Skip to comments.Ann Romney slammed for $990 Shirt, Michelle Obama praised for $6,800 jacket

Back in May, Ann Romney, wife of Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, wore a $990 Reed Krakoff silk shirt for a media appearance. The item of clothing set off a media firestorm, with the Romneys widely accused of being out of touch with average Americans.
In particular, the Washington Post wrote that the $990 blouse will not help her husband change those perceptions, no matter how many Laundromat photo ops are on the campaigns itinerary.
Fast forward to last Friday, when First Lady Michelle Obama attended an Olympics reception for heads of state at Buckingham Palace, donning a J. Mendel cap sleeve jacket from the 2013 Resort collection.
The price-tag? $6,800.
This time, the Washington Post simply described the intricacies of the jacket and noted that Mrs. Obama has previously been criticized for not dressing up enough for Queen Elizabeth II, so she stepped up her game. No snide remarks, no outrage over the cost, no suggestion she was out of touch.
The medias overabundant love affair with the Obamas has become increasingly blatant as this election draws nearer. Scrutinizing Mrs. Romney for a fashion choice that cost considerably less than that of the First Lady is yet another example of the media being purely sanctimonious, former political publicist Angie Meyer told FoxNews.com. The media continues to relish their roles as liberal bullies, and have relentlessly bullied the Romneys from the beginning. It is pure hypocrisy at its finest.

They passed hypocrisy years ago.
That’s the media for you. The DCNp that is.
No more MSM for me. That’s not specific enough.
You don’t understand. Romney’s wife paid for her shirt..Moochel didn’t pay for her jacket..she got it free!
Shoud have read DNCp. SAT
She did? How many people were in her flash mob?
They are all out of touch. Nobody wears shit that expensive. Ross, meet political elite..
I find it amazing how $900 can look so much better than $6,800.
If you look carefully at the noses of your average ‘main stream’ reporter, you will detect shit stains which tellingly can be traced to Obama DNA. True story.
I think what gets under the media’s skin is, Ann Romney would be attractive in a pair of Goodwill overalls, whereas Moo-chelle...well, you get the picture. You can put lipstick on a pig.......
I believe it I believe it.
Well of course they’d hype Moochelle .... here in Australia the US media is looked upon just like Best Korea’s news.
CALL IT A $7000 JACKET .. OR BETTER ... A $10,000 AND THE ENEMY WILL BE ALL OVER THAT, CORRECTING THE NUMBER.
It is NOT $10,000 .. it's only $6,800 ...
One of these days, the prepubescent hemorrhoid-suckers who comprise the blogosphere of whatever 3rd-grade playground intellects make up the folks who worry about such things just might have an issue they can speak positively of from their beloved Marxist. Until then, they reveal their idiocy and ignorance of what the country faces in this election with every utterance.
Wipe off that lipstick and all that makeup and she’s one ugly woman. It’s amazing what a good hairstylist and makeup artist is able to accomplish with that woman.
could also say...
Mrs. Romney can afford her shirt...
Can Michelle O. afford hers????? she depends on taxpayers for everything...parties, vacations, etc etc. etc..............
She spent $990.00 on that ugly ass shirt? She should return it and spend the money on a good pair of glasses.
Alls well that ends well. It was Mittens’ people who leaked to the media accusing Palin of being a Diva with a 200,000 dollar wardrobe. Mittens ought to eat his own medicine from his brother lefties.
Yeah, I knew that. You misunderstood where my quote came from. Angie Meyer is referring to the media hypocrisy. Thus my comment that the media has passed that point a long time ago. This is nothing less than an orchestrated attack by Obama sycophants. Media fascism. The media is waging war on us.
Angie Meyer told FoxNews.com. The media continues to relish their roles as liberal bullies, and have relentlessly bullied the Romneys from the beginning. It is pure hypocrisy at its finest.
let’s see now, $1000 for a shirt.....$7,000 for a jacket....I think that it is time for me to change careers. Even after allowing for the cost of a few yards of materisl and some thread and a handful of buttons....the profit margin would have to be right up there.
One is a sports car with a rattle can spray paint job.
The other is a junker with flat tires, a big trunk and too big a radiator, but has a $6,800 paint job.
The lines of that jacket make Mrs. O. look pregnant. Badly designed.
Because communists will honor their dictators regardless of hypocrisy, violations, and devastation.
Collectivism does not permit the individual integrity that would speak on balance of the facts. The uniform assault against the Right, and defense of the Left is, in the view of many in the media, “for the greater good”.
The difference, Ann has always dressed in this manner because her husband is a successful American businessman. Her attire will continue very fashionable and high end after she becomes first lady. Michelle started dressing in clothes that were only a dream to her before she became the first lady. BIG DIFFERENCE.
I think they're both ignorant and spoiled.
But apparently the spoilage and ignorance is 7 times worse with Mooch.
Aw sh*t, what do you expect?
It’s only the hateful, dhimmicrat MSM.
Maybe she should go back to what is more in line with HER taste for cloths, grandma’s old drapes and a boob belt.
So when will the Democrat operatives of Obama imply that Ann Romney is “too sick” to be a “healthy” FLOTUS like Moochelle?
