Star Parker: Chick-fil-A protest could set back gay activism
ocregister.com ^ | 7/28/2012 | Star Parker

The current hate campaign being waged by homosexual activists against fast food chain Chick-fil-A, because of the firm's Christian values, may well turn out to be a bridge too far. The effort may prove to be a setback for homosexual activism.

The vile attacks on the firm and its owners, the Cathy family, should make clear, finally, that the "gay rights" movement is not about refining and advancing American freedom, but about rewriting American values and advancing, not freedom, but the homosexual political agenda.

--snip--

When Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy made his now famous incendiary admission that "we are very much supportive of the family – the biblical definition of the family unit," he was not pontificating. He was responding to a question in an interview done in a paper I expect is not read by many homosexuals – the Baptist Press.

Never mind. It was sufficient provocation that Cathy publicly admitted that the Bible defines his understanding of marriage – the unique bond of man and woman – which also happens to be the standard definition in dictionaries on the shelves of every American home and library.

to stay silent is to affirm
to say, “it is their life to do what they want,” is to affirm.

to voice your opinion that it is wrong; as it is against the laws of nature - it violates clear scriptural teachings - to goes against accepted practices throughout the history of mankind - is to stand against.

to stay silent is to affirm

And that's exactly what conservatives will do if they think it will harm their side.

I don't know about a backlash against queers, but Chick-fil-A just got handed millions of dollars in free advertising.

You hit the nail on the head. The angry left, radical homosexuals, etc. consider any statements or actions, no matter how mild, to be a statement of hatred.

You can’t just disagree about homosexual marriage or other issues with the left. To them, you are not wrong about an issue, you are truly evil.

I think this is a manufactured protest of sorts. Here we see a company CEO say that he favors traditional marriage. This is simply stating the social/legal policy of 44 states and the federal government. For this, for being in favor of that status quo, he is labeled a bigoted hater and far worse, on sites which allow the use of vile language.

You are right. Any statement which does not explicitly enthusiastically endorse homosexual marriage or the related homosexual agenda, is considered to be hate speech.

What we are seeing with the homosexual marriage debate will be how the left will handle other issues too. By having their useful idiots in the MSM carry their water, labeling any opposition as hatred, we’re not allowed to have a discussion about the merits of homosexual marriage.

Soon, this absurd reasoning will be used in the global warming debate, tax debates, and other debates. Count on it. Opposition to the leftist position will be considered to be hatred. It will even be unpatriotic, if we have a leftist president.

We are in Orwell’s 1984 in some ways, but some don’t realize it yet.

The vitriol won't slow the tide of current and future Chick-fil-A restaurant openings.

I have read Cathy’s statement over several time, and there is nothing “incendiary” about it.

You are correct...the writer was just being facetious.

We’ve got only three in Minnesota right now: the airport, the U of MN, and Mankato State U. A few more are coming in the next year or two to Twin Cities suburbs, though.

I’m tired of being told I should accept disgusting public behavior, as though I’m the one with the problem.

The Left will not tolerate not being tolerated. They will whine and cry like babies until you give them what they want, because "they deserve it!".

Why do they so desperately need the approval of Christians? If given all the approval and the ‘marriage’ they seek, they will still not be happy. Another group of perpetually outraged. Happiness is a choice. They chose to be angry. Sad.

Ive said it over and over to some of my liberal co-workers. I don't care what your gay friends do. But I won't let them jam their beliefs down my throat.

I never heard of them before but since all this whoop-a-la, I’m going to seek one out and give their food a try.

Personally, I think this is and has been, great for their company. Look at all the free advertizing their getting.

I never go to Chick-Fil-A, but I sent hubby there on Thursday to bring home some chicken ceasar wraps and waffle fries.

There is a video out now on YouTube with a young woman exhorting people to go to Chick-Fil-A and ask for a drink of water (Proverbs 25), since according to HER it would be hypocrisy for the company to adhere to Christian values and turn people down.

I’m seeing quite a bit of stuff on facebook regarding the oppression of gays and so on...

If there is anyone who does NOT believe this is a spiritual battle, then that person is seriously deceived.
