No way should any Presidential candidate touch this issue. This is a private business and the people handled the situation. There is absolutely no reason an current or potential leader of the Federal Government should insert themselves her. Anyone who thinks they should must love big government.

Or else you are a totally ignorant of the limits of the Federal government. I am surprised that people here or FreeRepublic think Romney should go there and that not going there proves he is a libtard. I think it is exactly the opposite.

Let's think people. Use out intelligence. Stop being reactionary. understand the importance of Chick Fil A is that the people took action.

WE DON"T REQUIRE GOVERNMENT AT ANY LEVEL TO GET INVOLVED IN THIS.

So just saying “....but I’ll say this, a man has a 1st amendment right to expressing his views.....” and leave it at that if he didn’t want to get involved further is even too controversy? Mitt chicken out and this defense of Mitt around here is laughable and sad. Sarah smartly got involved and all she said was that she went to Chick-fil-a to support a 1st amendment rights and not allow bullies to run someone off for their beliefs...she never brought up gay marriage or any other social cause

We do require that they ~ the gub'mnt candidates ~ are on our side eh!

Being noncommital when it comes to FREE SPEECH is rather unusual in our society. Even Obama has a position ~ he would like for us all to shut up, so we know where he stands.

You really can't be lukewarm on this particular fundamental right in this country.

Even though I find nothing whatsoever appealing with this dude, I am still startled when he seems to have no position on the elements in the Bill of Rights.

No way a knowledgeable businessman could be so unaware of such matters ~ unless, of course, he was just a face man.

So you don't think that a political candidate should not help to protect, at least rhetorically, a private business whom the left in all it's forms is trying to destroy because of an adherence to a conservative principle?

You don't think a GOP candidate for the Presidency should not reaffirm his party's support for anti-Gay Marriage every chance he or she gets?

Spot on W1. People on a forum think they know how to run a campaign. Not every issue that is near and dear to someone’s heart is fit for disecting on a national level. Some of you whiners are hurting THIS forum.
