I think it would depend on timing. At present, the combat units are disproportionately white, and that is most likely a very conservative group. I have a hard time believing the military as it currently exists would turn on their civilian own.
Many years from now though, if the military continues to reflect our growing (and unquestionably wonderful!!!) diversity, then I could see them relishing a violent confrontation with ‘racist’ tea party types.
I think any U.S. Army officer willing to carry out such an order has no place in a free country.
If that officer is not justly killed for his acts by those he acts against he must be imprisoned for his treasonous war against theses united states(plural).
A local rebellion against a local government by the local people is a local matter. Washington does not exist to enforce & protect despotic governments.
Congress upon reflection may observe and reflect upon the changes if and only if the rebellion overturns the State government, or the State request aid in suppressing it.
Otherwise each and every “Solderer” that traitorously follows orders to attack Americans on american soil is guilty of a high crime and should be charged & punished.
169 is must reading. Thanks.
Your 1 through 9 should be sent to every military officer and NCO.
A CW here would, I think, devolve into a dirty civil war, shades of Argentina, Balkans, some Rwanda, etc.
Beyond a horror show.
And it might so totally cripple the economy and delivery systems, that all urban zones explode in uncontainable food riots.
Then Katy Bar the Door, All Bets Are Off.
” - - - Obama mistakenly believes he can foment a Communist revolution in the United States.”
I think that you are correct!
Remember what Obama said: “If you’ve got a business, that - - . You didn’t build that! Somebody else made that happen.”
IF Obama’s business is Communism, THEN who is the “Somebody else” that will make the Communist revolution happen?
BTW, War is Old School. The only way to go is with State Constitutional Conventions, split the USA into Multi-State Regions, and hold onto your hard money, Guns and Bibles, ‘cause we ain’t no Europe!
Benson IS the problem. He works out a solution to a theoretical problem - and in a few years, some thuggy democrat puts the plan in action - for real.
How about an old soldier marksman who shot 1000 yds competition and can do even better ...
As I have said, I know Benson, and I know the people he works with. I have served in combat with some of them. We do not agree on every political point, and some of them even voted for Obama the last time around.
But, when we are drinking whiskey, or sending 6000 rounds of ammunition downrange on the 4th of July, we are not plotting some suppression of the rights and liberties of American citizens. But, the bozos in the Obama Administration are doing just that, you should have no doubt about that. Benson is not in the position, nor does he have the inclination to round up the Tea Partiers. For starters, he would have to start with me and a number of his friends and colleagues and we wouldn’t drink whiskey with him anymore. What he has done, quite by accident in my view, is given us a very valuable insight to what the political hacks are thinking.
Google Colonel Kevin Benson. Get beyond this dust up. He has walked the walk.
I know that refusing to drink whiskey with a man is a very serious thing. I will do as you suggest.
You are correct though; those political hacks are the ones who really need to be hung from the nearest lamp post.
MUCH better! Welcome to the list!
That's the view of some, but I don't share it. I've watched Obama as long as anyone. The man was marinated in pure Marxist poison throughout his formative years, and honestly believes that it's true. He's absolutely dedicated to "fundamentally transforming America", just like he said.
Unfortunately, he's too blinded by that broken and destructive ideology to see the actual effects his leftist policies are creating on the country. That's why anything that goes sideways is ALWAYS "Bush's fault." It can't possibly be that his core ideology is bankrupt and unworkable.
You see that Obama wants to destroy, and you're right. He does, but he doesn't want to destroy everything. Just those parts of our system that are antithetical or opposed to his Marxist vision.
In other words, everything that makes us who we are, and that has made us the most successful nation in world history.
I’m in. No need to go underground, just say it straight out:
If Romney loses, we will take over the Republican Party before the election of 2014.
BTW Romney, Tick-Tock.
B I N G O !
Whose-a-gunna buy Fed Bonds?
Whose-a-gunna loan the Feds cash,
When us taxpayers say NO WAY !!?
I guess the real question is how do we identify the officers that pose a threat to our domestic self-government and get rid of them?
Somehow I don’t think that will work as lawless president will no doupt fire every officer that refuses until such time that he finds one that will.
That is after all what Lincoln did, either we have a failed Constitutional republic or a standing army really is as big a threat to our freedom as any foreign enemy could ever pose.
I’m starting to think we would be better off letting the U.S. Army collapce, and all theses traitorous officers to find work among the people, and the patriots among them in their State national guards where State & local leaders will uses their control over officer selection to get rid of any would be traitor.
A distinction without a difference.
Who is "we"?
And it's not really a threat but...
Then, some years later, they'll start "The Hunger Games".
” - - - I wonder if Obama will execute a pre-emptive strike?”
Well, lemme see now, Obama flunked Kindergarten, so he is a tad shy of the Little Gray Cells. Which could explain why he always uses a teleprompter to read the commie scripts from Comrades Axelrod and Jarrett.
But I digress - - - .
Obama has his Obamadrones poised to penetrate picture perfect flyover country homes.
Obama has two personal Corporate jets, complete with Jet Fighter support, and thus could drop pretty propaganda on Peoria, or Pasadena.
Mayor Rham Noodle Guy will Control Chicago, Fluke will “administer” Food Stamp relief, and well, Obama did say that “everybody deserves a fair shot.”
What happens if a President over steps the implied powers of the Constitution, names himself/herself Emperor, is aided by a spineless complicit Congress as well as Supreme Court Justices whose attitude are that “elections have consequences, who cares about Constitutional limitations” and issues orders to shoot all who oppose him/her on site?
To imply this a couple of months ago would be foolish, but based on Roberts “logic”, the Constitution is trumped by the policy’s of Presidents and Congress who have won popularity contests.
Lol, a tube of KY, copy of Playgirl, and a vibrating dildo would neutralize the military in about 10 years.
I have yet to see Afghan stabilized, lol. You expect the military to control say, 100,000,000 guns owners easily? I don’t care if they ate 50 years old, a bullet is a bullet no matter the age of the person shooting.
Very good description of where Benson came from, what he is doing now and how it relates to what the U.S. Army is up to.
Where it goes off the rails is in some of the comments on the article. I think that this was a boneheaded decision on Benson’s part and will tell him so. But, its useful to force a discussion on what’s going on within the Administration vice what academic chatter may be going on within the Army. Be very concerned about what the Administration is doing, don’t get too concerned about what’s going on here on the banks of the Missouri.
Imagine hit and run attacks, ambushes, destruction of rail and telegraph lines, bridges destroyed, warehouses burned, torpedoes (mines) set adrift in the rivers, snipers just waiting for you to let your guard down for an instant, and a hundred other terrors. How would the people of the North reacted if hundreds or thousands of young men simply disappeared without a trace to be buried in distant unmarked graves. Having buddies snatched from their tents at night, their throats slit while on sentry duty, or ambushed while on patrol with little or no way of striking back would be devastating to Union morale. Add Confederate cavalry raids deep into Union territory by such leaders as Forrest, Morgan, Mosby, and Stewart, burning and looting as they go.
The final outcome of such a conflict would depend on the resoluteness of the people on both sides of the conflict. Would the citizenry of the South be willing to endure hardships and brutal retaliation to preserve their ideals and their way of life, and would the people of the North be willing to endure similar hardships from raids that devastate their crops and savage their local infrastructure?
The historical records indicate that many in the South would have willingly endured such hardships for the Cause, while the North was divided on whether to support Lincoln's war or not. Would such raids have hardened Union resolve to see the war through to the bitter end or would they have resulted in protest and outcry similar to the New York Draft Riots?
My personal thought is that such a campaign would have succeeded in forcing the Union to the negotiating table. A prime example of this type of warfare is the East Africa Campaign of World War One. German General Graf Paul Emil Von Lettow-Vorbeck had fewer than ten thousand men (one thousand warriors and nine thousand porters and support personnel) yet he managed to run rings around the vastly larger British, Belgian, and Portuguese forces. Often outnumbered ten-to-one, Von Lettow-Vorbeck had his command divided into company sized units so that the Allies could not wipe him out in a single engagement. Notoriously low on supplies for most of the war, Von Lettow-Vorbeck would stage raids deep into enemy territory to capture arms and equipment. When the war ended, he was actually staging an offensive campaign into British territory when he was informed of Germany's surrender. The German people were enraptured by his force's exploits, to the point of giving them a victory parade through Berlin so celebrate the only German forces who did not surrender during the war.
Kentucky and Missouri saw a little of this type of warfare, but this was generally disorganized and not officially sanctioned by the Confederate government or military. Even then it created such chaos that vast numbers of troops were tied up defending the Union extreme rear from small handfuls of men with improvised equipment and no outside support.
Sorry if this answer rambles a bit, but I'm running on just a few hours sleep. I just wanted to get my thoughts typed out before I stumble off to bed.

If you want it done right, then do it yourself,
Just pick up, and get up and go.

Maybe someone should tell these paper pushers that we are currently being invaded by Mexico. How about coming up with a plan to save California and Arizona ?
I dont think that they would let him get too far with this little plan of his.
I think you're right, but just how certain can we be?
Very true. In that spirit (and appropriate to the thread), here's a little something I received in email yesterday:
Drafting Guys Over 60
"I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military. They've got the whole thing ass-backwards.
Instead of sending 18-year olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 35.
For starters, researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy.
Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. 'My back hurts! I can't sleep, I'm tired and hungry.' We are impatient and maybe letting us kill some asshole that desperately deserves it will make us feel better and shut us up for awhile..
An 18-year-old doesn't even like to get up before 10am. Old guys always get up early to pee, so what the hell. Besides, like I said, I'm tired and can't sleep and since I'm already up, I may as well be up killing some fanatical son-of-a-bitch.
If captured we couldn't spill the beans because we'd forget where we put them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real brainteaser.
Boot camp would be easier for old guys.. We're used to getting screamed and yelled at and we're used to soft food. We've also developed an appreciation for guns. We've been using them for years as an excuse to get out of the house, away from the screaming and yelling.
They could lighten up on the obstacle course however... I've been in combat and never saw a single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, nor did I ever do any pushups after completing basic training.
Actually, the running part is kind of a waste of energy, too... I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet.
An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He's still learning to shave, to start a conversation with a pretty girl. He still hasn't figured out that a baseball cap has a brim to shade his eyes, not the back of his head.
These are all great reasons to keep our kids at home to learn a little more about life before sending them off into harm's way.
Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten coward terrorists. The last thing an enemy would want to see is a couple million pissed off old farts with attitudes and automatic weapons, who know that their best years are already behind them.
HEY!! How about recruiting Women over 50...in menopause!!! You think MEN have attitudes?? Ohhhhhhhhhhhh my God!!! If nothing else, put them on border patrol. They'll have it secured the first night!"
If you ever lower your ping profile standards, let me know so that I can apply to be on your ping list.
Who is Henry Bowman?
And those Afghani’s are mostly illiterate tribals. Their only real advantage is that they know their terrain and have networks inside which they can move contraband under the noses of the occupying force.
In addition to your scenario of millions of men with modern military training with modern small arms and add to them thousands of devious engineers with the ability to make modern civilization stop on a dime. Think about what little it would require to take down the US electrical grid for real. Think about how little it would take to turn a modern refinery into a roman candle. A few tracers lobbed in from a half-mile away... and stuff gets real sloppy, real quick.
The economy suddenly goes down a deep, dark hole, not to return for possibly a decade.
Pretty hard to finance a war on borrowed money when the lenders see little chance of being repaid any time soon.
There wont be a Gettysburg in modern insurgency. There will be a nasty insurgency, with a political component that would be as important as the killing wing.
An intelligent people who understood all of the dynamics you presented in your full post would probably push their wayward government to make the first move, and commit to a full scale imposition of martial law against its citizens, thereby hastening the inevitable outcome.
Well, of course any rational person living in Realville sees it that way, but we're talking about Obama here.
Who is Henry Bowman?
For example, I was a lot younger and a lot more ignorant when some of these things happened, but I almost blame myself and everyone else around me for Waco/Ruby Ridge, etc...
The people did not recognize these incidents for what they were at the time. 1/2 million people should have marched into those incidents and shut them down with force. I know, hindsight and time, but it's frightening to think that EVERYONE sat back and let it happen outside of a couple of hundred protesters. Only today in the light of retrospect do we see the evil and wrongs that were perpetrated.
On the other subject of actual civil war, my person belief is that it wouldn't really matter if the military stood with the citizenry or not. Of the 100m+ armed citizens in this country, only about 1 kill per 10 rebels would be required for complete and total annihilation of the governments military. Sure, it would be an absolute bloodbath for both sides, but as stated by others long before me, as long as we are armed, I do not believe America can ever be taken in one piece. I see all of the constant political bickering and division being implemented via so-called "wedge" issues... homo marriage, taxes, you name it. But then I think back at the mood of the country on 09/12/2001. If you were an American, you stood in solidarity with your neighbor regardless if he was a Barney Frank supporter. We wanted someones ass and we didn't even have to think about what side we were on. I believe the same effect would be in play if this scenario ever played out... I just can't figure out what that threshold really is for people. Waco didn't do it, what will?
if you don't add me to the list I will ask the Mods to ZOT your ass.
I am seriously thinking about reporting you to the highest authority in management about this ping list thing.
I’m talking echelons way beyond the Admin Mod. Do you hear me???
Thanks for sharing the humorous e-mail. Best regards.
After leaving active duty at Fort Benning I was in the active US Army Reserve in South Florida before and during the Cuban Missle Crisis.
We were all ordered to have our equipment and duffle bags packed and ready in the trunk of our vehicles and were on alert for notice to us at work to report to board aircraft in Fort Lauderdale for Cuba.
Kennedy called off the alert.
This never made it to the media.
There were very few in our company that were experienced and proficient in combat action.
Our egotistical idiot company commander had lost half of his men in Korea - He ordered his company to split in half and take a different route.
If you hold your breath waiting, we can call you Bluewoulf.
