Guy Adams works as a writer for The Independent, a national newspaper in Great Britain. He lives in Los Angeles. Throughout the Olympics, he's taken to Twitter and ripped NBC repeatedly for its coverage of the Games in America.

Namely, he's criticized the network's reliance on using tape delays, a frustration shared by millions of viewers.

Only in a marriage of old media and social media, Guy Adams no longer has a Twitter account. It was suspended Tuesday, and both NBC and Twitter ought to be humiliated by their thin-skinned, heavy-handed, and essentially pointless behavior.

When are the neandertals going to realize that ignoring someone like this guy results in MUCH less negative press than playing the heavy-handed bully?

I don’t get it... how can this guy get his account suspended for honest criticism, when Rosie O’donnell can write nasty, anti-Christian profanity about a different business (Chick-Fil-A) and retain her privileges?

What are the rules for what one can and cannot post on this social media outlet? ARE there rules?

NBC is going to take a big black eye for getting this guy's account removed. NBC doesn't understand the new media, and how fast it can move.

No they don’t take criticism well but damn sure love to criticise everyone else!

******

Adams encouraged Lauer “to shut up” and called out Gary Zenkel, the president of NBC Olympics, as the “moronic exec behind the time delay.” And he said Zenkel should be fired.

The answer should be obvious why Rosie get to keep her account. She is expressing the views they also agree with.

Regardless, Adams is right about his suspension being worrying.

It’s not that the suspension is all that bad. Twitter suspends accounts every day, but the fact that this suspension is more of a judgment call than an exact science is disturbing.

Twitter and NBC are partners, and friends tend to watch each others’ backs. So if you have been criticizing NBC and plan to continue doing so, it may be best to make sure you aren’t violating Twitter’s policies — you don’t want to find your account down the next time you try to log on.
