Dick Cheney has some advice for Mitt Romney on choosing a running mate: Don't pick another Sarah Palin.
In his first interview since receiving a heart transplant in March, Cheney told ABC News, that John McCain's decision to pick Palin as his running mate in 2008 was "a mistake" - one that it is important from Romney not to repeat.
It's subject on which Cheney has some unique experience. He helped Presidents Gerald Ford and George W. Bush lead their vice presidential searches and, of course, served as vice president for eight years. He's also privately offered some advice to both Romney and Beth Myers, who is leading Romney's search for a runningmate, on the process.
Cheney would not comment on what he told Romney and Myers, but he was harsh in his assessment of McCain's decision to pick Palin.
"That one," Cheney said, "I don't think was well handled."
"The test to get on that small list has to be, 'Is this person capable of being president of the United States?'"
Cheney believes Sarah Palin failed that test.
"I like Governor Palin. I've met her. I know her. She - attractive candidate. But based on her background, she'd only been governor for, what, two years. I don't think she passed that test…of being ready to take over. And I think that was a mistake."

I agree in part. Palin should have been running for POTUS rather than VP.
The problem was, the Money Party - the moneyocracy funding & directing both parties - threw the election by securing the GOPe Judas goat (McCrisis is more Judas goat than RINO), but before they had Hillary solidly in place.
They screwed the pooch. They were down for 8 with Madame Cankles, now they're switching horses midstream; which is why you see Mittens getting a firehose of cash from GoldmanSachs 3:1 over Obama -- the same ratio Obama got over McCrisis! And GoldmanSachs doesn't lose elections...

Romney going down with the sinking USS McCain would make it harder for him to be the ‘front runner’ this election cycle.
This is Cheney’s opinion. Period.
I agree with him on some issues, and on other issues, not so much.
Sarah almost won the election for McCain. He lost it in spite of her, not because of her.
Cheney has been wrong before (IMO) and he’s wrong about this.
If after a set of grueling primaries for Vice President, Sarah were to be left standing... and THEN, she had to choose her President running mate, she would be making a BIG mistake were she to choose Romney.

The Mistake was the RNC picking the likes of Bob Dole and McInsane.
The problem is that guys like Cheney are fine for fighting the democrats but not much else.
I fear that we’re wasting too much time fighting the democrats while we’re losing the ideological/cultural war.
I think the problem here is that Palin is a social conservative, while Cheney himself is a libertarian who actively campaigns for gay marriage and has little if any interest in the social decay of the USA.
Quite right! Cheney is not a stupid man. There’s method to this madness.
