WELL DONE, MITT! As Governor Of Mass, Romney Banned The Assault Weapon Used In The Colorado Massacre
Business Insider ^ | Jul. 23, 2012, 10:26 AM | Henry Blodget

In 2004, as Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney banned the sale of assault weapons like the one used to spray 50-60 bullets a minute in the Colorado massacre.

On FOX News, Romney explained his position as follows:

"I believe the people should have the right to bear arms, but I don’t believe that we have to have assault weapons as part of our personal arsenal."

That seems like a perfectly reasonable position, no?

(Seriously: Do we really need to be able to buy and own these things? Is that really in the best interests of our society? Really?)

Unfortunately, in the intervening years, Romney has flip-flopped and now supports the sale of assault weapons like the one used in the Colorado massacre.

But the families of those who were shot and killed in the theater can presumably take some comfort from the fact that Romney was against these guns before he was for them.

As with every election post Reagan we have the choice of the lesser of two evils. I will reluctantly choose Romney because he is the lesser evil and there is no viable third choice.

Please point to the relevant scriptures that support such a contention from a Christian perspective, especially when the choice is between a Crypto-Communist and a lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal like Mitt Romney.

All I can find is the following from the Apostle Paul which, again from a Christian perspective, would seem to completely refute that approach:

Romans 3:4-5

God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

5 But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man) 6God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world? 7For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner? 8And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.

So if I may provide my interpretation, Paul is saying that we should never do evil so that Good may come.

Voting for a man who implemented Gay Marriage unconstitutionally I might add and who implemented Socialized medicine with a $50 Abortion and nominated 27 out of 36 extreme progressive liberals qualifies as “Doing Evil so that Good may come” in my opinion.

You are wrong, and your rash judgments are evidence that others should avoid your faulty advice.

I wanted Sarah, and she did not run.
I then wanted Herman Cain, and he dropped out.
I then supported Newt but Newt fizzled out.
I then voted for Santorum.

But, there is no rational reason to take ANY action which might keep Obama in the White House.

Alas, he’s the best we’ve got.

I'm calling BS on that and I am tired of hearing it for the past 40 years.

Gary Johnson. I'm voting for him. I know him, I trust him. I like what he did when he was my Governor. I live in a small, solidly-blue state with very few electoral votes, so that's the way I'm voting.

Better to do that than what I did the last time around, which was not vote in the Presidential race at all.

Reagan easily on of the nations greatest presidents didn’t leave conservatism , you left Reagan.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1153552/posts

In 1994, Reagan directly lobbied Members of Congress to pass the federal Assault Weapons Ban.

The ban passed the U.S. House of Representatives 216-214, a margin of just two votes. One of those votes was cast by former Rep.

Dick Swett (D-NH), who credited Reagan’s direct involvement for his “aye” vote. Swett told the Boston Globe, “he made up his mind after being lobbied by the idol of GOP conservatives, President Ronald Reagan.”

"...but I don’t believe that we have to have assault weapons as part of our personal arsenal."

There's that word again. 99% of gun owners have a personal collection of guns. They DO NOT have a personal arsenal. While the word can be used in this context, the use is generally reserved for military or government stores with large quantities of weapons and munitions.

The media uses the word to insight a negative reaction.

Mitt is allowing the media to set up the terms of the debate, instead of correcting them.

If you want an acceptable nominee in 2016, you need to reject this unacceptable nominee in 2012. Just say no.

Romney is the GOP candidate for 2012. We can’t change that.

I am not willing to surrender my country to BHO for four more years.

I don’t believe my country would survive in any recognizable form. With the damage Obama has already done I am not sure our country will survive. I can’t risk not supporting Romney.

Obama is the Great Destroyer.

Can you leave our country in the hands of this man for four more years?

With all due respect, a Mitt win makes gun control much more likely to take place. He agrees with “REASONED”, gun control. So do many Republicans. So do all Democrats.

A “reasoned” gun control bill would pass easily under a Republican Congress.

Most Democrats and enough Republicans to make the difference would vote for it. Romney would sign it.

I don’t want Obama either, but we don’t win either way this fall, and any Leftist legislation favored by Romney, will slide through with enough bipartisan support to sink us all.

We’re screwed.

I find that hard to believe. If there were even one tiny instance of racism in Romney’s history, this administration and its media arm would have already spread it far and wide. They play the race card constantly and on the basis of nothing, I don’t think they’d let any real racist event on Romney’s part get by them.

Nana, am I understanding you clearly? Do you think Romney is a racist against Blacks? For the record, I sure don’t see it that way. Am I missing something?

Your first paragraph and your second paragraph are at odds with each other.

If he truly intends ‘not to fail this country’ there is no need to ‘push’ him.

I think that you don’t believe your second paragraph any more than I do.

In fact, now that I re-read it, the second part of your first paragraph is at odds with the first part. He can’t be ‘pushed’ and I think you and most everyone else using that line understand that too.

Answer 12 days.
