EDITORIAL: The Civil War of 2016: U.S. military officers are told to plan to fight Americans
The Washington Times ^ | August 8, 2012 | Editorial

Posted on 08/08/2012 4:50:24 PM PDT by EveningStar

Imagine Tea Party extremists seizing control of a South Carolina town and the Army being sent in to crush the rebellion. This farcical vision is now part of the discussion in professional military circles.

At issue is an article in the respected Small Wars Journal titled “Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A ‘Vision’ of the Future.”

Its clearly time to regain control of our military, bring as many home as we can, strip them of the corporate brass, and indoctrinate them in constitutional thinking.

So when US soldiers start attacking US citizens, where exactly does their allegiance lie?

Or are they merely mercenaries?

That's the way the culture works nowadays.

Anything that can possibly provide a paper topic to an academic gets written.

Anything that can possibly put a dollar in someone's pocket gets done.

You'll see this come out as a computer game within a year.

That doesn't mean the government will actually do anything about it, though.

This is one of the problems I have with perpetual war. You’ve got to get off the war footing every so often so they can just be Americans for a while.

My son is in the Army, I can guarentee you that he stands with “the people” as per the Constitution as per his oath. I’ll have to ask him what he thinks the majority of his brother soldiers would do, though.

Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A “Vision” of the Future

Posted by Ann Barnhardt - Aug 4, 2012

This isn't some wild bee-ess from some Alex Jones site. This is the real deal. The author is a retired Colonel currently on staff at Ft. Leavenworth, which is the hub of all flag officer advanced education and indoctrination. Ft. Leavenworth is not called "the Little Pentagon" for nothing.

The piece is lengthy, but worth the read. It is basically war gaming how the United States military would be deployed to put down a "Tea Party insurgency". Some choice quotes:

"Under present law, which initially stemmed from bad feelings about Reconstruction, the military’s domestic role is highly circumscribed. In the situation we lay out below, even though the governor refuses to seek federal help to quell the uprising (the usual channel for military assistance), the Constitution allows the president broad leeway in times of insurrection."

"Coupled with a gradual build-up of federal forces in the local area, all covered by the media, the effect of this pressure will compound over time and quite possibly cause doubt about the correctness of the events in Darlington in the minds of its’ citizens and the insurrectionists who control the town..."

"The design of this plan to restore the rule of law to Darlington will include information/influence operations designed to present a picture of the federal response and the inevitable defeat of the insurrection."

"Combat units will conduct overt Show of Force operations to remind the insurrectionists they are now facing professional military forces, with all the training and equipment that implies..."

"A focus on the humanitarian aspect of the effort will be politically more palatable for the state and local officials. Federal forces continue to tighten the noose as troops seize and secure power and water stations, radio and TV stations, and hospitals."

” So when US soldiers start attacking US citizens, where exactly does their allegiance lie? “

If the trend continues, by 2016 the military will be largely populated by balkanized enclaves of ‘victim groups’ more intent on ‘getting back at their oppressors’ than on defending their country....

I have known COL (R) Benson for a number of years. He’s a very bright fellow who in his contractor hat works in the world known in military planning circles as “The Red Team”. Their job is to put their 100 pound brain to work positing what our enemies and potential enemies might do in order to cause great consternation amongst the good guy, “Blue Force” planners who have to come up with ways to tackle the bad guys.

That’s what he has done here to spark a much needed debate. But, he’s cut too close to the political bone and he has nicked a number of very sensitive nerves. Some in political circles are wondering aloud how they might harness the power and might of the military to work for their domestic political objectives. This debate needs to be out in the open so that notions of the use of military force against perceived threats to certain political factions can be quashed before anything is set in motion.

Benson is not the problem, he views this as an academic exercise. The problem lies to the East of the Missouri River, well East, on the banks of the Potomac.

What exactly is a Tea Party Extremist?

Anyone who still clings to the outdated idea that government works for the people.
