Right-wing extremist terrorism as deadly a threat as al Qaeda? (CNN says, 'Yes.')
CNN ^ | Tuesday, August 7, 2012 | Peter Bergen and Jennifer Rowland

Posted on 08/07/2012 7:46:56 PM PDT by kristinn

The word "terrorism" in the United States usually brings to mind plots linked in some way to al Qaeda, while the danger posed to the public by white supremacists, anti-abortion extremists and other right-wing militants is often overlooked.

Militants linked to al Qaeda or inspired by jihadist ideology have carried out four terrorist attacks in the United States since September 11, which have resulted in 17 deaths. Thirteen of them were in a shooting incident at Fort Hood, Texas, in November 2009.

By contrast, right-wing extremists have committed at least eight lethal terrorist attacks in the United States that have resulted in the deaths of nine people since 9/11, according to data compiled by the New America Foundation.

And if, after investigation, Sunday's attack on the Sikh temple in Wisconsin is included in this count, the death toll from right-wing terrorism in the U.S. over the past decade rises to 15.

They might want to take a gander at stormfront before declaring white supremacists to be right wing. In 2010 they were raising money for Cindy Sheehan.

I'm not excusing the crime - and I'm glad the skinhead anti-semite was killed - but that has nothing to do with Israel-supporting Tea Party members. The nut probably had more in common with 'Occupy' types than he had with any conservative.

I remember being puzzled when people used to call the pop-smoking skinheads in New York “right wing” because they are racists.

News for these jerks. There are plenty of left-wing racists. Historically, the Democrat party was the party of racism for more than a hundred years.

The Sikh temple shooter was in a racist punk rock band, and looks like a hippie in most of the photographs of him in that role. Nothing conservative about it.

But, of course, the leftist propaganda meme is that if you’re a racist, you must be a rightist. Not true, as even the most cursory observation of history demonstrates.

No he was considered a terrorist and traitor back then too.

Just not by the Victors.

I remember in College one of my Stupid History teachers had a Parthian shot one day as we were leaving class that "Remember the Founders were a bunch of Slave owning white men, who didn't want to pay their taxes"

I reminded her the next day that those taxes helped to support the British Military in the Conquest of Places like India and Africa (Because our taxes go towards conquering Iraq and the time you see)

She didn't bring that point up again.

We need to punch back over this “right wing = Nazi” meme.

Never accept it, always challenge it. “Communism and National Socialism are just two sides of the same Socialist coin.” Etc. Never let it stand undebated.

Left Wing = Big State Supreme. Communist, Nazi, Socialist, and collective ideoloty.

Right Wing = Limited govt, the individual supreme, liberty and freedom the paramount virtues.

Left wing and right wing are both terms that come out of Europe’s Socialist movements. Republicans have little to do with it, and American conservatives are about the only political group resisting Socialism in the world. Nazis are certainly Socialists, and Socialists are Nazis in the making, just look at the American left, and Homeland Security under Obama’s watch. Look at Occupy, at unions, at TSA, and look how America’s media is little more than a propaganda tool to use against the left’s political enemies. This nonsense, for instance.... Tea Party enthusiast and conservatives are called racist because we are color blind, while the left uses and manipulates race to achieve political power. Right wing kooks can be a bit terrifying, just like their brothers on the left. This is what European Socialism is all about. Join conservatives, and stand against the madness.

That being the Earth Liberation Front, identified by the FBI as the single most dangerous home-grown terrorist group in the nation. Different of course than the Occupy Wall Street crowd, Code Pink and a host of other peaceful, law-abiding, non-confrontational activist groups. Uh Huh, right.

Since you brought it up , why hasn't Hassan been charged with a hate crime yet. Seems like he is the type the law oh... wait... I forgot he is not homophob... wait he is uh southern baptist.... no that doesn't work either. Oh maybe because he is one of Obama’s brothers he cannot be charged with a hate crime. Couple this with dropping the black panther voter intimidation case and The nation of Islam police force in Chicago and a pattern begins to develop. He hates Israel, loves the Islamic brotherhood and continues to give Imanutjob and Iran a pass. Don't listen to the rhetoric, watch the actions. Every major move he has made since taking office has been destructive to The USA. No drilling in the gulf, shut down coal fired power, give trillions away to cronies, bankers, and Europe and all the while sucking the life out of predominately middle class, predominately christian , mainstream Americans.Focus people he demonizes everything that is good and right and attacks everything that has been successful and pro America.

As I have observed here before, post-1920 “right wing” had no meaning other than “opposed to the Comintern”, thus classical liberals, monarchists, Tories, Christian Democrats, nationalists of every sort, fascists, Nazis,. . . were all “right-wing”.

The multiculturalist globalist left has inherited the role of the Comintern, and now anyone who opposes their projects (be it pushing “gay marriage” down the throats of the populace of the entire developed world, deficit spending, anthropogenic global warming, coddling and excusing radical Islam, or whatever new enthusiasm seizes them tomorrow), whether out of a commitment to nativism, fiscal restraint, science, the Constitution of the United States, the Christian humanism of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., or any other cause is “right wing”.

I ask people who think the Nazis are “right wing” if they have ever read the party platform of the National Socialists. Invariably they haven’t, but they have spent a lot of time listening to professors and media tell them that the Nazis are right wing. They won’t read the history for themselves and even if they did are unable to think for themselves enough to understand what they are reading.

Its the “narrative.” “Progressive” left wingers can’t be racists or bigots, so, if someone is a racist or bigoted has to be a right winger. The circular logic has gone on for so long that lefties think they they can win a argument just by screaming “racist!”

Indeed the seating arrangement in the French General Assembly was the origin of the term (though back then “liberal” definitely included classical liberals who are now called conservatives in America and only by a stretch included Jacobins, and “conservative” meant monarchist). I merely described the actual usage of the words since the time of the Russian Civil War.

For a great take on things from a historical perspective, see the Hayek quote on my FR profile page. It’s the 3rd one down, two paragraphs. It well describes why the Nazis and the Communists were so similar in 1920s and 30s Germany.
