'I blame the Aurora massacre on Hollywood – and the NRA'

Welcome to The Michael Savage Newsletter, your daily insider report on all things "Savage."

In this issue: Savage proved once again this week that he's an independent thinker who is impossible to categorize as "left" or "right."

Picking up on his previous condemnation of violent Hollywood movies, Savage – himself a gun owner – argued that the National Rifle Association must also share some of the blame for the mass shooting that shocked the world last week.
Contrasting Obama's address to the nation after the Colorado murders and that of Mitt Romney, Savage said that the GOP candidate had clearly distinguished himself with his thoughtful remarks:

At a time like this, a president is also supposed to be a spiritual leader for the nation.

Romney has shown very clearly that he is capable of being just that.

Truthfully, I believe the tide has turned on the election because of this terrible tragedy.

Which is not to say this is a good thing. It's a terrible thing.

The point is that as a political commentator, I have to mention that.

And I want to go back to who I blame: the movie producers.

I remember back in the 1980s, I had young children at the time, and I noticed every movie poster showing a young actor or actress holding a handgun.

    And then handgun violence spiked.

You could almost plot it. You don't have to be a genius to put two and two together.

And at the same time, I blame the National Rifle Association for demanding no control for any weapon or ammunition. It's insanity.

We're not at war. You're never going to go to war with your government, because you're going to lose. Don't be stupid already.

I don't want to hear it anymore. I'm tired of this cracker stuff.

    And I'm a gun owner.

I don't glorify it. I don't talk about it. But enough is enough.

Enough of drum magazines, and no to violent movies.

    How's that?

    Now try to categorize me.

The new Talk Stream Live "Power 50" has just been released, and once again, Michael Savage has beat out 48 other talk radio hosts for a prestigious spot on the list.

Talk Stream Live sampled over 1.2 million listeners during the first six months of 2012 to produce The Power 50 Report – the 50 most influential talk show hosts on the Internet and on mobile devices.

"We are proud to report that Rush Limbaugh is No. 1 and Michael Savage is No. 2," said TSL. "These are the most listened to talk show hosts in the world."

Reviewing the book for the Washington Times this week, Brett M. Decker wrote:

Dr. Savage's newest book, Trickle Down Tyranny, is a prime example of how his effectiveness is based on dirty details brought to light through research and his ability to tell a story. (...)

    Flipping through the pages of
Trickle Down Tyranny, the reader can't help but question whether or not the majority of Americans have the belief in our founding principles and the fighting spirit to do what it will take to turn this mess around.

And remember: When you order Trickle Down Tyranny at Amazon.com, you save almost 40% off the regular value!

An independent thinker that can't be classified as "right" or "left".  I guess he's a "maverick" like John McShame.

Been listening to Savage for years.  Not so much anymore starting about a year ago.  I was really put off on occasions, particularly before elections, when he promoted the idea of voting for democrats to punish republicans.  Recently he railed against just about every single republican candidate during the primaries, but no so much Romney.  He trashed Gingrich, calling him a devil.  He trashed Santorum.  Then, AFTER Romney wins the primaries, he starts to get critical of Romney.  Trying to come off as the "independent thinker" again.  Pssst.

I got news for ya Savage, neither Hollywood nor the NRA is responsible for the POS who killed all those people.  The POS shooter is responsible for his own actions.  Completely and totally.  All you're doing is mouthing socialist talking points to the end of disarming the American people, setting them up for total tyranny.  Individuals are not allowed to own WMD's.  Chemical weapons, explosives, fully automatic weapons.  That's enough restriction.  That's a righteous line.  The answer is NOT more restrictions, moving the line back ever closer to a total ban of all firearms, the answer is to have MORE people armed for the purpose of self defense.

And another thing, there doesn't have to be a war in order to justify the 2nd Amendment.  The fact that Americans merely own weapons is a psychological check on governmental tyranny.

What is an "independent" but a fence rider that lacks the conviction to take a stand?

Oh yeah, one more thing Savage. Freedom doesn’t guarantee safety and security. Freedom only guarantees freedom. It takes balls to live in a free society. Your safety is not guarnateed. So gird your loins and grow some b*lls. If you want more “safety” in society, then socialists and communists would like to make you an offer.

Mr Savage, did this guy have highly illegal explosives in his apartment? Would anything have changed had he used bombs instead? Your attempt to blame others for the actions of a whack job falls.

No law would have stopped him except the repeal of the rules that permit citizen disarmament zones.

I listen to Savage sometimes. Often, I like what he has to say. But on this issue, he’s completely wrong. The only people responsible for the this incident are the shooter and the movie theater management, who, by policy, don’t allow concealed carry in their place of business.

Savage just became an idiot in my book. To try to place any portion of the blame at the feet of the NRA is abject scapegoating.

I don't know what koolaid Savage has been drinking, but I've lost an enormous amount of respect for him if he can be so easily overwhelmed by such clumsy anti-gun propaganda.

Savage's anti-NRA statement exposes breathtaking naivete.

Savage must not even own a gun, or have even a rudimentary conception of what the Second Amendment is for. He, like many on the left, must think that it's mainly about hunting...

The NRA is made up of Four Million Americans. It is not a Black Monolith to be feared, although that is exactly how the Left operates. Alinsky is their mentor.

If Savage hates the NRA like the Democrats do, he hates four Million Americans that believe in our Republic as founded.

I gave up on him years ago. Me thinks he loves the sound of his own voice a bit too much.

I gave up reading Savage's book The Savage Nation and returned the book to the library when I came to the part where he said that Germany attacked Yugoslavia because it desired a port on the Baltic Sea. It so happens that Germany's longest seacoast is along the Baltic Sea, and Yugoslavia is about as far from the Baltic as Wyoming is from the Gulf of Mexico.

Savage has always been a marxist.

Savage donated $5000 (the maximum) to ultra liberal Jerry Brown who is governor of california.

This liberal puts on an act to make money but sometimes it’s true self slips out as deoes the marxist Obama when it said “you didn’t build that”.

Even it's name is really Weiner.

It's been a long time liberal/marxist , berkely graduate from frisco.

Puts on a radio act to make money . But if you listen closely sometimes this moron slips up as it did here. I figured out long ago it is a marxist. It even donated the maximum in $ to Jerry Brown and was caught. Jerry brown is an ultra liberal democrat who is governor of California.

And now for act two by Benedict Savage.  Now savage claims that civilians shouldn't be allowed to own body armor.  What if, for instance, your job involves working as a courier, and your job takes you through very bad parts of some cities, and you wish to wear body armor because you want personal protection for fear of either being car-jacked, or robbed in the duty of you job?  And since you're not even allowed to carry a handgun in some cities, then wouldn't body armor be your only hope of protection?  Hunting?  Are you freakin kidding me?

Oh yeah, body amor is quite a dangerous thing to own.  Anyone can tell you that if anyone attempts to buy body armor that it DEFFINITELY means that they plan on committing mass murder and having a shootout with the cops.</s>

Man, F this guy.

Savage says: We conservatives must take the high road and say we are in favor of banning body armor and drum magazines.

That's because unless our side controls what gets banned, we're liable to see things happen that we don't want to happen, because we have a communist in the White House who's capable of doing anything.

This fricken guy is trying to play us for fools.  I can't believe this.  Is Savage a ringer for the left inserted into the conservative sphere for the purpose of undermining conservatism, like Chief Justice John Roberts seems to be?

I had no idea that Savage contributed to Jerry Brown's campaign.  That is freakin blowing my mind.  Very creepy.  I'm gonna have to back-check that.  That is irreconcileable.  WTF is going on?

'You don't need body armor to hunt deer'

Welcome to The Michael Savage Newsletter, your daily insider report on all things "Savage."

In this issue: Michael Savage is in distinguished company. Last week, he was virtually alone in placing partial blame for the Aurora, Colo., movie theater massacre on Hollywood.

Now esteemed director Peter Bogdanovich has joined the chorus. With that, Savage renews his call for a moratorium on violent movies, as well as a ban on body armor and certain kinds of ammunition.
"After the slaughter in the Aurora, Colorado, movie theater, I immediately blamed the actors, the directors and the violence in the movies," Savage reminded listeners, adding:

Nobody paid attention to it, because I'm only Michael Savage.

I'm not a legendary movie director, like Peter Bogdanovich, who I see from this morning's Drudge Report more or less agrees with me.

Charles Hurt of the Washington Times also mentioned the connection between movie violence and the real thing, so I put a link up to his article on my website.

His article is called "An Open Letter to Christopher Nolan, Sean Penn and Warner Brothers."

Maybe you already read it. Maybe you want to move on. But I don't want to move on.

I'm going to say this again: Last Friday I said they should ban body armor for civilians, and they should ban drum magazines of ammunition.

Yet my point was missed by almost everybody in the media

I'm a gun owner. I was on the rifle team in high school.

I absolutely would defend the Second Amendment. But let me tell you something: There's a huge difference between the right to bear arms and the right to carry around a weapon that could shoot a hundred bullets at police.

You don't need body armor or drum magazines to hunt deer.

We conservatives must take the high road and say we are in favor of banning body armor and drum magazines.

That's because unless our side controls what gets banned, we're liable to see things happen that we don't want to happen, because we have a communist in the White House who's capable of doing anything.

Reminds me of the time early in the GWB administration when it seemed he was agreeing to everything the Dems wanted, and some here actually said that was a good thing because "it got that issue off the table so it couldn't be used in the campaign".

Still, for some reason, Savage has his fanatics on this board.
