Normal (meaning non-pervert) men and women,when they divorce,cannot remain “close friends”.At least one of them is gonna feel betrayed,hurt and maybe even angry.Yes,they can (and should) treat each other with civility (particularly when kids are involved) but “close friends”? No way.

Good observation. I’ve never understood the “close friends” with the ex-spouse line, either. Maybe it’s code for “Not going to shoot him/her myself, although it’s okay if someone else does.”
