EDITORIAL: The Civil War of 2016: U.S. military officers are told to plan to fight Americans
The Washington Times ^ | August 8, 2012 | Editorial

Posted on 08/08/2012 4:50:24 PM PDT by EveningStar

Imagine Tea Party extremists seizing control of a South Carolina town and the Army being sent in to crush the rebellion. This farcical vision is now part of the discussion in professional military circles.

At issue is an article in the respected Small Wars Journal titled “Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A ‘Vision’ of the Future.”

I think it would depend on timing. At present, the combat units are disproportionately white, and that is most likely a very conservative group. I have a hard time believing the military as it currently exists would turn on their civilian own.

Many years from now though, if the military continues to reflect our growing (and unquestionably wonderful!!!) diversity, then I could see them relishing a violent confrontation with ‘racist’ tea party types.

SCNG would have something to say about that ... Don't think that the SCNG is up to it ???
They are one of the most deployed infantry units, Very experienced and fiercely loyal to SC

Do you think the South may have eventually won if they had fought a guerrilla war rather than one using traditional methods?

I think any U.S. Army officer willing to carry out such an order has no place in a free country.

If that officer is not justly killed for his acts by those he acts against he must be imprisoned for his treasonous war against theses united states(plural).

A local rebellion against a local government by the local people is a local matter. Washington does not exist to enforce & protect despotic governments.

Congress upon reflection may observe and reflect upon the changes if and only if the rebellion overturns the State government, or the State request aid in suppressing it.

Otherwise each and every “Solderer” that traitorously follows orders to attack Americans on american soil is guilty of a high crime and should be charged & punished.

169 is must reading. Thanks.
Your 1 through 9 should be sent to every military officer and NCO.

A CW here would, I think, devolve into a dirty civil war, shades of Argentina, Balkans, some Rwanda, etc.
Beyond a horror show.

And it might so totally cripple the economy and delivery systems, that all urban zones explode in uncontainable food riots.

Then Katy Bar the Door, All Bets Are Off.

” - - - Obama mistakenly believes he can foment a Communist revolution in the United States.”

I think that you are correct!

Remember what Obama said: “If you’ve got a business, that - - . You didn’t build that! Somebody else made that happen.”

IF Obama’s business is Communism, THEN who is the “Somebody else” that will make the Communist revolution happen?

BTW, War is Old School. The only way to go is with State Constitutional Conventions, split the USA into Multi-State Regions, and hold onto your hard money, Guns and Bibles, ‘cause we ain’t no Europe!

The facts are at odds with the magnanimity you attribute to Benson. Pick up the phone and call this fellow; convince him to sign up and defend his contemptible, vicious calumnies.

Actually, the problem lies east of the Rocky Mountains.

Ironically, this training my come in handy when liberal policies run our economy into the ground, and OWS-type protests start looking more like an armed rebellion.

And the only Tea Party members at this war will likely be members of the military.

That’s what he has done here to spark a much needed debate. But, he’s cut too close to the political bone and he has nicked a number of very sensitive nerves. Some in political circles are wondering aloud how they might harness the power and might of the military to work for their domestic political objectives. This debate needs to be out in the open so that notions of the use of military force against perceived threats to certain political factions can be quashed before anything is set in motion. Benson is not the problem, he views this as an academic exercise. The problem lies to the East of the Missouri River, well East, on the banks of the Potomac.

Benson IS the problem. He works out a solution to a theoretical problem - and in a few years, some thuggy democrat puts the plan in action - for real.

As I have said, I know Benson, and I know the people he works with. I have served in combat with some of them. We do not agree on every political point, and some of them even voted for Obama the last time around.

But, when we are drinking whiskey, or sending 6000 rounds of ammunition downrange on the 4th of July, we are not plotting some suppression of the rights and liberties of American citizens. But, the bozos in the Obama Administration are doing just that, you should have no doubt about that. Benson is not in the position, nor does he have the inclination to round up the Tea Partiers. For starters, he would have to start with me and a number of his friends and colleagues and we wouldn’t drink whiskey with him anymore. What he has done, quite by accident in my view, is given us a very valuable insight to what the political hacks are thinking.

Google Colonel Kevin Benson. Get beyond this dust up. He has walked the walk.

I know that refusing to drink whiskey with a man is a very serious thing. I will do as you suggest.

Best,

While I can appreciate our defense of one whom you call a friend, Benson is a retired officer. He can be recalled to active duty a lot easier than someone like me, who was just a namby-pamby enlisted guy.

You are correct though; those political hacks are the ones who really need to be hung from the nearest lamp post.

You are not factoring in the goal of destroying the United States. The Desolation of Obamanation has no interest whatsoever in either side prevailing. Only that we are swept off the world stage and left a scorched ruin.

That's the view of some, but I don't share it. I've watched Obama as long as anyone. The man was marinated in pure Marxist poison throughout his formative years, and honestly believes that it's true. He's absolutely dedicated to "fundamentally transforming America", just like he said.

Unfortunately, he's too blinded by that broken and destructive ideology to see the actual effects his leftist policies are creating on the country. That's why anything that goes sideways is ALWAYS "Bush's fault." It can't possibly be that his core ideology is bankrupt and unworkable.

You see that Obama wants to destroy, and you're right. He does, but he doesn't want to destroy everything. Just those parts of our system that are antithetical or opposed to his Marxist vision.

In other words, everything that makes us who we are, and that has made us the most successful nation in world history.
