Chick-Fil-A protest could boomerang
Miami Herald ^ | July 30 2012 | Glenn Garvin

Posted on 07/30/2012 4:40:04 PM PDT by scottjewell

...Progressive politicians from coast to coast were lining up last week to keep Chick-Fil-A’s...restaurants out of their towns after the company’s president... made statements that [he supports traditional marriage]. . .

Chicago alderman Joe Moreno, called Cathy “bigoted” and “homophobic” and added: “Because of this man’s ignorance, I will now be denying Chick-Fil-A’s permit to open a restaurant in the 1st Ward.” Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said that goes for the entire city: “Chick-Fil-A values are not Chicago values.”.........

You know who the big loser will be in that scenario?

Progressives and their companies. Because, like it or not, they’re the ones who don’t share majority values.

Across America, the right to gay marriage has appeared on the ballot 32 times over the past few years, and it has lost every single time. Only six states and the District of Columbia issue licenses for same-sex marriages...

If pandering progressive politicians are allowed to put Chick-Fil-A out of business, you can bet that the folks on the other side will be doing the same to Amazon.com, whose founders just donated $2.5 million to support a gay-marriage initiative in Washington State.

Say so long to Oreos (Nabisco, earlier this summer, put them in a bag featuring a cookie with a multicolored gay-pride stuffing) as well as Cheerios, Pillsbury pastries and Green Giant vegetables (owner General Mills is opposing a Minnesota constituional amendment that would outlaw gay marriage). JC Penney, which has put pictures of gay dads in its catalogs and uses Ellen Degeneres as its spokeswoman, will be history. And we’ll all be living in Murfreesboro.

I was saddened to find that Serious Eats has jumped on the bandwagon and posted an article on how to make Chick-Fil-A at home so you don't have to go there. I made sure I told them how I felt and that I won't be going back. I would encourage anyone here on FR to do the same if you frequent that site.

Yup. “Values” has always been a weasel-word. It seems to have first been used as a replacement for “virtues” by Nietzsche, who in taking issue with the Christian understanding of virtue wanted a word that could be applied to both what he supported and what he opposed in his “transvaluation of values”. It spread through the influence of sociologists and anthropologists who wanted a neutral word so they could talk about other cultures’ notions of virtue without asserting or denying that what the other culture held to be virtuous was or was not virtuous.

The phrase “family values” which flows so easily from the lips of social conservatives has always driven me mad: they have ceded half the field to the other side by refusing to talk about “virtue” and adopting the weasel-word, even with the adjective “family”.

Of course, in this context, not having “Chicago values” should probably be a point of honor.

Thanks for the information about Tax.com. I’ll use it instead of Amazon.

Jews don’t recognize Jesus as the Messiah.

Protestants don’t recognize the Pope as the Vicar of Christ.

Metropolitan Community Church members don’t recognize each other in the line at Chick-fil-A.

Why isn’t anyone focusing on the real issue with all this: government reprisal for religious freedom and freedom of speech? These mayors are violating the 1st amendment in every way possible!

I’m hearing the local shops have had record business, and I’ve seen this myself with lines going out to the street and filling up the Wal Mart parking lot next door.

Similar stories around the country. August 1st will be interesting.

Umm... AIDS-infected perverts will avoid Chick-Fil-A and normal families will visit more often and feel safer about it. What's not to like from Chick-Fil-A's perspective? And where is that "Captain Obvious" picture?

Hell,
I don’t like or eat chicken,
But I’m even thinking of going to a chick filet just to show support

Amen, LF.

Besides, what are “Chicago values”? Six murders every night? Epicenter of black “liberation” (hate-whitey) “theology”? Jew-hating “Minister” Farrakhan and his “Nation of Islam”?

What a den of iniquity.

No.

As Turkey’s prime minister said in the last year, when asked about “moderate Islam”:

There is only Islam.

Great idea! From now on they are “regressives”. That should get them ruffled!

I like chicken a lot, but I was very disappointed about my visit to CFA tonight. The restaurant had run out of peach shakes!!!
The humanity/inhumanity!
So, I just got the original sandwich and the garden salad, which is in the fridge.
If I go August 1, it will be out of curiosity. The lines are already terrible here, even though they are dealt with efficiently.

“Chick-Fil-A values are not Chicago values.”

If by that Emanuel means the restaurant frowns on gangbangers murdering people in cold blood as a matter of principle, then he might be right for the wrong reason.

Keep an eye on that and get to a doctor asap if the wound looks the least bit alarming. A nurse friend was telling me about a man that had an arm amputated after getting bit by a cat.

Ouch - cat bites really hurt. I tried to keep mine from going outside the other day. She was fine but I had several puncture wounds which bled a lot.

I went to the one in my town today, got Spicy Deluxe Chicken Sandwich (really spicy hot and good), waffle fries and tea and brought it home to eat. Also got bunch of nugets with packages of Polynesian sauce, to heat up and eat on Wednesday when they will be more packed than they are now.

There was a line of cars so I went inside to order. It was fairly full inside yet my order came out quick.

A few days ago I called these homo perverts “homos” and got a poster dumping on me for the use of “homo”. Well, that’s what they are and they are disgusting and as a preacher in
Florida said some months ago, gather them up and put them on an island and eventually there won’t be any more of them ‘cause they can’t reproduce. The homos really dumped on that preacher.

Inside Chick-fil-A there is a sign that explains why they close on Sunday. I am so old I remember when nothing was open on Sunday.
