takes a spine to stand for what one believes in rather than abandoning it for fear or political expedience right? yes or no?

I don’t much care if you can physically hand me my tail or not. That’s not the point. Nor do internet or in person threats ever sway me. Because at the end of the day, I’ll still have my integrity and you will have abandoned yours, backed by violence no less, to vote for a liberal.

And there’s no getting around that.

as always i urge all individuals vote your conscience and let the Lord do the rest. but it is perfectly rational to vote conservative from top to bottom in a blue state where romney has no chance, whatsoever. if conservatives do that in blue states, it will serve notice on both the r and d establishments that conservatives will have to be reckonned with in the future no matter what statist wins this election in november.

The President/Prime Minister of a recently liberated Eastern European country (can't recall which one) once observed, when asked to comment on the Green Party, that "the new Greens are the old Reds".This remark sums them up very nicely indeed. And to think that more than a few here on FR are gonna side with one of the two candidates of "the old Reds",Virgil Goode.

(The other candidate,of course, being Osama Obama himself).

Only once have I even considered voting for a candidate that,in the end, failed to garner a single Electoral vote in that election...and that was in '80.If I ever get to the point where I want my vote in a Presidential to mean absolutely nothing I'll start writing in my own name because, after all,I am the only genuinely perfect Presidential candidate.

If you claim to be remotely Conservative, we’ll tell you that we’re not tossing out everything we believe in to vote for a lying, backstabbing Socialist scumbag like Willard just to “beat” someone who scarcely differs from him. Technical Correction: A vote for Virgil is in fact a vote not for Virgil, but to ELECTORS IN VIRGINIA PLEDGED TO VOTE FOR HIM IN THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE usually on 15 December 2012 locally convened in their state capitol (and others as wel), then the sending of the state-certified results into Washington; were Mr. Goode to win 50%+1 of the popular vote in Virginia on Election Day November 2012, he would then secure the win of that state's entire electors. Both Romney and Obama will be denied them. You all figure out the chances of that. However, if a vote for Virgil goes to his delegates (electors) it will not go to the slate of electors pledged to Romney (I know I know tons of problems with him). Nevertheless this is a battleground state, you figure it out. What the enemy wants to be done here. If a conservative vote is not counted as GOP, and in a close race, the state could pivot into Obama's column. It is not a stretch that in a close 270 Electoral Vote race, that Virginia could decide the election as a lynchpin. Therefore a cast vote not for the Republican in that state could indeed allow the electors pledged to Obama to win, and thus carry the commonwealth and he will be re-inaugurated on the steps of the Capitol on January 20, 2013. Hope people can live with that. Hope they can countenance it when precisely this is that the strategy team of snotty, zit-faced, polysci major, young marxist beltway political wonks running the "2012" (Obongo) race and the DNC, want precisely to happen. I would think this through very carefully from a tactical position. Particularly if Goode is not on enough ballots in the USA to get him theoretically (which can hardly happen) to the magic 270.

I've eached the conclusion that "moderates" are the true purists who would rather have a democrat than a conservative. Sure they talk a good game about unity but only when the candidate is liberal enough for them to support.

As far as encouraging them is concerned, recent news is a perfect example of what happens when "moderates" feel empowered by a moderate nominee. We have sitting GOP congressmen openly endorsing liberal democrats to serve as examples for the rest of us. Republicans are attacking Michele Bachmann for speaking the truth. Where is Mitt Romney while this is going on? Instead of leading as the presumptive nominee, he's cowering somewhere letting the conservatives twist in the wind because he's so afraid of losing his moderate support.

Rush Limbaugh nailed it back in December and we'e on to the moderate game.

VAN SUSTEREN: Why has Governor Mitt Romney not had a so-called "surge"? We hear "surge" used with basically every Republican nominee, but you don't see that "surge" with Governor Romney.

RUSH: Well, every poll I've seen of Republican primary voters, he can't crack 30 percent. It has been curious. And you look at it from the reverse, 70 percent of Republican voters want somebody else. This is why we have the phenomenon of the "Not-Romney." Bachmann was the "Not-Romney" for a while. Herman Cain was the "Not-Romney." Now Newt is the "Not-Romney." I think it boils down to something that's not complicated at all. Republican primary voters are conservative. They don't believe that Romney is. They believe that he will stick a finger in the air and moisten it and see which way the winds are blowing and try to get in that direction. They remember that Romney said he believes in global warming and he believes that man is causing it. Well, conservatives don't believe that. They believe it's a hoax. Conservatives know that the whole story of man-made global warming is a hoax. And they're not going to get excited by a candidate who is trying to gain favor with non-Republican primary voters by articulating that stuff.

Here's the big problem, Greta, for the Republicans. And I am a lone wolf on this. The rule of thumb in elections, both parties, 40 percent are going to vote Democrat automatically, whatever you do, 40 percent are going to vote Republican, automatic, no matter what you do. And in the middle, who do we have? The precious, God love them, independents and the moderates. And they are the targets. They are the focus of every election. And our brilliant campaign consultants tell our candidates they are the ones that know how to go get a majority of those independents. And we have, as Republicans, put ourselves in prison to this whole silly notion that you only win elections by moving to the center and getting great independents. Fine and dandy, but if you squander your base in the process, you haven't a prayer.

The Republican Party is trying to do something in this primary that is unprecedented. They're trying to split the conservative vote and win the primary with a moderate, with Romney. It's the other way around. You consolidate your base and then you move to the center in the general. The Republican establishment has decided they don't want any part of conservatism. And this is really not new. People are surprised to hear this, but the Republican Party formative event with conservatism is Goldwater's landslide defeat. That's what they think of when they think conservative. They don't think Reagan. They think Goldwater.

They believe what the inside-the-Beltway philosophy is about conservatives. They're racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe, Southern hayseed hicks. They're pro-lifers. They're embarrassing to have to go to the convention with them. And they're just embarrassed to have those kind of people in the party. They're dumb. They're not erudite. They're not educated in Ivy League schools. We'll take their votes on election day, but we really don't want to hang around with them. We don't want anybody in Washington thinking that we're really that close to them and aligned with them. So in the process -- you know, it's a very sophisticated electorate. The Republican primary voter can sense that the Republican Party really doesn't like them, really doesn't want them, thinks that they are the route to defeat. That's the problem in a nutshell. The Republican establishment thinks that a conservative nominee is the route to defeat because they think Goldwater landslides are going to happen because they believe what the popular misconception the left has created of conservatives -- they think everybody thinks that.

Rush Goes On the Record with Fox News Channel's Greta Van Susteren

They chose this hill they chose to die on and they'll have to find their conscripts elsewhere.

Goode has always been a pro-life, pro-God, pro-gun, pro-small government, conservative.

He has never deviated from that, and his ACU rating was higher than most republicans the entire time he was a democrat.

He was either the only, or one of only a few, who voted to Impeach Bill Clinton.

You really need to get your facts straight.

Not only is Goode on the ballot in the states you’ve mentioned, BUT, let it be known to all that the hurdle to be a certified write-in candidate on a state’s ballot is a lower hurdle than getting one’s name on the ballot.

Therefore, the effort to get one’s name on the ballot will easily reach the hurdle to become an allowable write-in candidate.

Like her or not, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska proved last cycle that a write-in campaign can be very effective. And, at a minimum, it allows a conservative a conservative candidate to vote for.

So, let’s say Goode doesn’t make it onto the ballot of the Great State of Confusion but does become a certified write-in candidate. Can the Confusionites still vote for Goode?

You bet. They just write his name in in that portion of the ballot.

You are wasting your vote. Romney doesn’t have a prayer in Illinois, and the Illini know it.

Therfore, a vote for Romney is a vote for the GOP-E to continue running radical liberals.

A vote for Goode is a direct message to the GOP that conservatives want a conservative candidate.

I think you’re wrong, but I’ve never lived in a blue state and had to put up with what you all have had to put up with.

more than likely a born-again Evangelical (as am I).

If you are a born again Evangelical, then you will stop misrepresenting another born again (baptist) evangelical brother, Virgil Goode, by claiming he was a liberal democrat.

He has always been a pro-life, pro-God, pro-gun, pro-America, anti-open border, pro-small government conservative.

His ACU rating proves it. His vote to impeach Bill Clinton proves it. His vote against TARP proves it.

In each of those he stood against the flood and refused to do the wrong thing.

Yeah....my point still stands. There lots of Republicans (more than less) that will vote for anything with an R behind it.

Just because a lot of GOP sheep fell for Romney...doesn’t make a him conservative....nor does it make him a good candidate.

It only makes him the one that the GOPe and the media were most successful at pumping up.

The good news for liberals is that with Romney...they will now own both parties.

Sorry to disagree, but he finally joined the GOP because they approached him and kept after him. Those of us in his district know the guy and I assure you, he’s far more conservative than the average GOP politician.

I never thought I’d say this, but although I admire and trust Congressman Goode, I am leaning very strongly toward voting for you-know-who, because we simply cannot risk our commonwealth going to the Dems this year, NOT because I don’t support and admire Virgil. If on the off chance Romney does manage to pull enough liberal voters to win, Its going to be a real treat watching his “conservative” supporters crying that they had nothing to do with it.

Its as if they know what a pathetic piece of trash Little Mittens is and they want everyone to share the blame for their lack of courage. My conscience is clear and I’ll be here after the election no matter what happens and I won’t forget.
